1 out of 5 eggsSeagate is doomed

Pros: Nothing that other drives dont do

Cons: I'm an IT technician, I work in a shop where I repair a few computers each week. I have always had fate in Seagate drives, but since the day of their first SATA 40/60/80Gb HDD, their reliability has drastically degraded in the last few years, in both 2.5" and 3.5" drives, each time I have a computer with a dead drive, it's like 70% a Seagate drive or less commonly a Toshiba.
their First models of SATA 2.5" which look exactly like this one "ST9500325AS" was really tough, and I still have several up and running for years now, but their recent drives, mostly between 2009-late 2013 are garbage, they start reporting bad sectors and making a click sound in a matter of days/weeks, that's if you are lucky enough to not get these errors from the first use

Other Thoughts: The drives that I have most luck with are Hitachi/HGST, WesaterDigital especially the WD Black models, WD Blue are fine as well, Samsung drives are great as well, even if it was lately acquired by Seagate and their new drives are the same, it seems that Seagate benefited from Samsung to rectify their bad designs.
All in all, if you want a reliable drive, go for HGST or Western Digital.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great for PS3 upgrade

Pros: Runs cool, reliable startup

Cons: None to date

Other Thoughts: I originally bought this drive in August, 2011, upgrade my 60GB PS3 drive. The swap was easy and the PS3 took it without a hassle. I have had days where I've played for hours on end...almost 14-20 hours non-stop, and this drive held up with barely a glitch. Note, I also installed the cooling pack on the PS3 to increase longevity. It wasn't until today that I finally upgraded my PS3 to a Samsung 840 series 500GB SSD. The Seagate 500GB is still in perfect condition, but I wanted to speed up loading time, plus I intended to quiet down the PS3. Not that the 5400RPM is loud, but since the Samsung was on sale for a great price, and I didn't have anywhere else to apply the upgrade, the PS3 won the coin toss. I'm still keeping the Seagate in an enclosure, as a backup for the PS3, in case the SSD fails at any point in time. Nevertheless, this is a sturfy drive.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It works when it works

Cons: Completely dead after a few months

Other Thoughts: It was the HDD inside my Transcend Storejet 25M2 by default. Owned 3 of them, and 1 died only after a few months.
