4 out of 5 eggsLasted 18 months

Pros: Did it's thing on a desktop that was never turned off and used aggressively, probably could have lasted longer on someone's desktop that used it more gently (a lot of read/writes going on here).

Cons: None really, other than it did die.

5 out of 5 eggsWorking well so far...

Pros: Pretty good value, seems to be working quite well as a heavily-used ata drive. It's been running 24/7 for 3.5 months without any errors or timeouts. We'll see if this lasts - hoping...

Cons: none so far

1 out of 5 eggsNo more Seagates

Pros: None any more.

Cons: 2 out of 5 drives with sector errors and fails within a month, one of them crapped out on day one.

Other Thoughts: Meanwhile I have older 1TB seagates that were made in Thailand that have been running 24/7 for over 4 years. I even have 14 year old 120gb seagates that still work. Obviously, seagate thinks you're an idiot and is laughing at you for buying these things with a failure rate like I've seen with them lately. Whatever you save buying these turkeys will be down the drain by a factor of 100 in time wasted and data lost. Seagate/Barracuda used to mean something. Now it means cheap, disposable, chicomm garbage. I have over 20 disks spinning here around the clock, most of them are older Seagates. Not any more. Do yourself a favor and don't spend your money on these chicomm wonders. Three days wasted and counting.

2 out of 5 eggsSeagate disappointment

Pros: Capacity

Cons: Dead on Arrival. May not have been manufacturers fault. It appears someone? decided to play catch with the box. Internal plastic holder was broken on arrival.

4 out of 5 eggsMade me worried

Pros: Massive storage. Darn good transfer speeds for a spindle based hdd.

Cons: Odd rattling noise for the first 2 months, but it stopped.

Other Thoughts: I found it very distressing to find out that my hard drive was rattling like crazy. Then as time went on, it subsided so i guess its ok now? Guess i will find out in a year or two, but for now this is a very very good hard drive!

5 out of 5 eggsEverything I asked for

Pros: Super snappy, high read and write speed. Tons of space. Easy to install. Came with a SATA cable and a power adapter.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Just a heads up, for those who don't know Windows 7 Home Premium puts a cap at 2TB per HDD.

4 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: Fast, Cheap

Cons: Worry.

Other Thoughts: Had two of these in a NAS and one in a PC as storage for over a year now, the NAS is on almost 24/7 and the PC not far behind, all three retail box drives. So far so good, they are plenty fast, faster than the WD Black 2TB's I replaced, they run fairly cool, aren't overly noisy imo, and SMART says they are all good. I'm still nervous by all the complaints I see about them failing, but my 3 drive sample is still fine so far. I would not run them without a good mirror/backup of some sort, but they have been great so far.

3 out of 5 eggsdied dead in a year

Pros: if it works, it works well
a lot of storage

Cons: dumb me didn't have backups and this thing randomly up and quit in a year and four months

Other Thoughts: maybe seagate isn't the way to go... my western digital hard drive has been running just fine for four years. but, i learned to make back ups just in case!
