4 out of 5 eggsVery good drive

Pros: Have owned this drive for about 7 months now with no problems. Set-up was a breeze, as expected and the drive is as quiet as any other in my array of 8.

Cons: None that I have seen so far. The reduced size that others report as a con is not. This is normal with ANY drive. Actual space never equals rated space.

Other Thoughts: I will probably buy another one soon as this one is filling up. Although I consider this a quiet drive, my system makes a noticeable noise to begin with. My drives are in a self-built open drive enclosure, which keeps them cooler, but also increases the noise.

1 out of 5 eggsDrive Failed!!!

Pros: Capacity

Cons: Failed after 6 months. Not reliable and would not recommend.

Other Thoughts: I bought this after success with a wd 500, which I bought 3 years ago and still works fine.

While there were a lot of satisfied customers for the product, I think the failure rate is pretty high. If you do purchase this drive and put 750gb full of stuff on this one drive, make sure you back it up.

5 out of 5 eggsDrive gets better over time

Pros: I replaced a WD Raptor 74GB 10000RPM SATA 1.5GB with this one performace is about the same, but I needed more room.
At first this drive made a horrible spinning (vibration) sound but over time it seemed to break in and now on boot-up I can't hear it spin at all, I only hear the CD/DVD ROM on boot-up.
Loads quickly transfers fast and mantanence disc clean up, defrag, etc... is is a breeze.

Cons: This would be a far better drive if it was 7200RPM but since its "Green" I'm sure they are all 5400RPM. If I was to buy another I would spend the extra $$ and get the 64MB 7200RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s (1TB-2TB) Not really a con but a consideration. Windows7 Performace rating of 5.9 (lowest of all components) I would like to get closer to 7.0 I believe 8 is max.

Other Thoughts: 750GB is a lot of space but when your storing movies it goes quickly. I use this for a Gamming PC, but soon as I buy a 64MB 7200RPM for the Gamming PC, this current drive it will be used in a Media Center (HTPC).

5 out of 5 eggsbiggest HDD i ever used

Pros: its been several months since i bought this drive and its the best i have ever owned by far. fast and large data storage with windows 7 on it. with all the games and movies i have downloaded its still not even half full! i love it!

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: the very first hard drive i got was an old 20.8gb Quantum fireball IDE HDD. i got that thing going on 13 years ago and it still works. i have it hooked up in my rig right now. doesnt offer much seeing as its 5400RPM, 19GB formatted and its old but it works. came with my very old eMachines T-1801 desktop.

5 out of 5 eggsit just works

Pros: havnt had a problem yet with it (knock on wood) WD HDD's seem to be good, the higher the cache the better. i would have got the black edition of this, but not sure of the speed difference and i have a brown thumb anyway

Cons: cant dance
