It works and it's not made of cheap plastic. It's more of a tough rubber type plastic. Perfect for outdoor use.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat when they work

Pros: When you get one that's working, the boost to the signal is excellent, making it a great value for the price.

Cons: I've probably bought 15 of Rosewill's 8db antennas over the past two years, and roughly 6 of them have been duds. They are very hit or miss, and it can make for a bad day when you've got a miss and are wondering why the wireless isn't working.

Other Thoughts: When you consider the price of Rosewill's antennas vs. other brands it's generally still cheaper to throw away 1 in 3 (or pursue warranty if you have the time and energy, unlike me) than to buy a different brand.

3 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: - Works

Cons: - Works no better than the small 2dBi antenna included with the RNX-G1W wireless dongle.

Other Thoughts: This antenna was included for free with my RNX-G1W. I did some tests with Linux and Windows moving around in a few areas around the house, and could not see any improvement with this antenna compared to the regular 2dBi one. But it was free, so I thought, "whatever".

1 out of 5 eggsNo Improvments

Pros: Looks High Performance (about a foot long)

Cons: I took off my small antenna's that came with the internal wifi card and it didn't improve anything. I still have the same number of bars as before I installed these antenna's (and i bought 2)

Pros: Purchased to compete!
I lived in an apartment complex where many people competed with the channels that I was trying to use for wireless. With these antenna, I was able to make my connection from something I wondered about to something I didn't notice.

Cons: Pretty big. Not that this is a con, but something to be aware of when putting devices in cabinets.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad, not great

Pros: Its a relativity cheap antenna. It also slightly improves your signal strength.

Cons: It only slightly improves your signal strength and rattles if you shake it.

Other Thoughts: I got it to replace a 5 dbi rated antenna, which it does in fact seem to be slightly better. However, I definitely did not see any big jumps in my signal strength but for the price its alright.

5 out of 5 eggsServes It's Purpose.

Pros: Reasonable price, perfect size, fits Linksys WMP54GS adapter, improved my connection.

Cons: Nah!

Other Thoughts: I already had a strong and fast wireless conection so that's not what I was aiming to improve with this purchase. I did notice my signal strength increase 1-2% over the stock antenna. The problem I was having was with packet loss between my router and my computer. With this antenna, I have not lost a packet so far and judder is now almost non-existant.

Pros: Works good. Able to pick up 11 more networks that I was not able to before, and improved the signal by 1-3 bars on another 9 networks that were found before. The antenna does swivel once it's bent, just it's really stiff. Overall a good buy.

Cons: A little on the heavy side, so I have to be careful with it when unplugging the USB adapter into my laptop since the additional weight puts some strain on it. It's about 11 3/4" tall when bent 90 degrees and about 12 1/4" tall when straight.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: I recently resurrected an old Gateway laptop (bought it in 2008) with a pentium II and a USB 1.0 connector running Windows ME. I wanted to use the wifi at the public library when I go there. I downloaded the drivers for this adapter from the Rosewill website and installed and plugged in the adapter. I was wondering because I had read some have had problems with Windows 98 install. Installed in a couple minutes with no hitches at all. At my home I was able to pick up 10 different wifi networks one of which had 92% signal strength. I could not be happier with this product.

Cons: Well... none.

Other Thoughts: Some reviews have noted failures after using for a short time so we will see but so far so good.

1 out of 5 eggsnot worth a stink.

Pros: its cheap and makes for a great pointing device.

Cons: vswr are very high i dont see how they can claim a gain of 8dbi with a standing wave ratio of almost 2.0:1 - 2.5:1 this is actually causin my AP to have excessive wear on transmitter as there is excessive feedback. sorry im a ham radio operator also..

Other Thoughts: see those antennas made by cisco that are going upwards of 195.00 and up look for this number 1.7:1 vswr or lower, ideal would be around 1.1:1 vswr. this is the least resistance you can get which means the AP is able to put out maximum power and the signal has the least distortion. ALSO your AP will last 10X longer with less wear on the final out put circuit..the best place to put ANY antenna is outdoor the higher the less restriction.it only has penetrate the roof layer of the home. not 6 walls..

1 out of 5 eggsWorthless

Pros: none Im aware of at this point

Cons: I bought 2 of these. tried one on a Belkin PCI Wireless-G card in a desktop in the far end of the house. This desktop is on the fringe and picks up a very weak signal from an "N" router. Installing one of these antennas, actually made the connection slower, and worse.

I then tried both of them on the Encore N wireless router. replaced the factory antennas (2.5db I think) with these 8db. Same thing... every computer's signal strength actually DROPPED when the router had these on it! took them off and went back to the factory antennas.

Other Thoughts: dont waste your money. wish I could have given it a rating of zero.
