5 out of 5 eggsWorks great 1 year later

Pros: Has consistently worked great in a mid-level gaming PC I made for my wife 1 year ago. Playing games like Dragon Age and WoW without any problems.

Cons: None.

2 out of 5 eggsBurned up

Pros: Fast when it works.

Cons: I'm in the same boat as many of the other customers here: Under the recommended spec I had these sticks fry themselves in under a year. I don't demand much from the machine or for extended periods anymore either. At this point the memory is so sideways that it can't pass a single test in memtest.

Other Thoughts: When it fails, it fails hard and ugly. BSOD after BSOD. You won't have to guess if it's gone bad.

1 out of 5 eggsTired of returning defetive memory

Pros: It was fast while it worked...probably no faster than other memory though

Cons: I bought this memory when upgrading from 4 to 8 meg. It worked for about 6 months then I started having boot problems. After paying $100 to have my computer checked out it was determined that I had a bad stick. Crucial gladly replaced it. 3 months later same problem. I found the bad stick and yanked it out. Another month, another bad stick. I've pulled them all out and gone back to what came in the computer. What a waste of money. I wasted mine but you don't have to waste yours.

1 out of 5 eggsHad Higher Hopes

Pros: - Nice timings and price (a year ago)
- Crucial name
- Heat spreaders

Cons: - Stick registered bad memory sectors before a year was up, but up until then, experienced many BSODs. Replaced this memory and haven't had a problem since.
- RMA process is painfully slooooooooowwww.

Other Thoughts: - I've bought Crucial in the past and have been very please. I know there's always a chance of getting defected memory, but it's only the 3rd or 4th time I've bought Crucial and 1/3 or 1/4 percent chance it's bad isn't good odds.

1 out of 5 eggsBSOD

Pros: Crucial will send new memory without any hassel.

Cons: Very poor quality. I bought 8 2GB sticks. I put 8GB into two new computer builds and I am extremely dissapointed with the poor quality of this RAM. I built the machines for a small business so it is important that they be reliable. Like others, I started to get BSOD messages after a couple of months. Downclocking the memory helped but eventually the memory fails. I've had 2 of the 8 sticks that I purchased go bad. Cruicial support RMA'd them without issue. I asked the support person I spoke with what percentage of this particular item number has been RMA'd and she said it's was low considering the number of items sold. Considering that I have experienced a 25% failure rate so far I have lost confidence in Crucial memory. The only way to restore it will be to see an increase in positive reviews going forward from others who have purchsed their RAM.

1 out of 5 eggs6 month failure

Pros: Worked right out of the box, no motherboard issues with it.

Cons: One stick failed causing BSOD's after a few months. Second stick is now doing the same thing.

Other Thoughts: For stock memory in a regular environment with no overclocking or big demand, seems like weak and cheap memory. Will be using a higher quality this time. Done with Crucial.

1 out of 5 eggsIt will fail....eventually

Pros: Works well when it works.

Cons: Within 6 months of my first set of 2x1gig, both sticks went bad. Crucial replaced them with no trouble. Over a year later, another went bad. My local vendor does not carry Crucial gaming memory any longer, due to their failure rate. I still have a set of 2x2gig that's good, so I'm not dead in the water, but I won't buy Crucial "high-end" RAM again.

Other Thoughts: I realize that my sticks that failed were of the 1 gig variety, but thought it significant that my local shop will only carry Crucial's standard memory any more.

I highly recommend NOT getting this RAM, for your own sanity.
