2 out of 5 eggsdefective unit

Pros: Price, good speed, nice color

Cons: I purchased 2x4G units of this RAM. Was working until I started to have more and more random blue screen of death last week. After painful hours of investigation. I finally found the problem: one of the RAM module was defective! Was not even able to reinstall windows, saying can't access memory. Removed it. Now my PC is ok with only the remaing 4G unit.

Other Thoughts: When I purchased this RAM, I took 2 modules in case one was defective. Fortunately otherwise my PC would be unusable. It is the first time RAM goes wrong when I build a PC. I was planning to feed my mobo with 32 G... maybe it is just bad luck.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent value at sale price

Pros: "and is compatible with Intel LGA1155/LGA1156 and AMD AM3/Llano/AM3+ platforms"

Perhaps it is a given, but these modules are compatible with the newer FM2+ platform

Cons: Little pricey at sticker price

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear this memory kit is working well with your AMD FM2+ platform. This is one of the most popular memory kits on NewEgg because it is compatible with most DDR3 motherboards and CPUs that can support DDR3-1600. For the price, performance, service, and support, there isn't anything better. Your computer should be fast and smooth with 8GB. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsMy Go To Memory

Pros: - My 4th G.SKILL Ripjaws X purchase. Have never had a problem with any of them.
- Heat sink look and color look nice and match my other components

Cons: None for the memory itself, but there was a sale within a few days purchase. Seems like that happens every time. : /

5 out of 5 eggsbought in 2011 - still works in 2014

Pros: Just wanted to share that I bought one of these in 2010, and it still works with no problems today! (Oct 2014)

Cons: None - good stuff!

Other Thoughts: Man... memory sure was cheaper back then!

3 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: It looks cool?

Cons: Only 1600MHz speed, you can now get at least the 2400MHz version of the Ripjaws model for the exact same price. Or the 2133 if you like the 9-24 timings.

Nothing particularly special, RAM these days is overpriced throughout the industry.

Other Thoughts: Since DDR3's introduction in ~2010, the slower speed has been 1333 and 1600, but I suppose that it may not make too much of a difference unless you're using a Haswell-based Intel CPU.

Also, if you order the wrong model/color/speed be prepared to pay Newegg $10 for a shipping label + a $15 restocking fee for a cool -$25.

Dear Customer

Glad to hear the memory is working well in your system. NewEgg commonly puts on some really good specials for RAM, so they are surely worth a look. If you compare G.Skill RAM with other brands, it is always much lower. You never overpay with G.Skill; you get the best quality, best price, best service, best support. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as it should.

Pros: Works great, windows experience gave the ram a 7.9. Which is awesome in my book. The heat spreader is cool looking. Make sure to activate XMP in BIOS to take full advantage of this memory. Checked my ram in windows and I apparently have 8.2GB :P

Cons: Only con is that it doesn't install itself.

3 out of 5 eggs50% success in 9 months

Pros: Price

Cons: 50% of these memory modules I bought have errors in less than 9 months.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you are having such issues. This memory kit is above standard, so please make sure to configure settings in BIOS/EFI. Without the proper settings, it is possible for the RAM to error and corrupt over time. If you need assistance with configuration, please contact the G.Skill support team directly. As you can see by the reviews, this is a high performance memory kit that can work extremely well for many years. We will see through that this is the case with your computer.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat so far

Pros: sharp looking DDR3. I have yet to need to OC these chips.

Cons: heat spreaders might be a problem if you have an aftermarket cooler for your CPU. I have an artic 300w cooler so no problem here.

Other Thoughts: if you have a gigabyte motherboard, then this is probably the best looking RAM chips out there. solid performance too
