3 out of 5 eggsRe - Review

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 240mm

Pros: Does what it says and does it without making much noise. Even at full tilt it is/was quieter than my old system.

Cons: The temps for the cpu were never right. If my Asus mb reported 95f/35c the Corsair link reported like 42f/11c

5 out of 5 eggsFirst water cooler

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 240mm

Pros: - Quiet when not under load
- Easy enough to install, though has many cables
- Great quality fans to mount to radiator
- Keeps machine quite cool when not under load

Cons: - Noticeable fan/pump spin up when small computational spikes occur
- Many cables to run to/from water cooling plate - fan power, pump power, Corsair LiNK USB cable

Other Thoughts: I didn't know what to expect from an AiO water cooler, but I planned to overclock my 5820k, so I made the jump and got this while on sale with a rebate.

All the reviews tend toward the positive and there's a reason why. This is a great cooler, and is very quiet when not under load. Stress spikes sometimes cause audible noise, and it does speed up while playing a game, but that inevitable and something I personally think is for the operator to manage via headphones, tower positioning, etc.

5 out of 5 eggsLove this thing

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 240mm

Pros: I have had this cooler for over seven months, still keeps my amd 7850k @4.6 GHz @ 29c idle and never over 50c no matter what game I play or for how long, well worth the price!

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsGreat with my FX8350

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 240mm

Pros: Price, size, compatibility.

Cons: Make sure your case can accommodate this. My Antec 1200 has dual 120mm on the back but that doesn't necessarily mean its going to fit nicely. The only way I could get it to mount in my case was to leave the two 120mm fans on the back mounted to the case, and then mount/screw the radiator TO those fans, and then screw the corsair fans on the other side of the radiator. Which is all good but it took me a while to figure this out. Very quiet, very nice looking and cools very well. The software you get from corsair is nice too you can adjust the LEDs.

4 out of 5 eggsSimple setup, adequate performance

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 240mm

Pros: The setup was just as easy as any air cooler. I installed it into the Corsair Carbide 500r (which has a bay in the top for fitting a radiator block) and everything fit together without much trouble.

The performance is pretty good, not as good as an enthusiast-level custom rig but better than I expected from the price tag. My 4790k at stock clock speed idled at 26°C (ambient+4°C) and 50°C (ambient+24°C) under load. I haven't overclocked it, but I'm pretty confident that it could hit 5ghz once a game gives me a reason to go over stock.

Reasonable noise. It's pretty silent on idle because the idle temperature can be handled without fans. Under load the fans spin up and the stock fans aren't too noisy but if you want a properly silent setup you're going to want to replace them.

Cons: Not modular, you won't be able to work this into a full water cooling system.

The plastic part of the connector for the fan power splitter on the water block fell off with almost no pressure, this hasn't affected anything but it made it mildly inconvenient to get the plug on, but on the upside it comes with double the connectors that you'll need so it wouldn't even be a problem with a standard installation.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 240mm

Pros: Easy to install, works great.

Cons: Software not the greatest, ok, but not the greatest. I wish it was a little more user friendly

1 out of 5 eggsTERRIBLE

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 240mm

Pros: NONE

Cons: I have tried three of them and not a one has worked. The first would not connect to the corsair link. The second the pump failed within an hour of being hooked up. The third one lasted less than a week and the pump failed. The LED control in corsair link never worked, it would not stay the proper color selected even though the settings were saved.

Other Thoughts: Newegg has been helpful with issues as always. I just hope I can get a refund for this part it is useless.

4 out of 5 eggsNot too bad

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 240mm

Pros: It is a great product. To be honest it is good but not as good as the Hyper Evo 212 I had in before this. Usually the pump runs semi quiet it can be hurt if you are a audiophile but not a bad product

Cons: Not as quiet as imagined

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well when configured correctly

This review is from: CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 240mm

Pros: Keeps my i7 4770K at low temperatures and cools it down quickly when it does get high. I run in pull configuration using the h100i fans as exhaust. I have four intake fans at 64CFM. Corsair link reports 30C at idle running h100i fans at 550rpm and 47C under load at 2200rpm; I also primarily live in the north. Being a closed loop it’s easy to install. All cases are different and can’t be a perfect installation for everyone. I had to mod my case to fit the system in there. I’ve read complaints about the screws being the wrong length. Easy solution, measure your fan to rad depth and purchase the correct length you’ll need for your case at your hardware store. It’s cheap in comparison with high end brands for the performance that the majority of customers seek. The LED light is fully customizable to any color. It can be completely dimmed if desired or can change with the system’s temps.

Cons: Probably the most common complaint about this cooler is the noise. Under full load these fans are loud. So loud you’ll start to have a headache, either from the fans or the volume in your headset. The culprit for all this aggravation is the default settings with your motherboard cranking these fans up to max. I was never pleased until I setup a custom curve in Corsair Link (software). Now they are completely tolerable. When performing lite activity the fan curve is set to run at inaudible noise still keeping the CPU at low temps and when gaming or rendering the curve is increased to moderate speeds that aren’t heard over my speakers or headset. My ceiling fan produces more noise. Now on the rare occasions when my graphics card reaches extreme temperatures and starts cooking everything inside I crank the rpm’s to max for a few minutes to bring everything back under 50C. Something to take in consideration about the fans supplied with the h100i is they can run up to 2600rpm. Any fan running at that speed is loud. I’ve tried replacing them with Scythe and Noctua fans but ended up returning back to them because they cool the best. I believe most of this is due to the high static pressure which is almost double then most high ends brands for rads. If you don’t mind higher temps than stock the Noctua fans are a good replacement (the industrial ones are louder which compared closest in performance). The Scythe where good but started malfunctioning a couple months in.

Other Thoughts: If your case will allow you to equip larger fans, I recommend it. Or purchase a different closed loop with larger rad and 140mm fans.
