4 out of 5 eggsG.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)

Pros: Good upgrade at this point, if you don't want to completely overhaul your aging system. This is a reliable memory, backed by lifetime guarantee from manufacturer.

Cons: Elevated voltage (2.1V) may cause incompatibility with some other brands and requires manual entries in BIOS (Asus P5B Deluxe in this case).

1 out of 5 eggsG.Skill quality going down?

Pros: Great price, nice that it has a lifetime guarantee.

Cons: I'm sorry to give it a low score, but after some of my sticks went bad after about a year, I RMA'ed my bad ones in for a replacement. And again. And again. I've received 3 replacements now in a short period, and every one of them are bad. Is G.Skill quality going downhill, or are they purposefully sending 'questionable' ones to those of us receiving free RMA's? Whatever the case, I've lost my confidence in G.Skill and won't be buying from them in the future.

Other Thoughts: For those wondering, I tested the sticks using different memory testing software to be certain, namely MemTest86/MemTest86+. If there's anything remotely wrong with the RAM modules, this software will find it.

Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you had such issues. This memory kit is above standard, so make sure to configure settings in BIOS/EFI. Without the proper settings, the system may be unstable and the memory may seem defective. It is highly unlikely multiple kits from G.Skill were defective. Please contact the G.Skill support team directly and they will be glad to assist you. They will make sure G.Skill RAM is working fast and stable in your computer.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Ram

Pros: I bought a set of these from Newegg in 2008 and another set in 2009. Zero issues, perfect reliability, etc. Next time I buy ram, G.Skill will get the first look.

Cons: As has been mentioned in other reviews, some systems like to start these 800 MHz and different timings. I just loaded up CPUZ and copied over the recommended 5-5-5--15 timings from that.

3 out of 5 eggsgood brand but my sticks went bad

Pros: good brand, cost was decent

Cons: one stick went bad. Random blue screens of death constantly, graphical ui glitches and such. i ran memtest and it failed miserably lots of red errors

Other Thoughts: i can still recommend gskill because they make good memory and it does come with a lifetime warranty and i just mailed mine back in yesterday so i'll update when i get the new sticks. but customer support was good.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear a module has gone bad. Please send it in for RMA exchange and we can replace it right away. Once you receive a new kit, make sure to configure settings in BIOS and the system should be fast and reliable. The memory kit is above standard, so it is not plug and play. Without the proper settings, the memory may corrupt over time. This is one of the most popular DDR2 RAM kits so you should be very pleased with the performance. For all further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us directly.

4 out of 5 eggsGskill

Pros: Everything for the price it worked in the Dell machine like a click of your fingers.

Cons: None, again worked like a charm.

Other Thoughts: Had to sue this to fix a aging Dell computer with 2 SSD's in raid and the 4 GB of memory. Windows server 2012 for a print server for the network and yeah!!!!! It's a print server and my admin machine when I am remote. Works like a charm.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory is workng well in your server machine. With 4GB installed, it will provide a nice boost to the operating system and improve processing power. The computer should be fast and stable throughout memory intensive tasks such as multi-tasking, remote access, printing, all at the same time. This is one of our most popular memory kits ever as it provides high performance and reliability. We hope it is the same for you as well. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsWorking Smooth with Other RAM

Pros: Working great at speeds advertised with changing voltage.

Works with other branded RAM.

Cons: Didn't pick up another set, but that will be rectified in the future.

Other Thoughts: I mixed this with some other branded RAM that is 6 years old and plays together nicely.

P35 chipset, Gigabyte MOBO, 1GBx2, and 2GBx4. BIOS detected and set everything. Running at advertised speeds.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Works great as it should and the price was not bad either! Had no trouble installing it and it booted at the right speed.

Cons: I cant say there is any except the price and availability to find this type of memory as everything's going to DDR3 which makes me think that this type of memory should be going done in price not up. But they have you when that's what you need and its hard to find since there not making it anymore.

Other Thoughts: Some people right that there memory does not work properly as it wont boot to the right speed or for overclocking they cant get it to go to the speed they want? When you buy memory you need to make sure that your mother board can use that speed whiether it boots to the right speed or you have to change some settings in the Bio's to get it to work right. I see complaints all the time for just that in reviews, so do some research on your mother board settings before complaining or even buying memory people!
