Pros: quiet hard drives. Better then other brands I have used. easy rma.

Cons: first one I had die. Most trouble I have had with Hard drives have been with western digital, even the rma one was bad

Other Thoughts: I had one of three die with in 2 months. Had to send back Seagate. I mailed it October 9th, 2009. I recieved tracking information from Seagate on October 14th, 2009 with the new drive. Not bad turnaround, since the 9th was a Friday.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Lappy Harddrive

Pros: Works like it should. I do not notice the noise, so I guess it is quiet. Installation was a breeze.

Cons: It is $2 cheaper now.

Other Thoughts: Never had much problem with Seagate drives

3 out of 5 eggs50/50

Pros: Bought 2 of the drives and got everything set up for RAID0. installed drivers and windows 7 and its rating system gave it a 5.9 for read/write speeds.

Cons: One of my two drives died 3 days later with only ~10 hours of use on it. just sent it in for an RMA.

2 out of 5 eggsSeagate = Garbage

Pros: Inexpensive, but I guess I got what I paid for.

Cons: Developed bad sectors after only 3 months of operation. Hard to RMA with Seagate, still waiting for replacement. 3rd Seagate drive to fail this year. Very unhappy.

Other Thoughts: Don't bother with Seagate drives = garbage.

5 out of 5 eggsSeagate Barracuda review

Pros: Love. This. Drive. SATA cables make for easy management, and give a more spacious feel to my case. Booted up and was recognized in BIOS right off the bat, no problems. Cloned all the data for the same build from my older Seagate ATA drive, and booted up without any issues. Windows recognized the drive and installed the drivers in a heartbeat. More than enough room for my work, and transfer rates are amazing. Withstood a 24-hour Mersenne torture test, followed by Everest Ultimate Edition benchmarking and torture test as well

Cons: It doesn't make chocolate pudding

Other Thoughts: -ASUS P5QL/EPU

-Intel Pentium Dual-Core Wolfdale E5200 2.5GHz @ 2.76 GHZ

-Samsung 22x DVD burner (SATA 3.0GB/s)

-PNY GeForce 9500 GT PCIe 2.0x16

-Rosewill Green series 630W continuous PSU SLI/Crossfire ready

-3GB Kingston DDR2 800 ValueRAM

-Antec 900 ATX Mid-Tower (All fans set to medium setting)

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet & Fast

Pros: Drive is quiet, fast. I have Seagate drives in all my computers.

Cons: If you have an older motherboard that supports older Sata 150, you will need a jumper for the drive as none came with it.

Other Thoughts: I swapped my IDE Hdd to this Sata Hdd by installing Sata drivers in my working XP, then cloned the Hdd. Removed the old drive, and booted the new. Works great.

Pros: Fast and quiet drive. No problems installing and no problems since. I was having trouble deciding between WD and Seagate, but looks like this drive was alright.

1 out of 5 eggsBoat Anchors

Pros: Looks nice and shiny. Might make a good target for handgun practice.

Cons: I have 2 of these - one 500 Gb and one 320. Installed them a year after I got them, so out of warranty.

The first one is a windshield wiper - the read/write arm goes back and forth, relentlessly. Responds to nothing. Doesn't register, even at DOS level.

The second one might have actually WORKED, but the incredibly fragile SATA connection point broke off with the slightest sideways force on the connector.

I've dealt with LOTS of HDD'S from many manufacturers. WD's are great and reliable. Samsung makes a good drive. Toshiba, Fujitsu, Hitachi - all have done their job.

Seagates belong back in the sea - at the end of an anchor chain.
