4 out of 5 eggsIt wasn't DOA after all, just a bad power cable.

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: Seems to work great.

Cons: Only problem is there is a vibration in the case and I can't figure out what is causing it yet. Very loud hum that stop if you tilt the case.

5 out of 5 eggsThis power supply is lasting 2 plus years!

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: Perfect size for small rigs.
Great cable length for the smaller size PSUs.
Smooth cables that were easy to move around for easy management.

Cons: Most of the cables aren't long enough for a full size tower but for the cost and the size of the PSU I won't dock an egg for it.

Other Thoughts: I was very nervous in buying a PSU from Rosewill because their towers aren't anything fancy. I have eaten my own words now that after 2 years it finally gets replaced because I have a bigger tower and motherboard now. Great for a starter computer build.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: This PSU was perfect for my first build coming back, powered everything I needed it to until I was finally ready to add on to the Computer. The blue fan went extremely well with my case as well and never had problems with the PSU. Overall very pleased especially for the price!

Cons: Nothing so far.

3 out of 5 eggsIt's not the best power supply

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: The only good thing I can really say about it, is that it has two fans to keep it cool.

Cons: The first problem I ran in to, was when I was installing it into my case. It has a bit of plastic when the power cord plugged in that made it hard for me to screw it in. Then after I installed it, I had to reorient it because the one of the cords wouldn't reach the top of the board. So, it worked for a few weeks then it just died on me, took it to radio shack yesterday, nothing could be done.

Other Thoughts: It's a nice PSU but that bit of plastic on the back is annoying to deal with. The two fans are nice to have, BUT there's no point in having them if you can't orient the PSU for optimal airflow because of the cord length.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks but is noisy now

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: Purchased in 2007 for a desktop build used mainly for email, internet, light gaming, and htpc duty. Runs an AMD 5600+, 4 gigs ram, HD3870, 2 HDs, 1 DVD, and 3 case fans. Never had any power related issues.
The cable sleeving is nice.
No issues with cable length in mid-tower case with full ATX AM2 board.

Cons: The above build was behind a tv stand so any noise was deadened. Transplanted it into a new build and have noticed that one or both of the fans have become very noisy. It makes a constant scratching sound, likely a failing bearing. It's louder than anything else in a relatively quiet build (120mm fans, upgraded video cooling, passive cpu cooling) so is getting replaced despite still being functional.

4 out of 5 eggsNice PSU Cables too short

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: Nice unit, The LEDS add to the looks of the case.

Cons: Not Modular, Cables too short even when installed in a Rosewill case. The 20 -pin connector and the ATX cable are too short. The ATX had to run across the MOBO and the Connector cable cannot be hidden so it runs along the case wall and it too is almost too short to work as well. A many complaints about this Rosewill should have corrected it by now.

Other Thoughts: Rosewill should send everyone that complained cable extensions. Looks like I will have to pay another $15 to get an 8" extension cable for the ATX cable. Not happy about this.
