5 out of 5 eggsGreat Ram

Pros: -8 Gigs
-1600 MHz
-Nice blue heat spreaders.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Perfect ram for anyone looking for 8 or 16gig build, I went with 8 gigs to save money for now. DDR3 1600 which is pretty standard right now, the most common ram on the market currently. Worked perfectly with my GIGABYTE GA-78LMT even though the box said 1600 was overclock it picked it up in the bios at 1600 on auto settings anyway.

Can't say anything bad about it, great ram, great brand which I've trusted for over 10 years, never had a single problem with any G.Skill products in the past, I highly recommend this if your looking for cheaper ram and don't care about getting the fastest speeds, should be fine with dedicated video card's for gaming, wouldn't recommend for apu's though as you need much faster ram to make those work. (2133+)

Only other thing I could say is the heat spreaders might get in the way of some aftermarket cpu coolers such as the cooler master hyper 212, luckily my motherboard uses the 2 odd slots to the right for 2 sticks in dual channel mode so it wasn't a problem. It might get in the way on some motherboards though if you are using all 4 slots or any of the left 2 slots.

3 out of 5 eggsSomething changed

Pros: I bought my first pair of 4gbx2 years ago. it has been super stable with no problems whatsoever.

Cons: i read other reviews where people still buy this ram. I decided to double up on my ram, so i bought another 4x2. this should be the exact same specs. the first pair i got, i kept getting bsod and my games would freeze and crash. i tested it by taking out my old ram and putting in the new one.

Other Thoughts: i RMA'd for a second pair. while I was waiting for the RMA, my system was stable, and no game crashes. after receiving the new pair, i stick them in and lo and behold.... my games freeze and crash. although these should be the exact same, something changed with how these are made from 4 years ago and now. i'm about to just ask for a refund. the only other way is to go with all new ram which shouldn't be necessary in the first place. i really wanted the same ram to work together, too...

Dear Customer

We will be glad to help with this issue. RAM purchased four years ago will be much different than what is offered now. The DDR3 standard has changed, so a lot will be different. These changes are most likely the reason the latest RAM is not compatible with your system. Make sure you have the latest BIOS as updates are released to improve compatibility. If you continue to have a problem, contact the G.Skill support team with hardware specifications and we will be glad to help determine the culprit.

3 out of 5 eggsRandom BSODs

Pros: Looks good

Cons: Random BSODs

Other Thoughts: I just built a new system and went with this RAM. Within the first week, I experienced my first BSOD on the new system. Then it seemed like I would get a BSOD every 2-3 days. Each BSOD mainly occurred when closing out of games/programs.
I took 1 stick out and did not experience a BSOD for 2 weeks. I then put the stick back in and experienced a BSOD that same day, so I took it back out and it will remain out.
I do not know if there is some type of compatibility issue or not so any feedback from GSKILL would be helpful.
My CPU = Intel Core i5-4690K Devil's Canyon Quad-Core 3.5GHz LGA 1150 Desktop Processor BX80646I54690K
My MOBO = GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-UD5H LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Settings are stock, have not been tweaked. If there is no resolution, I will return these and try something else.

Dear Customer

Glad to hear you like the sleek heat spreader design of the RipJaws X series. This RAM is perfect for your system, just make sure to enable the XMP Profile in BIOS/EFI for the settings to be automatically detected. The memory specifications are above standard, so without proper configuration, the RAM may not operate correctly. If you continue to have a problem, test one module at a time to see if one performs differently. Should you need further assistance, please feel free to contact us directly and we will make sure your computer is running fast and stable.

5 out of 5 eggsMy Second Pair

Pros: It works and works well.
Sweet timings for clock frequency.
Pretty blue heatsinks.
Bought it at a very reasonable price.

Cons: I had to loosen up to a 2T command rate to have all four sticks running (that's the thing with AMD CPU's). Nothing else.

Other Thoughts: Going from 8 GB to 16 GB, I do notice that my idle memory usage jumped from 1.4 GB to about 1.8 GB. Windows is loading more of itself into memory, which is a tangible benefit. Running on an AMD FX-8350 and a Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 (revision 1.0) motherboard. Stocking up on DDR3 while it's still reasonably inexpensive--before they shift the bulk of their production to DDR4.

4 out of 5 eggsThey do the job.

Pros: -Flashy (Red)
-They Work
-They have some play in the timings and overclocking

Cons: -I took an Egg for price, I feel that in the current age, decent DDR3 should be around $50-60 for 8GB. No more than $110 for 16 with DDR4 about to be on the rise. Not really the fault of the company just with memory in general.

Other Thoughts: It's kind of hard to rate memory, specifically, I mean.. If it's doing its job then it's good memory.. You know? Buying memory is pretty much a job for the user to do some research on the voltage, the speed they need, and a little into the company and what chips/components they use. The occasional stick does come dead, but Newegg will usually make it right or the company that sells them will.

5 out of 5 eggsPut it through the ringer...

Pros: I've had this memory running in an overclocked i7 2600k build for 4 years now. It still hums along like a charm. I'm doing the midlife pc upgrade and will be dropping in an i7-3770k and 2x GTX 970s...I'm adding another 8gig of this same RAM.

Sturdy stuff.

Cons: None come to mind, it simply works and works well.

Other Thoughts: The blue is snazzy.

5 out of 5 eggsRock Solid

Pros: Reliable RAM without any issues. I purchased one set in the summer of 2013 and recently purchased another set to upgrade to 16GB. Both the original and the new sets work flawlessly.

Cons: Absolutely none.

Other Thoughts: RAM was recognized immediately by the system both times. Just make sure you enable XMP profiles in your BIOS for maximum performance.
