Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler

Unmatched performance for the value, these are the tenants that guided Cooler Master engineers when designing the Hyper 212 EVO. Patented Continuous Direct Contact (CDC) technology ensures that the heat pipes are free of barriers while drawing heat away from the processor. A PWM fan ensures that fan speed can be intelligently controlled to ensure that it only speeds up when more cooling is necessary.

4 out of 5 eggsNice, but too BIIIGG

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: -Pretty huge

Cons: -My mistake, but it's WAAAYY to big for my Corsair Graphite 380T. Didn't actually look at it's dimensions when purchasing.

Other Thoughts: I think it would've done it's job perfectly, but didn't fit. Had to go purchase something smaller. Passing this to a friend.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cooler for an i7-5820k Processor

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: I bought this cooler for a basic "stock" cooler since the i7-5820k did not come with any heatsync/fan. The cooler works great at stock speeds of 3.3ghz and keeps the processor cool at 4.0 ghz as well. All of my games are running above 60 fps on max including GTA 5, Ryse and Rainbow Six Siege to name a few with my GTX 980. I did not feel the need to overclock the 5820k further, but that is for a review on the 5820k's page. Temperatures stay at 28c on idle with 51c on load in game. Stress tests bring the CPU into the low 60's which is more than reasonable.

Cons: The instructions for the mounting post screws are a bit off. They make the taller stand screws look smaller in the instructions which can lead to some people using the wrong posts for the job.

Other Thoughts: The direction of the fan is a very important element. I can't count how many reviews i've read with people complaining about temperatures still being high for a large cooler. Please note that the fan come in PUSH mode, not pull mode. This means when the fan is clipped to the heatsync it will be PUSHING air through the metal fins. If you face your fan on the wrong side you will be blowing your CPU's hot air back inside of your case instead of into your exhaust fans. I've mounted the fan in both locations and the difference in temperature can range from 5-15c higher if you are not pushing the air towards your exhaust fans.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great for a while.

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Keeps my CPU cool.
Looks nice too

Cons: After a year or two of use, the fan on the heat sink completely stopped. I noticed a light whirring sound coming from it, checked it out, and it was stopped. I had to buy a replacement fan, but I'm afraid that this one may stop working sometime as well.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend it, but keep an eye on it if you hear noises coming from your pc.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's this popular for a reason.

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Great cooler. Looks awesome. Cools wonderfully.

Cons: Slightly annoying mounting hardware, but this is to be expected. It's a CPU cooler after all.

5 out of 5 eggsCooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Highly Effective cooling
Silent operation compared to stock AMD fans
Light Weight and sturdy
helps drastically assist additional cooling fans
second fan hardware included to make it that much better of a cooler
allows higher overclocks with reduced overall temperatures

Cons: Cannot use side door case fan with antec 900 case because the fan hits the cooler preventing the door from mounting on the case
(Easy to mod door and remove plastic and mount fan in custom location on mesh vent tho)

Doesnt come with second fan to ensure equivalent fans are used in dual fan situation like mine

Had to remove mobo from case to install with amd am3 ASUS Crosshair III Formula (not really so bad)

Other Thoughts: ASus Crosshair III formula was only able to oc phenom xII 965 be x4 to around 4.9ghz game and bench stable on the stock amd cooler. temps where usually around 34 idle and 54 under load. After installing the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - with an additional fan from the antec 900 case door, my temps are cool and low! In idle i see 28- 29 after coming down from full load of only 42 44 now. Im able to run the 965 be @ 19x217fsb to get 4.12ghz. Despite still burning in with artic silver 5 my max temp to be seen is 44 celcius while gaming or mulittasking with up to four stress tests/benches simultaneously. voltage have remainned the same throughout my oc @ 1.3875 core. Amazing how one cheap cooler cant change the game for a cpu. Ive had the zalman 9900 when it was 65 bucks for am2 system with bad resullts.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's a cooler. A tall one at that.

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Seems to work well. Option to add a second fan.

Cons: - Not a con per se, but ask yourself if you really need this much cooler.
- Again, not a con, more a caution -> It is tall, the outside dimensions of my case are 7.5 inches wide and it just _barely_ makes it in.
- Another caution, mounting can be a little tricky, the unit can rotate if pushed while fiddling in your case.
- Another caution, could block your memory slot, put memory in first, if so.

Other Thoughts: Yeah, I'd recommend it. I got 4.5 out of my 3.5 i5 Skylake without even trying. Is the cooler that good or the chip that overclockable? I dunno. I think the potential is there for this to be a great cooler, and maybe it is. It is just the size and mounting make it somewhat unwieldy. Eh, for the price, go for it. All that copper and fins have to be doing something!

4 out of 5 eggsNice Fan, Easy install

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Fan, but Not an Easy Install

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Dropped the temperature by like 10-12 degrees Celsius. Quiet enough. Don't really hear it, but that could just be me. Highly recommend this fan for anyone looking to put on an after-market fan for their CPU (which you should do, in my opinion.).

Cons: The installation was... kind of tricky for my motherboard, but that might be unique, which is why I do not think taking an egg off might be unwarranted. I installed it on a Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 R5 and it the fins got in the way of the screws and it was not very fun to install them.

Another con I can say is the one about the instructions. They were not very helpful. Just check the youtube videos if you get stuck. Again, the product itself is solid, which is why it's not worth taking an egg off.

Other Thoughts: Unless you're an enthusiast who likes to do things just to make like harder for yourself only to get a marginal advantage in cooling, go with an air-cooler as opposed to liquid cooling.

5 out of 5 eggsCool, Quiet, Easy, Big.

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: - Keeps the processor cool. Just like it should.
- Doesn't even make a whisper.
- Easy enough install

Cons: - It's a bit big, in my opinion. Had a hard time fitting it in my case, but that was just bad judgement on my part.
- Doesn't come with any thermal paste, but that's not a big deal. Five dollars fixes that problem.

Other Thoughts: Make sure your case is big enough. I'm using an NZXT Guardian, and it's scraping along the side panel. Simply a lack of research on my part, but be sure to do your research.
