Just what I needed
- Pros: *Matches the colors I was looking for to match my case.
*Enough power for what I need it for *Appears sturdy enough to last as long or longer than the one I replaced. *Selectable built in fan speed via rear 3 mode switch *Got it on a special w/ a free usb hub from Rosewill. *Breathed new life into my underpowered system.
- Cons: So far I can't really think of any serious cons besides a few things worth mentioning.
Like my previous PSU, this one doesn't exactly make up in space reduction and thus takes alot of space inside your case. Although not exactly an issue for me it may be an issue for anyone else that may have anything smaller than a Mid-tower. As I heard a reference to from another comment, it might as well have been nick named medusa.
- Other Thoughts: I got this to replace my 430-watt PSU which turned out to be under powering my system. Although I didn't get it because my last one failed I do intend to use it for my next full upgrade because my Mobo finally has begun showing signs of old age. I decided to buy this first because I wanted to make sure it could hold up against the constant usage I put my system through, nearly 24/7 nearly 80-90% of the time since I first built my PC. So far it's held up just fine and hasn't given me a single problem. I did follow through the suggested manufacturer advice of keeping the fan speed in the PSU at High for better durability against heat inside the computer. The color 'blue' compliments my tower's blue led and silver + black design.
A final note: I hadn't realized it sooner which I should have but didn't realize sooner that my system was actually underpowered from the time I upgraded my GPU. I noticed it performed rather sluggish. I got this PSU and performance increased overall.
- Pros: +Works as expected thus far
+Aesthetically pleasing +Rather quiet +Fan produces good airflow
- Cons: None thus far.
- Other Thoughts: This sucker has a lot of cables sprouting out of it. This is a pro unless you're using it in a micro ATX case. At this point, the multitude of cables become a pain. However, this is my fault, not the power supply's. Who the heck would this many molex connectors?!
I really don't like the 4+4 pin. At all. More power to the people with eight pin power hook-ups for their processors...
It stunk up my dorm room. The plastic mesh is excessively pungent.
Since these factors hardly merit the title of "con", they were placed here.
I REALLY like the mirror finish and blue lights. With the Sharpie art and this PSU, the case looks a lot better. As to why I refuse to buy a prettier case with better airflow: I'm an illogical individual, I guess.
The box it comes in is useful for storing items.
