5 out of 5 eggsCrucial Ballistix kit for Rampage Extreme

Pros: These were on Asus' Rampage Extreme Memory QVL (080811). Installed them-Memory and BIOS played nice together. They run at rated clock(XMP)-No Problems!

Cons: None So Far.......

Other Thoughts: Haven't really O/C'ed them yet-may need active cooling later.....

4 out of 5 eggsWorking as intended

Pros: Runs at stock settings as advertised. Didn't get to hot even in my cramped case.

Cons: Didn't have much headroom for OC as I have seen posted on many sites. Still, getting advertised speeds out of ram these days is not guaranteed...so can't hardly complain these sticks didn't OC well.

Other Thoughts: Newegg shipped these from Memphis, TN which was a nice 2day ground delivery to Atlanta.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes what it should.

Pros: Really fast memory.
Bundled with good XFX video card

Cons: Perhaps 2 gigs isn't enough for some folks (but it is for me).

Other Thoughts: Even though it's only 2 gigs, all my games load quickly and have no memory-related problems. I'm fairly convinced that 2 more gigs would NOT help very much in most circumstances.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed after 1 year

Pros: Nothing special to say about it.

Cons: I purchased this one year ago (Feb 2008). April 2009, Memtest86+ is showing multiple failures. I ran the memory below its listed capability at 1333 Mhz in a cool case with a stable power supply.

Manufacturer Response:

Please contact our support at 1-800-336-8896 and we will assist you with an RMA if required. Ballistix carries a limited lifetime warranty and we want you to be happy with our product long after purchase. We also have options for cross shipment to minimize any down time.

4 out of 5 eggsram upgrade

Pros: had alittle performace boost with "vantage benchmark" increased buy 500 points over non xmp ram on a 1333 fsb. running an e8400@3.0 Which was nice!

Cons: The ram was alittle more pricey then other 4 gigs of ram - not triple channel

Other Thoughts: worth it, if you have x38 or x48 chipsets 1333,1600fsb intel boards and finding every last point on the bechmark, this performance increase was not from overclocking .... just a replacement of 4gig ram. (dx38bt)

3 out of 5 eggsRipped off?

Pros: It can reach 1600 @ 8,8,8,24 timings but not really as stable as you would think.

Cons: Price at the time of purchase was 400 and less than a month later dropped to almost 1/2 of the cost.

Other Thoughts: When you load this ram by default it runs at 1066 and CAN be OC to run @ 1600, so if you want my opinion this is false advertisement. The ram should by default once installed load at 1600 as advertised. Note for the curious, I am running an ASUS P5E3 Delux mobo.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Stuff!

Pros: Put a couple of these in my Nvidia 790 board and cranked them up to 1600 @ 7-7-7-24 at 1.7 volts and not even a wimper! Machine ran at 3.6 ghz with my E8400, all day long. Memory does get a little warm though.

Cons: After 6 months one of the boards started to produce memory errors after it warmed up. This caused me to take a trip to "blue screen city" a few times. Memtest quickly isolated the bad board and Newegg promply RMA'd it. Case closed, still a happy camper.

Other Thoughts: Things like this happen to electronic items from time to time through no fault of the manufacturer. Between Crucial & Newegg the failed memory will be replaced, and life will go on. This is such a good product that I did not feel it was necessary to downgrade the rating due to the failure.

2 out of 5 eggsI Hoped for More

Pros: Fancy heatspreader. Crucial name. 1600MHz promise.

Cons: Won't run at 1600MHz at all, or even 1333MHz half the time. Played with voltage from 1.54 - 1.9, and it refuses to run at 1600MHz, on a tested motherboard.

Other Thoughts: Q6700, Intel DX38BT, HX620, HD3850-512MB.
