Zalman bills itself as the "quiet cooling solution" and they have a reputation for easy to use, reliable products. They also have a reputation for creating products that look as good as they run. A quiet, downward blowing 80mm dual ball bearing fan sits at the heart of an array of pure copper thin fins.

It operates at a low noise level of 20dBA - 36dBA + 10% and runs at 1650RPM-3600RPM + 10%. With its unrestricted flow, it cools not only the VGA chipset and RAM, but the other VGA components.

The LED's within the fan reflecting off the copper surfaces makes the cooler look like an inferno as it draws damaging heat away from the VGA card by the pure copper base of the heatsink and it is transferred up into the orderly arrays of copper thin fins (0.3mm) for dissipation. And the newly improved installation structure provides easy installation and broad compatibility.

  • newegg VFP Technology Armed with the VFP (Variable Fin Profile) technology, the Zalman Z-MachineGV1000 VGA cooler installs its fan inside the heatsink to maximize dissipation surface area and cooling efficiency for your VGA card.
  • newegg Excellent Cooling Performance The Zalman Z-MachineGV1000 VGA cooler features 4 high performance heatpipes and pure copper thin fins (0.3mm), plus a slim 80mm dual-ball bearing LED fan for premium heat dissipation of your VGA card.
  • newegg Included Fan Controller The Zalman Z-MachineGV10000 VGA cooler includes a fan controller to adjust fan speed according to your preference of cooling or quietness.
  • newegg Easy Installation and Broad Compatibility Newly improved installation structure provides easy installation and broad compatibility with a wide range of ATI/NVIDIA graphics cards.

5 out of 5 eggsNice VGA Cooler

Pros: Great VGA cooler replacement for the price. Keeps temps lower than OEM woot!

Cons: See other thoughts...

Other Thoughts: My ATI Radeon 4800 series cooling fan was going through the death rattles. I called for an RMA through the Manyfacture but the idea of taking it out the card and waiting for a replacement was not my idea of a good time.
Bought this unit (made sure my card was on the "yes it will work list" from Zalmans website) and installed without a hitch.
Just make sure to take the time to clean everything up with rubbing alcohol before installing all the Ram sinks and new cooler and you will be happy!

4 out of 5 eggsheat sink

Pros: worked better than i thought it would, kept my 550 ti at 28c idle and around 45-50 gaming maxed out settings.

Cons: the fan stopped working and by the time i realized it wasn't working my gpu was at 68c and the fan melted off the heat sink,,,

Other Thoughts: i replaced the fan with a higher rpm blue led fan and it runs at 43c gaming and 25c idle

5 out of 5 eggstired of clunky stock heat sinks?

Pros: everything.

Cons: couldn't connect fan controller directly to video card, just connected it directly to motherboard, skip the fan controller, its useless.

Other Thoughts: installed on 5850 with arctic silver 5, temps went down 25 degrees, no clunky sounds, bliss.

5 out of 5 eggsAWSOME

Pros: This thing rocks!!! I bought this for my GTS 450 and it fits just fine with no problems installing. THE Z-MACHINE comes with 8RAM HEAT SINKS and the GTS 450 has 8 RAM CHIPS. Load on SWTOR was 140°F before the Z-MACHINE and after the cooler install it droped down to 97°F.

Cons: NONE!

Other Thoughts: WAS NOT FREE. :)

4 out of 5 eggsIT'S REALLY COPPER

Pros: It turns out that its nickel or chrome plated or something. I had to grind an edge off and remove a heatpipe to get it to fit (it still works better than the stock cooler I had) and underneath the plating sure enough its made of copper. On both the heatpipes and the fins. I have a Zalman cpu copper cooler and after a few years the copper looks like garbage, so I think the plating is just Zalman's way of trying to give us a product that won't look terrible later on down the road.

The little memory cooling modules are a nice touch, too. They stick real good.

Cons: Heavy. Its makes the cards sag in their slots. On my motherboard I have to use two specific slots to keep my cards in 16x-16x and the memory coolers on the top of the one card interfere with the fan on the bottom of the next. Overall a good product though.

Other Thoughts: I had to cut a heatpipe out and some fins in order to fit it to my card and it STILL cools better than the stock garbage cooler xfx put on it. Zalman makes a good product and I won't mind buying from them again in the future, even if the instructions are in some kind of engrish.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Price, Keeps it cool!

Pros: I bought this for a BFG GeForce 6800 Ultra (AGP) as a replacement for the stock fan. Temps before installation were 52C at idle, and 80-90C under load while running MOH Airborne or COD4 maxed out, with the card overclocked 50MHZ on the core (450MHZ). After installation, I am seeing 42C at idle and around 60C under load running the sames games mentioned above, but with the card overclocked 462/560.

Cons: None at the moment.

Other Thoughts: Was a great deal; purchased on sale for $30 shipped. Very easy installation for my card, seems very well built.

2 out of 5 eggsMediocre

Pros: Affordable. Easy installation. Wide array of supported cards.

Cons: -The first unit DID NOT have any mounting screws or other items.

-The temps are not that much cooler than the OEM cooler which it replaced.

-They claim it's copper, but it feels like aluminum.

-NewEgg's replacement policy - $9.00 shipping out of my pocket for THEIR mistake.

Other Thoughts: installed on a 4890 @ 950MHz / 1150MHz / 1.325v. Temps @ idle ~46C / Load ~74C.

5 out of 5 eggsWow, Better than suspected

Pros: So I have a 4890. Was expecting some drop in temp.I was super surprised to see load temps go from mid 90's down to 64 degrees celsius.

Cons: Fan is a little annoying at full speed, although not so much fan noise, but whoosh of air.

Other Thoughts: With the cooler temps, I may try to overclock and bring a little new life to this aging card

4 out of 5 eggsGood cooling, but...

Pros: Good cooling, dropped from 60C at load to 48C
Easy to install.
Very universal design.
Red light on the fan.

Cons: Not copper as advertised, this is aluminum.
Manual fan speed controller.
No way to connect to on board 4pin fan power/speed controller.

Other Thoughts: Cheap easy and it works well. I installed this on my 9800gtx+ that was hitting 60C at load, 40C idle. Now it runs at 48C loaded and low 30C idle.
It cooled it enough that I was able to even OC the card a bit (I bumped it up to the retail OC specs) and even at full load it only reached 52C.

The fan controller is stupid and requires a 3 pin power connection. Luckily I had an 4-pin molex to 3 pin adapter in my spare parts box. I would have really liked to plug into the 4pin on the board itself.
This model is not copper, it is aluminum. Newegg also sells the copper version, but it is twice as much.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Installation was quick and easy after I went to the store to get alcohol to clean the old thermal compound off the graphics card. Temps seem to be in the mid 60's Celsius.

Cons: Did not come with enough glue on ram heatsinks. It only came with 8 and my 8800 gts has 10 that need to be covered. Good thing I bought 2 for my sli set up, guess i will need to buy some more ram heat sinks before I install the second one though..

Also I noticed when taking off the old heat sink it covered more areas with thermal compound than the new one, now some very small portions are not covered by anything. Hope it doesn't fry.
