Pros: look my best friend has Two 300 GB Veliciraptors in a Raid 0 and this is a good set up he is pulling a 6.2 on windows performance test. Get this he spent $400.00 for them to. I have three of these drives I caught on sale for 54.99 and have them in Raid Zero as well and I am pulling a 6.3 performance rating on Windows 7 Ultimate same OS as my friend and I only spent $144.00 these Drives are the best for the Money I had one Veliciraptor and returned it tripled my space and performance 19200 GB now instead of 300 Can't beat it Rideout Computer Engineer these Drives are nice trust me

Cons: I am very satisfied to date nothing negative to report about these Drives no failure nothing

Other Thoughts: These Drives out perform Raptors I have owned both and have seen PC MARK test on both granted Raptors spin at 10,000 RPM but the cashe is 16 MB these Drives are 7200 RPM and 32 MB of Cashe they cancel out These dives for $250.00 less with triple the space so worth it

5 out of 5 eggsDrive is silent if AAM is tweaked

Pros: Super silent if AAM is tweaked

Super fast load times as expected

Cons: Must google for AAM and download it and tweak to quiet mode to make drive quiet

Quiet mode will lower performance by 1 to 5% ish.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Drives

Pros: Fast
Quiet
Reliable
Inexpensive
5-yr warranty

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Three in raid 0 with no issues. Cheaper, as fast, more storage than a raptor. Great for all the pics and video I have (1.5 TB backup, of course).

To Ashley and where do the GBs go after a format: first off, this is not unique to the 6401AALS, it is a characteristic of every hard drive. There are many factors involved to include the fact that a byte is based on 1024 bites (not 1000), the number of cylinders, heads, sectors and bytes per sector, and the file system overhead. The general rule of thumb is that the Windows formatted capacity of a hard drive will be approx 93% of the manufacturer's stated capacity (91% for drives greater than 1TB). Again, this rule of thumb applies to any hard drive.

4 out of 5 eggsFor the Price

Pros: The price was right and it was an easy install process.

Cons: I have 2 Raptors as my main drives for dual booting and this drive does power on and off randomly and makes a wierd clicking sound when it does, but nothing I can't live with.

Other Thoughts: If you can't live with a wierd powering on and off sound go with 600 MB Raptor drives instead.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive for the money

Pros: Outgrew my old 250mb Seagate drive. This is a great drive for what I paid. Replaced a 8mb cache drive with this 32 mb cache and it really helps performance.

Cons: A little noisier than the Seagate but not objectionable.

Other Thoughts: First non Seagate spinning drive in a long time.

5 out of 5 eggsgood drive

Pros: Much faster then the 5400 rpm drive it replaced.

Cons: for some it may be a little loud under load but if you wanted a quiet drive you would buy one made to be quiet.

Other Thoughts: If you need a new drive then this is what you need.
