1 out of 5 eggsDied during initial system setup.

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: It has blue LEDs and a manual off switch for said blue LEDs

Cons: purchased as part of http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.2188000

This PSU performed solidly for approximately 3 hrs. Then died and multi tool confirmed nothing to any rails whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: Looking forward to waiting 2-4 weeks for RMA process to be completed and hoping the replacement meets the standards I have come to expect from Rosewill.

5 out of 5 eggsUsing to Power a Bitcoin Miner

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: Good build quality, cables are more than long enough to reach devices within a full ATX Case with ease. Rolled edges so your not slicing your fingers open, steady voltages ( Spikes are minimal ) Fan is quiet but effective and keeps the PSU Cool

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: This power supply is currently powering a Bitmain Antminer S1 that has been converted to an S3. Stable power to this unit is crucial as only two PCI-E plugs power this device and there is no draw from any 12V Rail. United needed 450W and this power supply fit the bill at a very reasonable price

4 out of 5 eggsNicely Priced

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: I have owned this since July 2012. Great Price, works great and braided wires are a nice touch, plus it has blue lights so...yeah

Cons: cables too short and its no modular(which i knew when i bought it) ATX case it is installed on and the cables are too stiff and short.

Other Thoughts: I am thinking of upgrading to an 850 psu, but this was a great PSU for the money and is continue to be working.

1 out of 5 eggsMy Review (of the Rosewill Stallion RD500-2DB)

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: + Nicely braided wires
+ LED lit
+ Price

Cons: - It died on me within three days of usage (12V stopped transferring)
- Tiny fans (~80mm) get noisy

Other Thoughts: While I got it at a decent price, it failed on me so I have to pay shipping costs to have Newegg test it and then they will eventually either send a second or refund or say no go.

I had to go out and pay top dollar for a similar PSU in order to keep "connected" with the world.

2 out of 5 eggsthis power supply exploded on me

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: +cool and quiet
+reasonably priced
+LEDs looks nice at night

Cons: -it developed a coil whine noise after 5 years of use
-it exploded on me (see other thoughts)

Other Thoughts: I have had this power supply in my system since 2009 and it has worked great ever since until just a few weeks ago, the power supply started to make an annoying coil whine noise when I turn on my PC. Then just a few days ago while playing Dota 2, the power supply began to spark and it immediately shut off my PC, afterwards there was smoke coming from the power supply followed by a bad odor coming from the power supply unit. It served me well for 5 years and it truly went out with a bang.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy it Until they get Quality Control

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: Nice fans, quiet, compact, LED's are really cool

Cons: Failed just after a single month. PSU no longer provides enough power to run the computer graphics, although it did boot momentarily

Other Thoughts: This has to be a quality control issue, because the PSU never fully failed but everytime I start the computer the screen now flashes green pixels on and off everywhere, originally I was convinced my GPU had failed, so I pulled it out and used intergrated graphics to the same effect, then I shut down the computer and tried to restart but the PSU lights and fans would turn on for a second and then fail.... continuously. The computer isn't booting anymore.

PC specs:
ZOTAC GTX 970
8 gig single stick Hyperfury X RAM
i5-4960k
H60 watercooler
Z97I Mobo (Mini ITX)
System has 2x120mm fans

Estimated Wattage: 384 watts
Supposed available wattage: 450

Result: Disappointed with Rosewill, as this was my first product I bought from them

4 out of 5 eggsDelivers the power my PC needs, however there are some issues

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: +Delivers the right amount of power my current PC needs
+Reasonably priced
+Blue LEDs look nice

Cons: -Cables are bit too short
-Weird coil noise coming from the PSU after 5 years of use (see other thoughts)

Other Thoughts: I have had this PSU since 2009 and it hasn't given me a problem since then until recently a few months ago where the PSU makes a loud pitch whine noise for a few minutes after turning on the PC or waking it up from Sleep mode. It doesn't effect performance or system stability, but the noise is very annoying. Thankfully, it doesn't last long and goes away after a few minutes of using the PC until I boot up my PC from shut down/sleep mode.

5 out of 5 eggsJust what I wanted

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: I knew this PS would work because I have purchased nearly a dozen of them - covering 10 years. Have only had 2 fail and they were nearly 10 years old.
Chose NewEgg Supersaver shipping and it still only took 2 days to get here!! WOW!

Cons: Product in the box was correct, but packing slip belonged to someone in a completely different state, and for a completely different product.

3 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2DB 500W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: its nice led was cheap when i got it and no functioning problems

Cons: it only gave me about 350-400 watts, i suggest getting a 80+ so that you get at least 400+ watts from a 500watt psu
