Fantastic, with one catch
- Pros: How can it get any better than silent? My video card went from being the loudest component in my system (Sapphire X1950Pro) to being 100% silent. My hard drives are now the most audible part of my computer, with my processor fan producing a barely audible whisper. This is a fantastic improvement. Temperatures seem good so far, too.
- Cons: The adhesive on the RAM heat sinks is roughly as effective as licking the heat sinks and hoping the heat causes your saliva to bond to the metal. They wiggle while you're holding them in place, and the moment you turn it over to install it onto the card, some of them fall right off. I held them in place for a good 30 seconds each, then let it set for about an hour and a half, and within five minutes of turning on my computer I heard one of them fall off (easy to hear over the silence). Had to disassemble it and use the thermal putty that was on the original heat sink to re-adhere the three that had come off by the time I had it out of the computer. I strongly recommend being careful with your old one in case you have to do the same. Or get some Artic Thermal Adhesive if you plan not to remove this thing.
- Other Thoughts: The RAM heat sinks were enough of a pain in the neck (NewEgg blocks the B-word that describes one's posterior) to force this down to four stars. Everything else about it screams five stars and I'm still happy I bought it. I sure hope they improve the adhesive for future buyers, though.
Awesome cooler for ATI 4850
- Pros: Awesome cooling even in passive mode. Lowered a VisionTek 4850 from 79c Idle/90c load to 43c idle/60c load. That's serious. Gonna strap a 140mm yate loon to see how much cooler it goes.
- Cons: HUGE - not really a con if you have the case for it. Fins can be sharp. Be careful.
- Other Thoughts: Voltage heat sink is too long for the 4850. I ended up using zalman ram sinks (the blue ones).
There are 4 screws that let you adjust the plate position. The 4850 requires the alternate position for clearance. Pretty simple, though.

Very good cooling
- Pros: Sort of east to install on a evga 9800gt.
Very good cooling *see other thoughts*
Replaced stock heatsink on evga 9800gt when the fan died.
- Cons: The adhesive on the memory heat sinks does not work all that well. I eventually had to hold them in place for 2 min then wait a few hours letting gravity help after that before installing the card, and even then they still didnt stay on.
- Other Thoughts: According to the reviews this cools very well, and I agree. I had a extra pci slot cooler sitting around and decided to see if that does anything, and it did. Evga 9800 gt overclocked (with evga precision) at 740 core clock, 1850 shader clock, and 1020 memory clock, running boinc cuda (thoroughly best stress test I know) doesn't go past 130F. The only downside to this setup is it uses 3 total slots on your motherboard. Luckily I only have it, and another 9800gt on the motherboard, which effectively uses every slot (2nd 9800gt being dual slot as well).
Not gonna brag about what I have like what most other reviewers, but I will include what is relevant. I have a antec 300. I have the side panel 120mm fan blowing air from outside onto the video card, and the pci slot cooler taking heat off the heatsink and blowing it out of the case.
broke my card!!
- Pros: shuts your video card up!!
- Cons: After using my stock BFG 6800GTOC for over 3 years I decided to replace the loud fans for this. I followed the instructions to a T and no more than 3 months later the video card would artifact in POST.... trashed... (but silent)
Very Nice
- Pros: Does a great job cooling my 9800GTX+. Deff needs a fan with this card, but that's mfg spec, so you can't complain. I strapped a 3 speed 120mm Antec fan to it and on medium that's plenty to keep my temps waaaayyyyyy below stock cooler. Even makes my northbridge a few C cooler.
- Cons: Even following the instructions on cleaning the oily stuff from the stock cooler from the voltage regs and memory with an eraser; I had some issues getting a couple of the VRM coolers to stick. It's almost like a couple of my VRMs were smooth instead of textured, and no amount of cleaning seemed to help.
- Other Thoughts: To get the two VRM coolers to stick I flipped the Video card upside down with a book on it to hold them in place for a few hours, which seems to have done the trick. Also, while my standard thickness 120mm fan does the job for me, if you're going to SLI, you'll need something thinner; I've looked at the Scythe SY1212SL12SL, which if you put two on the cooler (yeah, it's that big) would give the same CFM I have right now at about the same DB level.
