5 out of 5 eggsRefurb'ed Awesome

Pros: 5th April 2014
Acquired this drive for $49.00 and it's still functioning without an issue to this date of 14th January 2015. It serves as a tertiary drive for archiving.
18 April 2016, still functioning.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I have this drive and two others configured with a disk cache. The disk cache is comprised of (L1) 4G of RAM and a (L2) 4G Radeon RAMDisk. It's IOPS is "on par" with some SSD's. Yes, it's performance is augmented along with the EVO 120's and Seagate XT750 SSHD's.

1 out of 5 eggsCheap yet unreliable

Pros: Cheap, lots of space, seemed solid enough.

Cons: Purchased 2012 as a backup/storage drive with my SSD holding Windows and Programs. All that was stored was movies/pictures/documents on it, and it had a cataclysmal failure 4 years in. Lost everything. This was my storage drive and really had any read/write to it except on initial installation.

Other Thoughts: I had used another Seagate Barracuda Drive (500g) purchased in 2005 failed in 2006. So this is my 2nd and last time purchasing a seagate harddrive. I have several machines running WD Blue and WD Green TB Drives with no issues. Guess I shouldn't of bargain shopped on this seagate.

5 out of 5 eggsBig, Fast, and Built to Last

Pros: - The 7200RPM speed is great for load times in games and also when browsing files.
- Drive is super quiet
- Purchased the drive in September 2011, and it's still going strong currently (March 2016), despite daily usage for many hours.

Cons: - Not as fast as an SSD

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this drive to anybody who's looking for a good, sturdy drive that won't break down on them, and who also need a lot of storage space.

5 out of 5 eggsbarracuda 1tb

Pros: only use it for back-up. Has run maybe 30 minutes in 3 years. Fires right up, loads my files speedy-quick, and then it gets put back in the case.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: None of my 5 seagate hard drives has ever failed. My first "FreeAgent" 250Gb desktop model (2007) had a circut failure in the case - the dreaded "click of death" - click -click - click, BUT, I busted it out of the case & stuck it in a docking bay and all has been fine now for 2 years.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Really, I have no idea but it's been working for over a year now with no problems and I felt like it would be a shame if I didn't leave a review saying so.

Cons: Diedafter 3 and a half years .

5 out of 5 eggsBest HD I've ever had. 6 years and still going strong!

Pros: - Never lost any data.
- Always load into my games faster than my friends without SSDs.
- Insane value when I bought it.
- Very reliable and long lasting (6 years and still going!).

Cons: - I cannot think of a single con. This is a very nice hard drive.

Other Thoughts: - I would definitely recommend this to someone purchasing a HD years ago. Right now, the price doesnt justify this purchase, but if you get it at a discount, you will fall in love. It is fast and reliable. It will do its job.

4 out of 5 eggs2+ years and going strong.

Pros: Its a hard drive and it stores my data, consistently, without crashing. That is a plus enough for me given a lot of other hard drives will die on you in much quicker time.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Not sure why so many negative reviews around this hard drive, perhaps people just have bad luck or a bad batch of drives? If you can get in at a reasonable price, I would get one again.

2 out of 5 eggswow these things burn quick...

Pros: cheap, ughm.. meaning inexpensive

Cons: well, I have a raid array of these on my home server... and replaced two, soon to replace the third.. doesnt show much for the device if 3/4 went down so quick..

Other Thoughts: weird.. I was always a seagate fanboy until I got involved with this product... replacing way too many of them.

3 out of 5 eggsGood, not great.

Pros: Worked out of the box.

Cons: Simply decided it had had enough after 2 1/2 years. No warning, just went pfft!

Other Thoughts: For the price I paid, I guess I got my money's worth. Would have liked a little warning before it failed but fortunately I had everything backed up recently.
