5 out of 5 eggsLongevity.

Pros: Drive was originally in a gateway that was bought in 2005/6ish.
Lasted at least 8 years.
^^^^^^
8 years old and SMART readings are in the green

Cons: Being old, it now makes some strange noises.
A Tad slow but, OLD.

Other Thoughts: If it was nearly 10 years ago I would say "Dont hesitate to buy it"
But as we all know, build quality can change over time regardless of the make and model. 69 Mustangs were sexy, 85 Mustangs were ugly as hell. But I still love Mustangs. I personally would buy another from this make, and hopefully they're still building them the way they were a decade ago

I salvaged hard drives to put in a build i had waited 4 years to finally do. This one was my fathers. It currently only has SimCity installed on it (Saving my SSD space) but if that doesn't screw up I'll install my other games on it. Don't need it breaking down in the middle of a game c:

5 out of 5 eggsGood reliable hard drive

Pros: I've had no problems with reading from or writing to this hard drive. Been using it as my primary ever since my original ran out of space. Runs pretty cool too, plus one of my front case fans blows air right over it. Has pretty decent speeds on reads and writes, was actually faster than the one it replaced.

Cons: It's not an SSD or a 10k RPM spinner. That's about it though, and I knew that going into the purchase.

2 out of 5 eggsSacred me silly

Pros: It's been ok as a secondary disk

Cons: When it was primary disk I had all sorts of issues and could never be sure if my PC would boot. Replaced it and used it as a scratch area and has worked for years. Noisier than my Barracudas.

Other Thoughts: Who would buy one now! So out of date and superseded many times no doubt

5 out of 5 eggsworks great

Pros: great hard drive

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: 7200 rpm means faster drive, faster data access. Could also mean drive fails sooner but that is always the chance you take.

5 out of 5 eggsdid the 'trick'

Pros: did the trick

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: A HD of the same model died in my mother's Mac... They refused to replace it unless she gave them the old broken one, which they said they would not under any circumstances recover any data on it. Additionally, they informed us that if we had someone else try to recover data on the hard drive, the warranty would be voided... so I ordered this one, put the apple sticker on it, and turned it in for replacement. I later had someone retrieve all of the important data from the old drive. all is well.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Drive

Pros: Long term reliability
Great general-purpose drive
Quiet

Cons: 320GB may not be enough storage for higher-end users
SATA 3Gb/s may not be enough for high-throuhput needs

Other Thoughts: This model has stood the test of time and then some. This exact model came stock in my 2007 iMac and served me flawlessly for 5 years of heavy use. Not even a hint of a problem. Only reason I replaced it: cheap SSDs.
