2 out of 5 eggsOne stick dead, need to pay to ship back to Patriot RMA

Pros: Nice low profile heat spreader.

Cons: I got a good deal on these from newegg. When I got to installing them awhile later, one stick is completely dead. Need to postpone build and wait for an RMA, which I have to pay to ship the memory back to Patriot. Not pleased at all with this.

Other Thoughts: I hope their RMA process has a decent turnaround.

2 out of 5 eggsupdate

Pros: fast and cheap

Cons: 75% of these kits died and had to be replaced within a month of purchase.

Other Thoughts: this is an updated review...patriot honored their warranty, but 75% failure is very, very frustrating. i bought some of these kits and they seemed great, but died after i ordered more. patriot replaced every bad set, and there were a lot of bad sets, with some obviously refurbished sets. the replacements haven't had any problems, but seriously, 75% failure rate?! refurbished replacements?! this was ridiculous. this was my first experience with patriot and though i also bought some flash drives from them since that seem to work well enough, i think i'll not be buying from them again.

4 out of 5 eggsSome problems, overall Great

Pros: Cheap
Great RAM
Latency 9, for cheap

Cons: was being recognized as 1066 RAM, had to manually OC it, so deducting an egg for that. Otherwise, no issues.

1 out of 5 eggsWhat happened to Patriot's quality?

Pros: None

Cons: Purchased two sets of this RAM, and one set was bad. This would not be too suspicious, but I also bought a separate set, different RAM type, also Patriot, and half of that set was bad. Given the sample population, that is a 50% failure rate. I RMA'd both sets (had to pay for shipping again, which is bull) and am still waiting on the return. So in all, my attempt at buying memory from a manufacturer I used to have faith in has been going on for nearly one month and has cost me more than it should have. I guess next time I'll buy local from a different manufacture, as Patriot has clearly slipped in quality. At least this way, I can get what I paid for without all the nonsense.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I'm sorry to heat that you experienced some delays with your RMA. Please don't hesitate to send me us e-mail and we'll be glad to look into your status.

Thank you for choosing Patriot Memory!

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't run at 1600

Pros: RAM works, just not at advertised speeds and default timings.

Cons: When run at 1600 speed and default timings, the system (ASUS F1A55-M LE FM1 Motherboard with A8-3870K APU) would show graphical glitches and freeze or reset. I tried upping the voltage, but no luck. I then changed the RAM's speed to 1333 in the bios and lowered the voltage to stock and the system is very stable.

Other Thoughts: I'm currently returning the RAM for a refund and buying a different brand's slightly more expensive but better rated and hopefully more stable product.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Justin,

I'm sorry to hear that you had some issues with getting your memory to run at the rated speeds. If you need any further assistance, please don't hesitate to send me an e-mail.

Thank you for choosing Patriot Memory!

Best Regards,
Benjamin

5 out of 5 eggsBought two sets

Pros: Definitely quick stuff, and nice level profile if you plan to upgrade your CPU's heatsink to a larger one. You can overclock them quite a bit, too.

Cons: Seems to default to 2T instead of 1T. Had to set it to 1 in the BIOS.

Other Thoughts: It's funny that 16 GB of RAM can still be filled up pretty quickly sometimes.

1 out of 5 eggswatch out

Pros: It works at 1333 Mhz.

Cons: For some reason I can't get it to run at 1600 Mhz on my MSI P67A-GD55. I tried manual settings and still no dice it would just reboot. I even tried setting latency to 11 based on Patriot's site spec and upping voltage to 1.65. I have other memory in right now running at 1600 Mhz no problem.

Other Thoughts: Pay attention to what you're getting. I thought I was getting CAS 9 DDR3 1600. Even Newegg listed the spec at CAS 9 when I bought it but the manufacturers site lists this model at CAS 11. I'm pretty sure what I have is 1333 Mhz memory because there is no Jedec for 1600 Mhz and it refuses to run at 1600 no matter what. Very disappointing.

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggsThey seem to die a lot.

Pros: There Cheap, and came with free sd cards when I bought them. And in my opinion everything should come with a free sd card or a key-chain.

Cons: Bought 3 of these they seem to die after a few months.
2 of the 6 were bad from the start, 2 more died over time.

I would recommend for the long run just buying better memory in the first place there failure ratio is to high to risk the lose of time and crying.

Lesson well learnt not all memory is the same, some are suicidal.

Other Thoughts: Im still thankful that im only having problems with my memory although the problems they make are a headache its still easier to fix than other components. Just remove a few sticks and run memtest and your good to go.

From were I live its still not worth the shipping to return them. I will keep that in mind next time when ordering stuff. Its more cost effective just to order higher quality stuff.
