This thing is excellent for Core 2 Duos. I have an E6400 that was idling at 47 C and full load to 65 C with the stock HSF ...

4 out of 5 eggsGood cooling, quiet, a bit tricky installation

Pros: This fan is very quiet and does a nice job at cooling.

Cons: The installation is a bit tricky.

Other Thoughts: I needed to use a small screw driver to push the light-colored plugs down through the fan and motherboard before inserting the dark-colored pins into the plugs. Once I did that, the fan feels like it is firmly in place.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Cooling

Pros: WORKS WELL with included thermal paste. I have not overclocked my Phenom II X2 550, but did unlock it, and have not experienced any problems with heat whatsoever. Idle is around 38* and the highest temperature I've seen from Asus' CPU temperature monitor was 51* with my case fans on low during stability testing in AMD Overdrive.

EASY TO INSTALL: I was worried, having read a few reviews, that it'd be hard to install on an AMD board, but it is literally a matter of just barely threading both screws, latching it on the mount, and screwing down, alternating sides until complete. I even did the install with the MB already in the case, and the NZXT Vulcan I bought isn't exactly roomy.

QUIET: even when spinning at 2000 rpm, the fan makes little noise, and what noise it does make is fan noise without any annoying whines.

PRICE: $25 combo deal with free shipping. The same cost, actually, as simply buying Arctic Silver and a new fan for my old cooler. Easy decision.

Cons: I can't really think of any.

Other Thoughts: The fan extends just enough to annoyingly contact my memory if in the first two slots. Not a con for me, since I'm only using two DIMMs, which I merely put in the outer slots.

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet

Pros: Quiet. Had to look in cse to verify fan was running. AMD 9850 idles at 38c. Able to oc to 3.0 Ghz. Lowered back to 2.5 for longetivity sake.

Cons: None, got what I expected.

5 out of 5 eggsGood price to performance ratio

Pros: Have been able to hit 2K RPM through BIOS config CPU fan at 100% all the time. Noise is minimal and cannot be heard over my case / video fans. Fits on EVGA X58 SLI motherboard with GSkill RipJaw memory that has tall heat sinks. CPU Temps of I7-920 clocked to 4.0 (1.25v) GHZ is 28ºc and 60ºc under load from Prime95 and IntelBurnTest. Core temps idle at 43ºc and under load are 72ºc

Cons: Rivets for mount are hard to access by hand.

Other Thoughts: Good price to performance ratio for someone looking for a cooling solution < $50.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I loved it when I got it.. it did the work it had to do.

Cons: The fan. After 1 year, I notice my computer lagging which never happened before. Checked the temps and they were way up. The fan died on me. Ripped the fan portion off and sat a standard Lian Li fan on it which actually cooled much better then the fan that comes with it.

Other Thoughts: Just be beware of the fan. Other then that it works like a charm.

5 out of 5 eggsCooler Basix

Pros: The best basic CPU Cooler at its price range. If you Dont know what your doing, dont give a bad review, and if you are the guy that thinx he knows, then buys some grey stuff, and a kikbut CPU and a CoooL Coooler, and you wipe the stuff on the back UF THE CPU and POOF....Your Rank 1 @CSS, WOW! Lay off the Manufacturer and NewEgg dude You FAIL!

Cons: At least spend the time to educate yourself on the appropriate measures, installation and testing of a proper CPU cooling device. Go home, Dont get on the internet, call your Dad and have a nice day!

Other Thoughts: Too many reviews from Failed 13yr olds!

5 out of 5 eggs6 Copper heat pipers is superb

Pros: I got this cooler from Micro*center for about 35$... New mounting system for 775 Sockets was really convenient, but a bit complicated to install. Once I got it up and running I saw an instant improvement in my core temps. Not only is it a LOT quieter than my stock CPU cooler, but its industrial sized for efficient heat dissipation.

I ran my stock temps about 45F While running GTA: IV on Med-Settings... Once I installed this I get a constant flow of cooling that keeps it below 20F while doing the most heavy flow of tasks. On neutral/ internet browsing/ small stuff I stay at about 13F... Now I do have a dual-core lol... but it still has a major impact.(I just have the dual core for another week until my q9650 ships in)

A plus for safe overclocking.

Cons: A bit Large... Not really a con, but may be troublesome for smaller, cheaper cases... Not buffed to mirror quality, kinda dull looking metal. No performance cons though.

Other Thoughts: Maybe my temps are lower than you may get because I have a specialty case for it... Aerocool Vx-R and and a 2000RPM 120mm Fan behind it as a type of additional fan for the heat to be exhaled from the system properly rather than circulate partially in my system case.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cooler

Pros: - Relatively easy to install
- Keeps my i7 processor around 35 degrees when surfing web and under 50 degrees while gaming

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: It's a decently sized cooler, and it just barely fit over the heat sinks on my RAM. The plus side is that now it cools my RAM along with the processor!

5 out of 5 eggsCool and Quiet!

Pros: -Extremely Quiet! Made my old CPU cooler sound like a rumbling hurricane.
-Not bad stock thermal compound.
-Price.

Cons: -Thing is quite large, make sure you have the extra room in your case.

Other Thoughts: I mounted this on a AMD Phenom II x4 955 OC to 3.8GHz. The stock cooler that came with the processor on full load would bring the temps to ~72C.
Installing the Freezer 7 Pro I saw a huge improvement, ran Toast on the machine for 30+ minutes and the temps never breached 54C.
I can only expect great things from future use.

5 out of 5 eggsTo TGB

Pros: More than adequate for cooling moderately overclocked CPUs, dual core Intel CPUs [up to 4GHz ~ 4.2], and Intel quad cores from 3.5GHz ~ 3.7GHz, depending on the CPU family.

Cons: Not many, mainly the fan, the cooler is made to use a special shroud.

Other Thoughts: TGB,

The cooler comes with very good compound already applied. Also, Arctic Silver is not the best compound, by a wide margin. I have tested it myself and it is inferior to Arctic Cooling MX-2.

The two biggest reasons this cooler does not do well for some people because they use thermal compound improperly [too much] and/or the unit is not properly secured to the motherboard.

Please do everyone a favor and learn how to properly use heat sink compound and install coolers before leaving negative comments.

You are not alone in this and I am addressing this to many other people who need a little more education.

Too much compound restricts heat from the CPU reaching the cooler. If the cooler is not properly installed an air gap will result and the CPU can get very hot.

Intel's retail coolers have instructions regarding OEM style cooler install. It is best to install the cooler with the motherboard out of the case, you can see if the plastic pins are through and locked
