- Pros: It works and has been working for almost a year now. I bought two of these combos for 8gb total for a server which then became my desktop.
- Cons: These are simply rebranded PC2 6400 running at 2v instead of 1.8v. I think that's kind of shady on GSkill's part to advertise these as true PC2 8500 sticks.
Still, at 2v running at 443Mhz, it's sitting on timings of 5-5-5-15, so I guess I shouldn't complain too much considering it was cheap.
- Other Thoughts: Asus P5Q motherboard.

Manufacturer Response:. Dear Customer Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear your G.Skill memory package is working great for your computer. All memory modules/chips operate within a certain rated specification. As long as they pass with flying colors, they are branded as that spec. If you notice many other companies, DDR2-1066 operate at memory voltages over 2.20V and up to 2.40V, but this does not mean they are simply using DDR2-667/800 chips and listing a high voltage. You can verify this as not all DDR2-800 chips can overclock past DDR2-1066 simply with a high voltage or higher timing. If you have any further questios, please feel free to let us know. Amendment to Prior Review
- Pros: worked for a year and was only $40 when I bought it. G.Skill customer support is very patient, even with customers who occassionally run on short tempers. : )
- Cons: only 2 dimms went bad, not all 4 as I had previously thought. i had to reconfigure my BIOS settings for dram voltage, timing, and latency. when the BIOS settings were on auto, my 2 functioning sticks would fail memtest86+, but not anymore.
- Other Thoughts: i still am dissappointed that 2 of my sticks died (won't even POST if the 2 failed ones are in, get a memory error beep code), but i will give G.Skill another chance the next time I need to buy memory. this was the first and only time i've bought G.Skill memory, but I feel they deserve another shot. the Falcon II ssd looks good, i just wish it came in 32gb...

Manufacturer Response:. Dear Customer We apologize for the inconvenience. With 8GB (4 sticks), raising the NB Voltage to 1.40V may be necessary as many memory controllers can be overloaded. Consequently, if improper settings are used, it can cause the memory to go bad. Once you receive the new replacements, simply make sure to configure memory settings in BIOS. Then raise NB Voltage to 1.40V and that should stabilize the memory controller. Once that is complete, your system should be running smoothly. If you have any further questions or issues, please feel free to let us know and we will be glad to assist you. Thank you GSKILL SUPPORT Quality and customer service are our top priorities. Unhappy
- Pros: Cheap
- Cons: Their memory has nothing but problems. I've gone through NewEgg for most RMAs but in some cases i've given the ram within a gift, or threw out the boxes. More recently I attempted to contact G.Skill for an RMA.. they never responded to my RMA request, but seem to have no problems rebutling unhappy consumers with their standard "we're sorry contact us"
Do not buy from G.Skill, their memory WILL fail. Pick another company, look at the negative reviews.
And G.Skill - please don't comment to our reviews, they are OUR reviews. Instead, respond to our RMA requests, which you are ignoring.

If you do not receive a response within 72 hours, simply email technical support as well and they will be able to forward your request.
