5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent drive! Came next day in unopened original box bundled with Nero 9. Burns CD's in half the time my old drive did. Very quiet as well. Would recommend this drive!

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsComes in retail packaging and with Nero Essentials 9

Pros: This drive comes in the regular retail packaging, and it comes with Nero Essentials 9. I installed the drive, installed Nero, and burned a DVD in just over an hour. Piece of cake. I think it is worth an extra couple of bucks to get the retail packaging.

Cons: No cons.

Other Thoughts: I think this is the one to buy if you need an IDE DVD drive. Note that the jumper comes on the "Slave" setting, so you might need to change it to "Master" or "Cable Select". If you change the number of CD/DVD drives in your machine, you might need to tell the BIOS how many drives you have. An old Dell computer I have kept looking for a CD drive that I removed. An old HP figured it out automatically.

4 out of 5 eggsOwned 3 years

Pros: Works out of the box. No issues when this was bought new.

Cons: Bought in 2009 and now have issues. Will not burn anything. I have a friend who bought one like this, same brand in 2004 from here, and hasn't had an issue one. This is my second drive. My first was a Sony

Other Thoughts: Looking back threw history, I bought this on 7/20/2009. It has seemed to have served me well till last month when I tried to burn a CD. For some reason it will not do it but still reads DVD's and CD's just fine. After reinstalling drivers it still operates the same and will not burn anything. Although I like having the lightscribe feature, I never really use it much so I'm not sure if more bells and whistles help or hinder. I do believe I would buy this item and recommend it to others. Good Luck!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Drive

Pros: Speedy drive. OK noise. No issues. Lightscribe freature is nice to have for those few discs where it's worth the longer wait.

4 out of 5 eggsThe PERFECT DVD Drive

Pros: These are fairly good drives. I've bought several and they always work well. I'm not sure what more anyone could want from a DVD drive.

Cons: They could be quieter. But for the price, that's no problem. They don't always seem stable when burning at full speed. But they usually burn great at lower speeds.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat...for 13 months.

Pros: It's cheap, it worked great when I got it... but wasn't meant to last.

Cons: One day this month (13 months after ownership), it literally stopped reading any discs. I tried everything, including a clean boot start. The drive was powered, it could open and close its tray, and it spun the disc... it just couldn't read anything. Truly a sad shocker, but you get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: If you need a good drive, low on cash and not expecting a long term investment, this might be the way to go... "A temporary fix" type of drive.

5 out of 5 eggsLITEON always reliable

Pros: I have installed many different burners in different pc's, but liteon seems to always work the best as far as recognizing discs and burning without errors, never a complaint.

Cons: no complaints, Liteon always works for me.

Other Thoughts: I have owned liteon and never had a problem, I have used other brands and had a lot of problems when the drive would not recognize different blanks, liteon always recognized all of th brands I use, for the price it's a really good drive.
