5 out of 5 eggsGreat bang for the buck!

Pros: Large screen real estate (up from my 19" anyway), bright and light. VESA mount is a must have. Cheaper than my initial 19" purchase four years ago so I didn't really even feel like I was buying up. I plugged it in and had a beautiful display without a hitch. Would certainly buy again. Colors are great.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Purchased with 3-day delivery. Was here the next day. Gotta love that.

1 out of 5 eggsAgain?

Pros: It's... decent size.

Cons: Poor stand, defective.

Other Thoughts: Seems like every 3rd or 4th time I go to Newegg for a purchase, I get burned. I received this monitor after much research and talking to techies on tomshardware. They assured me the monitor was a good choice for gaming and I just built a new gaming PC so I needed a new display to replace my old, failing CRT.

I buy the monitor and fully expect it to be faulty or something to go wrong the moment I placed the order. So many times, things have backfired that my natural state of mind when ordering parts is 'This is going to be ****ed up when it gets here'. Well, I was not surprised when I plugged the monitor in and saw that it has a faulty backlight. The top half of the screen is darker than the bottom, there are areas where the lighting inside the monitor is clearly spotty and the sides, like the other reviewers here have stated, are yellow. In fact, it has caused me eye strain and I write this with a headache. I'm trying to avoid using my computer because of this but it's kind of hard to, honestly.

I chose to call ASUS for a repair instead of newegg. I was told this was a better idea and, out of personal experience, agreed. I RMA'd a power supply I bought that was supposed to be brand new previously and they sent the exact same one back claiming it was a replacement. The wires on that power supply are still chipped at the clips and one of them has bent pins. It's a replacement they said! Okay.

So, instead of going through 10+ days of expecting them to lie to me and send the same monitor back claiming it was a different one or, at the very least, that they fixed it, I just called the manufacturer. in 2014, should a brand new, never used before, 200 dollar LCD monitor not be more clear than a 13 year old CRT with a busted capacitor?

Honestly, you guys need to rethink your shipping methods. You get an order, send it to a warehouse, let some ape in a jump suit throw the thing into a box, throw that into a truck and then I receive a faulty piece of hardware. This is a 200 dollar monitor, IT SHOULD WORK RIGHT... You never test these things, you just get the order and ship the items out. You need to start actually testing these things before sending them out to ensure they work correctly, as they are supposed to. Imagine all the time and money you'd save if you checked these things first instead of blindly shipping faulty items. For **** sakes, the box I received with the monitor inside was tiny! It was barely bigger than the monitor! There were two pieces of shipping styrofoam inside and they were on the sides of the monitor. NOTHING was protecting the top, bottom, back or front! The screen was almost touching the box! What if someone had hit the front? And if you did test it then someone isn't doing their job right.

I didn't pay 150 (price dropped) to have a faulty monitor sent to me. I'm so jaded from having this type of experience with ordering parts that I fully expect the ASUS guys to screw me as well. Here's hoping, right?

4 out of 5 eggsAmazing with one crucial flaw

Pros: The value this thing has is amazing. Bright, vibrant, easy to look at. I played a few games on this like sonic generations, left 4 dead 2, borderlands 2, battlefield 4, and this thing rocks for gaming, I mean the visuals were beautiful colors (especially with sonic). I have watched a few 1080p movies on this and of course they looks quite good. Very nice blacks. I use this with a Mac Pro with an evga gtx650ti and they play very very nice together. It has hdmi and dvi which is all I need and I agree with the quality that asus puts out. Buy their routers if you can also.

Cons: The base is AWFUL. I mean if a squirrel farts outside this thing wobbles. I have a large desk and if my knee hits the desk or if I adjust my chair this whole thing is wabbling like the tower of pisa. Still get this thing though if you can

Other Thoughts: I researched which monitor to get for a while, I am a huge fan of Acer also as I purchased 30 or so from here for my job. They are also very nice, but I had a gift card and chose to go with this one because everyone raved about it. I am in agreement, this was well worth the purchase and I really really like the Asus warranty also. A great buy if you can spare the $$.

4 out of 5 eggsGood But Not Great

Pros: Cheap, bright, good colors for a TN*, VESA mounting.

Cons: Stand is wobbly. If you don't have a rock solid desk, you better buy a VESA mount.
Color needs adjusted pretty badly out of the box. Mine came very yellow-ish. But after some tinkering it looks good.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't suggest this for multi-monitor gaming. The bezels are somewhat thick.
Only a good deal when on sale <$140.

3 out of 5 eggsOverall it is pretty good

Pros: The sale price (along with the rebate) that I got on this made it a good deal that was hard to pass up. The 23.6" screen size is nice. It works pretty well for the basic home office stuff that I need it for.

Cons: Before I bought it, I read the reviews that mention the stand being wobbly. But even knowing this in advance I was surprised to see how much the monitor moves around at even the smallest bump to my desk -- or even when I am typing on the keyboard.

The other issue I've noticed is that there is often a faint drop shadow-like effect on text when it's on a white background. I haven't messed with the settings much yet to see if I can fix it. However, this is something that I've never seen on any other monitor I've used. It can be annoying at times but most of the time it's not too noticeable.

Other Thoughts: For most people and for most purposes this monitor will do the job and overall it's pretty good. However, if you are picky and/or need a high end monitor for some reason than it might be worthwhile to compare this to some other options before making a purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsBright, clear, and good colors

Pros: -Clear picture
-High maximum brightness
-Good colors
-Low latency

Cons: -Doesn't sit completely level

Other Thoughts: The picture quality, 2ms latency, brightness (though you may want to to it down a bit), and color are all great. I use it for games, but I don't do graphic design or anything art related, so my color requirements aren't as stringent as some people's might be.

The stand for this monitor isn't great, in that it seems to be a little crooked. It sits stable, but just a little tilted to the left (even after adjusting it as far to the right as possible). Not the worst thing, though. It's pretty minimal.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor

Pros: Very vivid colors, great response time and nice build. Easily the best monitor I've ever had. The anti-glare film on the screen is great.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: It's a great monitor plain and simple.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfected Balance

Pros: The monitor was the perfect selection for me size-wise, and as far as quality goes, beyond imagination. It's lightweight but sturdy, very aesthetically pleasing, and the picture and operation is superb. This monitor has been great for me as a graphic designer and video editor. Blacks are ~black~, unlike with the previous LCD monitors I've worked on. This monitor, in my opinion, is the perfect size for anyone working on a single monitor or in conjunction with more, while still offering a vast viewing area and high-end quality picture. Big picture without much space-waste!

Cons: I can, personally, find no fault with my display as of the time of this review.

Other Thoughts: In my opinion, this is an amazing monitor for anyone for any use. It's sleek, accurate, and well-made.

1 out of 5 eggsInconsistent batches

Pros: I purchased one of these about a year ago. It has worked flawlessly, so I decided to buy a second one of the exact same monitor for a dual screen setup.

Cons: I purchased the second one back in April 2014. I noticed a bit of a color difference between my two monitors, but I decided to keep it anyway. However, the monitor has recently become UNUSABLE. The problem initially started with the monitor repeatedly turning itself on/off (see video for details). Now, it works for about 15 min and then the signal starts cutting in and out. I've tried all the inputs (VGA, DVI, HDMI) and the same problem is happening.

Other Thoughts: I've also noticed that the menu screen is a bit different between my 2 monitors. It is extremely disappointing that these two identical monitors are so inconsistent. I'm not sure what to do at this point.
