4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Rosewill Xtreme Series RX850-S-B 850W Continuous @40°C ,80 PLUS Certified, ATX12V v2.2 & EPS12V v2.91, SLI Ready CrossFire Ready, Active PFC "Compatible with Core i7, i5" Power Supply

Pros: Very powerful for the price. Looks great. A ton of chords. Doesn't make alot of sound.

Cons: The plug in the back is extremely sensitive. If it is touched, the power supply will turn off.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat while it lasted.

This review is from: Rosewill Xtreme Series RX850-S-B 850W Continuous @40°C ,80 PLUS Certified, ATX12V v2.2 & EPS12V v2.91, SLI Ready CrossFire Ready, Active PFC "Compatible with Core i7, i5" Power Supply

Pros: Great power supply for the money has more than enough cables for just about any build. and 3 year warranty from rosewill is great

Cons: while the amount of cables is great in my mid-tower they took up a lot of space and were not all that flexible to move around. Also, after having installed for 15 months the power supply died; however, rosewill did have a 3 year warranty on it and was able to replace it, but shipping isn't cheap. the new one arrived and after running for about 2 hours in my build met the same fate. I didn't want to challenge my luck a third time so I am switching to a different one.

Other Thoughts: While it worked it was great, however, after the second failure in less than 2 weeks.

1 out of 5 eggsIt will break within few months

This review is from: Rosewill Xtreme Series RX850-S-B 850W Continuous @40°C ,80 PLUS Certified, ATX12V v2.2 & EPS12V v2.91, SLI Ready CrossFire Ready, Active PFC "Compatible with Core i7, i5" Power Supply

Pros: The PSU is very efficient and handles Heavy Gaming like a charm, while it lasts...

Cons: Owned the Power Supply for around 6 months and it worked fine until it started shutting down my computer as soon as I started playing a game or started a Graphic Performance test.

The computer will boot just fine, the temperature will be good, everything is fine, until you start using the graphic card. 850W should be MORE THAN ENOUGH to handle a single nVidia GTX 780 ti card, but it seams like it can't handle as much as it is supposed to.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking forward to buy a PSU for a single card, opt for a more efficient PSU, and you might as well throw a few extra bucks for a better quality product, it will payback on the long run.

1 out of 5 eggsComputer restarts during games

This review is from: Rosewill Xtreme Series RX850-S-B 850W Continuous @40°C ,80 PLUS Certified, ATX12V v2.2 & EPS12V v2.91, SLI Ready CrossFire Ready, Active PFC "Compatible with Core i7, i5" Power Supply

Pros: Quiet, has a pretty blue light

Cons: I didn't notice any issues until I started playing Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel a month after buying this. During any intense activity in the game my computer has a chance of immediately shutting off and restarting. There is no blue screen, no temperature issue, and nothing is logged in the Windows event viewer at the time of these restarts. I haven't had the time to test other graphics-intensive games other than Borderlands 2, which produces the same result.

So, I set up an RMA, paid the return shipping for a heavy power supply, and waited to receive my replacement, only to have it do the exact same thing happen again. This convinces me that there's an intrinsic problem with this supply, and it appears many others have had this same issue.

Other Thoughts: I upgraded from a 350W supply to support my new graphics card, and there's absolutely no way the extra 500 watts are insufficient to power the card. I cannot at all recommend this power supply, especially for use in heavy gaming.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed =/

This review is from: Rosewill Xtreme Series RX850-S-B 850W Continuous @40°C ,80 PLUS Certified, ATX12V v2.2 & EPS12V v2.91, SLI Ready CrossFire Ready, Active PFC "Compatible with Core i7, i5" Power Supply

Pros: looks neat when its working.

Cons: When ever I try and run any game my comp powers off then restarts.

Other Thoughts: I wanted to upgrade my PC so I got this 850W to take over what my old 700W was doing perfectly and it cant. My airflow is good but this thing just doesnt like to work when run any games. If I stay on my desktop and dont do anything my comp doesnt restart.... First Rosewill purchase, I would like to give them a second chance with this but cable management with this 850 is troublesome. We will see. =(

5 out of 5 eggsA titan among PSUs

This review is from: Rosewill Xtreme Series RX850-S-B 850W Continuous @40°C ,80 PLUS Certified, ATX12V v2.2 & EPS12V v2.91, SLI Ready CrossFire Ready, Active PFC "Compatible with Core i7, i5" Power Supply

Pros: LONG LASTING!!! I've owned this for 6 and 1/2 years. Purchased on 2/2/08.

This PSU has been in my computer for 6.5 years and is now getting ready to be transferred over to my new build. So happy to not have to buy a new PSU. This baby pumps out the power (850W) and runs forever.

Cons: I really cannot think of any. Certainly have not experienced any.

Other Thoughts: For the past 3 years my computer is in the basement, on carpet, in a cat filled house....yeah, not the best conditions for a PSU. This sucker has never had any problems. This baby has made me a believer in Rosewill. If this PSU ever dies, I know who I will be getting my next PSU from, no doubt. Most likely the same model.

This PSU has seen multiple video cards and a dying processor but has stood strong. It has been through power outages from T-Storms, Hurricanes, and near-by tornadoes (I'm not the smartest guy, all-weather gamer haha) with nothing but a standard surge protector strip between it and the wall. I'm sure I'm starting to sound like a vendor rep, but I am just a broke part-time pastor with no budget, so when things last forever and I don't have to replace them; I love it!

Don't pass this PSU up if 850W is enough.

5 out of 5 eggsA+ works great

This review is from: Rosewill Xtreme Series RX850-S-B 850W Continuous @40°C ,80 PLUS Certified, ATX12V v2.2 & EPS12V v2.91, SLI Ready CrossFire Ready, Active PFC "Compatible with Core i7, i5" Power Supply

Pros: Gives ample power to all my drives and devices I have hooked up not to mention it looks nice for a power supply

Cons: Internal temprature of tower case warm not sure if video card or power supply or mobo/cpu not risking overclocking had to turn overclocking off it got so warm in my steel tower

Other Thoughts: Would buy it again

2 out of 5 eggsI really wanted to like this thing..

This review is from: Rosewill Xtreme Series RX850-S-B 850W Continuous @40°C ,80 PLUS Certified, ATX12V v2.2 & EPS12V v2.91, SLI Ready CrossFire Ready, Active PFC "Compatible with Core i7, i5" Power Supply

Pros: Fan is quiet, lights add a nice touch to the computer.

Cons: This psu only worked consistently for about 7 months. Recently while playing games, specifically Assassins Creed 4, my computer started randomly restarting. I figured out that my power level was dropping after a while and it would cause my computer to turn off then back on. I purchased an evga supernova 850w psu and the problem has disappeared.

Other Thoughts: I read many reviews on this psu before I purchased it and I have it a chance after seeing mostly good reviews. I wanted to like this product but sometimes I guess you just get a bad one. I'll probably keep it for a spare or a future lower power project.

5 out of 5 eggsSIX AND A HALF YEARS and still going strong

This review is from: Rosewill Xtreme Series RX850-S-B 850W Continuous @40°C ,80 PLUS Certified, ATX12V v2.2 & EPS12V v2.91, SLI Ready CrossFire Ready, Active PFC "Compatible with Core i7, i5" Power Supply

Pros: I bought this right at the beginning of 2008. It has outlasted three computers, each of which used SLI and heavy water cooling and overclocking, I just keep putting it in the new ones. Nothing has rusted, the fan is as silent as the day I installed it, and none of the LEDs have burned out. Just blow out some of the dust every three years and you should be fine.

Cons: There are no cons. It's a perfect power supply.
