1 out of 5 eggsTerrible on Asus P6T motherboard

Pros: It has rebates.

Cons: I used to believe that OCZ memory was a good brand, but after this experience I will never purchase this again. I used an Asus P6T motherboard with the Intel 920 believing it was going to be a fast system. I had blue screens, application crashes, system restarts, and frozen screens which im sure as you can tell it was ANNOYING! I swapped the memory believing that i purchased a bad set, but nope same problem. Changing to Corsair 6GB instead of OCZ which was like $40 more makes this a more enjoyable system that i can actually use. For some reason ASUS & OCZ are not compatible dont know why.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,we are sorry that you had difficulties. This memory should have worked on your board. We would have been very happy to assist you with settings and a replacement kit that would work for you.
Thank you

4 out of 5 eggsMemory for HTPC's

Pros: Fast when data - application, music - is in memory. Access is almost instant. Must admit it is fast.

Cons: Slow getting the data into memory. Must admit this is slow. Is this memory having slow timings? I do not understand why it is slow to load into memory. Hard disk is 1TB WD Black.

Other Thoughts: When you need memory there is enough for you. When loaded into memory it works well. Do I need a Raptor? Just say yes so I can show her.

2 out of 5 eggsRuined my week

Pros: It's cheap

Cons: It doesn't work.

Other Thoughts: I put this stuff in an ASRock X58 Extreme LGA 1366 and it would boot up once, let me set the time try some ram settings and then never boot up again (until I took the clock battery out).

I replaced them both with an ASUS P6T and some Corsair TR3X6G1600C8 G.

I suppose you could say that it was the motherboards fault or the rams fault, but I say it's marketings fault. If you say your motherboard runs ddr3 1600 and you say your ram is ddr 1600, then at the very least, you should be able to plug the 2 together and have it come on at some speed.

I've had trouble with ocz stuff booting before and once I put in some magic number, it runs stable for years, but I want something that runs stable at stock settings too.

Even if I ever got the combo to work, if my bios ever went back to default, I'd have to open my computer up and take the clock battery out to get it to boot once to the bios, so I could change the 20 settings in there to make it run again. That's geeky cool!

5 out of 5 eggsOCZ Obsidian + Asus ( P6T SE) motherboard tip

Pros: price?

Cons: Had to fiddle with back to back CAS delay to get it working at rated speeds.

Other Thoughts: Google "back to back CAS delay". Higher = worse performance. Asus P6T SE + Obsidian was crashing in Prime95 in ~15 mins. Saw another review here with "back to back cas" set to 8 so I read about it.

Seems this setting is too low in Asus by default for this memory so I set it to 8 and Prime95 has ran for about 50 mins stable so far. I will put it to 6 if this is stable.

Lower "back to back CAS delay" = better performance.

Google for more details but hopefully this will help an Asus owner.

1 out of 5 eggsNot stable at 1600

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Had to change bios setting from 1066 to 1600 and 7-7-7-20 to 9-9-9-24. Runs at 1600 but not stable. Computer shuts off occasionally due to RAM failure.

Then I bought A-Data 1600. Never had a problem this time.

4 out of 5 eggshad to rma first set but good customer service from ocz

Pros: -Cheap when i bought it ~$90
-good customer service
-good help from the forums from ocz techies
-relatively fast RMA service (fyi the replacements ship from taiwan)
-the replacements were shipped as soon as ocz received my faulty memory

Cons: -first set had one faulty stick in it when running memtest86+

Other Thoughts: The memory market is really inflated right now, so try to get a good deal on these

Also for I had to adjust the "back to back cas delay" (option only applicable in Asus mobos) in BIOS to 8 clocks in order for these babies to run without fault in OCCT's stress test using the "large data set option" (stresses memory more)
although it could run on stock settings, (but this would fail occt's test)

4 out of 5 eggsmore then i expected

Pros: much heavier then a regular stick. the heatsinks actually do more then i thiought they would. all 3 sticks worked out of the package and are very fast! i went from 4GB of DDR2 @ 533MHz to these....WOW. eats up windows 7 and great addition to an i7 build

Cons: price tag...but of course just like all new technology when it comes out. it didnt stop me from getting another set though.

Other Thoughts: i liked them enof to order a secound set. but im going with the gold series instead.

2 out of 5 eggs1600?

Pros: Works at lower then advertised speeds?

Cons: Could not get it to run at 1600mhz with out multiple prime95 and memtest errors. Made sure to set the correct timings of 9-9-9 @1.65v and even upped it to a cas of 10 and still receive problems!

Other Thoughts: If your looking for ddr3 ram look at Patriot or corsair for now.
