2 out of 5 eggsfailed after warranty

Pros: both hdd's work great when i bought them.

Cons: after about 2 1/2 years the first hard drive failed, and about after 3 years the second hard drive failed. They where used for long term storage, not used as work horse drive's. they should have lasted a lot longer.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA twice

Pros: seemed to be a good deal

Cons: The new drive I received had drive error. I didn't use it until the warranty was almost over. I sent it in for a replacement. The replacement drive also was DOA and makes the PC way slower to boot up. Unfortunately I also didn't test it immediately. By the time I found out, it's past warranty period.

5 out of 5 eggsData, we got some information.

Pros: I've had this running for 3 years now. Sometimes it runs for weeks at a time without stop.
It does run daily, without exception.

It's been through about 4-5 complete whipes, partitioning, departitioning, It's had WIn 7 on it twice, Ubuntu once and Win8 once. Never had a problem with it.

Cons: It doesn't store 16TB of data.

4 out of 5 eggsGood disks for the price

Pros: Inexpensive disk that works just fine in my Synology NAS, I have it running for close to 3 years now (2 of them in my NAS, not in raid mode) and they perform just fine. Speed is not an issue even it they run at 5900 rpm as my home network is 1Gbits so the network substain rate is my bottleneck.

Cons: None to complain about.

Other Thoughts: Some peoples say that it might be an issue in Raid mode but I did not tested it in Raid, but as standalone drive they do their job just fine.
I had a desktop Barracuda type disk in my other NAS that failed after 22 months, so are 7200 rpm Barracuda drives faster? may be but not noticable in my NAS but not as reliable for sure in my case.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent drive

Pros: Like other people have said, because of all the horror stories I have to write a review on this. I've had this for 2 years now and it is running like a champ. Write speeds burst 200 constant of 130. I've recorded a fair bit of video gaming to this and then compressed and deleted the old files and it is still just fine.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsFollow up after 3 years heavy use

Pros: 3 years and still going strong, no errors, no problems

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I just wanted to follow up because it seems the only people that post have such horror stories. I hate buying hard drives because of them.

I'm retired and I practically live on my computer. My computer is on from the minute I wake up, until I go to bed, so it's running about 16 to 18 hours a day, 7 days a week. I bought two of these drives in March of 2011 and now in March of 2014 they are 3 years old, and still running perfectly. No bad sectors, and no errors....knock on wood.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't waste your money even if it is on sale

Pros: The only pro it had was its price on sale

Cons: Very unreliable. It lived only 16 months in my case with A VERY LIGHT USE. It was in my docking station, so it was used very rarely to dump some movies to this disk which served as movie archive. But since one week ago, it started dying - unreadable files, and today it showed as unformatted. All my movie archive was lost. Luckily it was not an important data for me. This disk is just a piece of garbage. Never ever I am going to by any Seagate!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsStill running great after two years

Pros: -High storage capacity
-Quiet
-No problems yet after two years

Cons: Not an SSD, but that's not the HDD's fault.

Other Thoughts: Purchased this for my PC two years ago and it is still running just great as my primary HDD.
