5 out of 5 eggsworks great!

Pros: Bought this memory to add to the two gigs of this same Gskill memory that I installed in my system when I built it a couple of years ago for a total of four gigs system memory so I could install Windows 7 64bit. Installed without any problems.

Cons: nada

Other Thoughts: I used to buy only Corsair or Crucial memory but thought I'd give Gskill a shot when I built my pc a couple of years ago and I'm glad I did! Works great and costs less. I build a lot of systems for family and friends and now only buy Gskill for that simple reason.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat 1066 Mem for the Buck

Pros: Have built three machines with G.Skill
1) Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P w\ 2x2Gb sticks and 2x1Gb sticks. Running a multi-boot sys w\ XP pro, Win7-32, &
Win7-64 ... all OS's running flawlessly
2) Asus M4A785-M miniATX w\ 2x1Gb sticks ... Mem tested
in above machine, Flawless ... Asus mobo DOA (Newegg RMA in progress) Newegg is by far the best e-tailer out there!
3) Gigabyte GA-MA785G HDMI Micro... the replacement for build # 2, will update by this weekend, but have no doubt
the combo of G.Skill and Gigabyte will be awesome. Have had really good builds with them. MSI, ASUS, ASRock, and FOXCONN all have very good boards ... but not always the best quality control. Read the Newegg reviews, if the 4 egg and 5 egg reviews total 80 to 85% or better BUY IT, as a general rule.

Cons: 1)Can't teach these sticks how to make coffee

2)Prices are not the best right now, they've gone up over 40 % in some brands over last year.

Other Thoughts: Have built quite afew machines over the years and until about 2 years ago used Corsair memory exclusively. Enter 'con#2',
they are still one of the best out there just getting abit pricey. For price and reliability I've been using G.Skill, IMHO if you're not OC'ing them to interplanetary speeds they're great for the average build w/ alittle OC headroom.

4 out of 5 eggsLong Life

Pros: Cool heatshield
Lasts 4-5 years

Cons: Lasts 4-5 years

Other Thoughts: I've owned this for over 4 years. However, my computer is starting to really screw up (hardware related). It will freeze 95% of the time when attempting to boot, and it will even freeze during BIOS. I get answers that my memory may be the problem, but I haven't verified yet.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory has been working well for many years. Now that it may have gone defective, luckily you purchased G.Skill and you can attain a new replacement! Simply overlook the RMA procedures on our website, send the memory in, and we will be able to send you new modules that should solve the problem. What you can do is test each stick individually to see which may be causing the errors.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsBuying another pair

Pros: Work fine in my Gigabyte P45 board. Ordering another pair right after I'm done with this review.

Cons: 10 bucks more than I wanted to pay, but with the volatility of memory prices, I had to jump in somewhere.

Other Thoughts: I clicked optimized settings in my bios and it recognized them as 1066 and set them at 5-5-5-15 at 1.8. The only adjustment I had to make was to take them up to 2.0v.

I replaced some Crucial stick's that were getting a little whacky

5 out of 5 eggsGreat memory, great brand!

Pros: This memory is great! From now on, I will only be buying G.SKILL memory. Overclocks easily, runs cool, and looks cool. This is probably the best DDR2 memory for the price, at 1066mhz.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Now I wish I had bought 4GB instead of 2

5 out of 5 eggsVERY GOOD RAM

Pros: Works good with gigabyte ma78lm-s2h motherboard and quad 630. Runs @1066mhz. just up volts to 2.1v and change ram multiplier. stable all day long.

Cons: It could be less expensive. 63 for 2 gigs in April 2010

Other Thoughts: IF over clocking is what you want these will do the trick. must run @800mhz then you can get 25% more speed out of your processor. got my x4 630 up to 3.5ghz from 2.8ghz. Pime95 stable. tweak the volts and drop HT and NB a notch down.they are still over the 2000mhz. most 800mhz ram wont hit 1000mhz stable. did not try to go higher. I'm sure they will if i try. when in 1066 mode can only get about a 5% over clock.Keep in mind the motherboard is a 60 dollar board and is awesome. motherboard does support 1200mhzOC. This is my third purchase of this brand, first 2 were the red pc6400. This is the best pc8500 ddr2 ram i have had the pleasure to play with yet. works super on am3 processors and am3 ready motherboards.memory controller is in the processor. G.skill has won me over. Can't wait to try their ddr3 on my next build. if you are a gamer this is what you want. got 15290 3dmarks on 06 with a 9800gt 512 low power card. that's good score for the low $ spent on build. Try it.

5 out of 5 eggsGetting hot

Pros: works great , @ 1066. it need 800w power supply to run @ 1066. it is stable with ECS 8200A motherboard

Cons: get so hot @ 1066 you need extra cooling fan to blow out this heat. otherwise run @ 800 with minimum heat. very stable @ 800 Win 7 32 bit.
Win vista has some issues @ 1066. Win XP always works fine at any configuration

4 out of 5 eggsBe prepared to config, config, and more config

Pros: Really fast memory - Great for the price, Stable at multiple frequencies...

Cons: You better be ready to configure... 1066 ddr2 doesnt work out the box like that, it needs some serious research, and some time to get it set just right. Should come with a warning

Other Thoughts: I am happy with the purchase. So happy, I bought another set to double my pleasure. Still waiting on that to arrive... And this time I didnt pay for the UPS shipping (got the egg saver), and it seems that was a mistake. I guess Im just anxious. Ill review the next pair when it gets here...

I still have alot to learn though - Keep in mind you will find many mixed reviews about what you are getting. Some say up the voltage and multiplier, others say keep it at 1.8 and run at 800 for faster speed. I say do what feels best and stick with it. Im currently running at 1066 and my voltage is @ 2.1, but I may change it around when I get 4 gigs total - see what runs fastest. But for now, its great!

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. This memory package is above the JEDEC standard (DDR2-800), so manual settings will be required to operate properly. The rated specifications are DDR2-1066, 5-5-5-15, 2.10V, but for some systems with a weak memory controller, it may be more beneficial to operate DDR2-800, 4-4-4-12, 2.0V. This causes less stress to the memory controller, and along with lower timings, these settings may be better than the rated. If you have any further questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly and we will gladly assist you.
