5 out of 5 eggsGood sticks of RAM

Pros: G.Skill is a highly reliable brand of RAM and has never steered me wrong. At the time, this was one of the cheapest 4GB (2x2GB) kit on Newegg.

Cons: Red doesn't match all rigs. Wish they offered more colors at this price point.

Other Thoughts: I'd always recommend G.skill. Their sticks are quality.

2 out of 5 eggsRam gone bad

Pros: this ram worked good for 6 months or so. Had no complaints.

Cons: After that it went down hill. I got 16gb 4x4, it would not load windows 7. I had my son look at it , he said two were bad. he took 2 out it worked for 3 weeks. I should have 8gb, but when I play minecraft hexxit it kicks a warning not enough memory to run windows 7. Tells me to close everything. My son said the ram is faulty, he said 8gb would be plenty to run windows and hexxit. will g skill replace them if so how do I go about sending them back.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We will be glad to help you with this. Good to hear the memory was working well for 6 months. You mentioned 16GB, but this is a 4GB kit. If you purchased two kits, it is 8GB. If a couple modules are not working properly, send them in for RMA exchange and we can send you new ones right away. Once you receive the replacements, make sure to configure settings in BIOS, then the system should be fast and reliable. Visit the G.Skill website for complete RMA procedure. For any further questions or concerns, feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Memory

Pros: Excellent memory, no issues whatsoever.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have never had an issue with any G.Skill memory that I have ever purchased. It is top notch, and always runs at the specified speeds. I do not O/C, so cannot verify its dependability beyond stock speeds, but can vouch for its reliability at the default speed.

2 out of 5 eggs2 of 3 sets were defective

Pros: the first pair i bought work very well and haven't had issues with. bought a second pair a couple months later

Cons: the second pair wouldn't pass POST with either module in any slot. the original would flawlessly in every slot with either module so its not the mobo.

i warrantied them out and just got the replacements today. they to wont pass POST in either module in any slot.

Other Thoughts: if i use the working pair in channel A and the defective in channel B, it will boot up but shows 8gb installed, 4gb usable in Windows.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We will be glad to help you with this issue. First, check that you have the latest BIOS/EFI for the motherboard. Sounds like the two newer kits are not compatible with your system. The DDR3 standard has changed quite a bit, and this can pose problems for older motherboards. Contact the G.Skill support team directly to see if we have RAM available that is compatible with your motherboard/computer. We will be glad to swap it for a kit that works. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

1 out of 5 eggsPoof, Oh My

Pros: I will need to update the motherboard now.

Cons: I used this memory to replace some G-Skill memory that I moved to a different computer. Plugged the memory into the motherboard and hit the power switch and I got the dreaded smell of burnt electronics. There must have been a short in the memory because the power trace going to the memory slot was burned.

Other Thoughts: I have used G-SKill memory in all my computers and have never had and issue till now. The memory damaged a $150 motherboard and I hope the processor is OK. Will need to see if G-Skill will help me out replacing the MB once I RMA these sticks. Doubt it, but you never know.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you had a problem. When installing memory modules, always make sure the modules are firmly inserted. If done correctly, two clicks can be heard when the latches lock into place. It is always best to try multiple times or switch slots if you think the modules are not properly inserted. RAM itself can not cause a sudden spark like this, if it is installed correctly, it will either work or not boot up at all. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.
