2 out of 5 eggsWas good While it lasted.....

Pros: Was great for 3 years. Good picture and quality that I would expect.

Cons: 3 years 6 months later the monitor keeps oscillating until finally there is no picture, that is until I hit the back of it.
Ive had this monitor stationary for more than a year. I moved it one time and was careful. It has been sitting at my place of business ever since. Called hoping someone would recognize that it just went out of warranty and how that might look. Customer support was very friendly and I did appreciate the attentiveness. Unfortunately it doesn't fix my monitor.
I have the option of sending in the monitor on my dime in which the repair cost can cost me up to 2 weeks of no monitor plus up to $135 to repair.
I believe I paid $165 at the time for the monitor.

This is all unacceptable, I have no guarantee of the price nor a good timeline for a replacement. 3 years seems to be the standard time when the glue falls off I suppose.

Other Thoughts: Before a tech responds to this review know that I have done all the troubleshooting steps. Changed cable, changed computers, tried dvi and hdmi. There are no bent pins, and no surges through my $150 surge protector.

I have a total of 5 asus monitors, and have built 3 computers for friends (one of them being my sister) and recommended asus to them. At this moment I am in the market for another monitor and am seriously wondering if Asus is the brand to go. I shouldn't have recommended them as this is my oldest monitor and now I am hoping the others don't go out of the "warranty" period.

I am definitely going to go with someone who I know will look at the situation and realize "Hey you buy a lot from us, this is barely out of warranty and we want to show that this doesn't happen often"

I'm not saying don't get asus, they seem to have good products, maybe I'm just mad cause I'm getting the short end of the stick right now, but honestly I expected someone to be able to do something more than what was done with repairs, shipping, etc.

I dunno 135 for a new model of the same monitor maybe?

Just my rant....

Pros: -built in speakers come in very handy, especially with console systems...
-Quality display
-strudy

Cons: -no issues yet...

Other Thoughts: If you're competitive gaming, you might want to consider a 120hz/1ms refresh rate monitor for a few more bucks.

2 out of 5 eggsNot a Keeper

Pros: worked well when it worked

Cons: Didn't last very long.
Maybe in today's throw away world things aren't meant to last more than a couple of years, but I still expect them to.
This monitor died after a little more than 2 years. To put that into perspective, I have a DELL 24 inch monitor that is still going strong after 5 years, and my first LCD monitor, a 17" Samsung, is still working and I purchased it new in 2000 (and paid a boat load for it then). Anyway, I don't necessarily expect a monitor to last for 15 years, but I certainly expect it to last longer than this one did. I will not buy another ASUS monitor, that's for sure.

5 out of 5 eggsExtensively used for almost 5 years

Pros: Beautiful display, ended up getting two of them for dual PC gaming monitors. I fell in love with the display immediately after putting everything together so much that I order a 2nd monitor post haste to dual the two lovelies. Crisp display and bright display with great response was exactly what I wanted for my 1st ever gaming rig that I built. Ran them extremely extensively for almost 5 years probably clocking 8-13+hrs/day easy. Absolutely was happy having them. I used speakers often so I didn't notice too much of it audio or a least that I can't recall how great they were over the course of the years usually had speakers or headsets for that. I started off without speakers so I don't believe they were terrible for me to hate it.

Recap:
-Bright, Crisp and Beautiful Display
-Seem Great for the price at the time
-Extensive Use

Cons: I did have seemingly concern of dead pixels on it over the course of having it all this time, usually never amounted to no more than thumbing over the display a few times and somehow it fixes itself. Frightening after seeing that the very first time it happened but then became annoying each time afterwards.

12/6/2014 Monitor died. RIP My lovely screen... you will be missed!

Other Thoughts: This afternoon however my main monitor seemed to have given out. Turned it on and it lit up very dim, blacked out followed by it appeared to have sounded like static noise after a few more seconds it did it for a 2nd and final time until you cut the power off completely and turn it back on and repeats. Almost had them for 5 years coming early-to-mid January in 2015. Otherwise it was good while it lasted. I don't know if this can be fixed at all but I would love any kind of information I can get for another solution other than forking over funds to another one if anything to save money.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Solid Gaming Monitor

Pros: Fast, reliable, easy to use.

Cons: Have not had any issues yet.

Other Thoughts: I originally bought this monitor to use with my PS3 but now use it for my desktop build as my primary screen. I have had no issues with the monitor to date (have had since early 2012).

3 out of 5 eggsIt looked nice, but

Pros: Crisp picture, and excellent response time. The gloss on the frame is pretty, but scuffed fairly easily.

Cons: Within 2 weeks, the power button had sunk in the unit and no longer worked to control the power, it would sometimes change the input though. 1 egg.

The screen itself isn't scratch resistant which makes it not a great idea to tote around.

After about 2 years, I got a solid purple line down the left side of the screen, it comes and goes, and I have to flick or tap the monitor to get it to step back in line. 1 egg.

Other Thoughts: Overall, if it was never touched, it's a great monitor. If you're gonna be toting around one, or having kids on the computer, don't expect the monitor to last you too long.
