1 out of 5 eggsImage freezes on Windows 8.1

Pros: Beautiful user interface.
Easy to setup.

Cons: I have a brand new Windows 8.1 (64) i7 with 12GB RAM and the image freezes or blacks out at times.

I updated witht he latest drivers, but there has been no improvement.

I have not been able to determine what causes this.

Other Thoughts: 1. Would a tuner card perform better?
2. Is there a more reliable usb tuner brand?

3 out of 5 eggsTricky Install, but it works fine

Pros: Very clear reception, good audio, simple interface, digital program guide, the USB extension cable came in very handy for my setup, it works just fine, I am happy with it.

Cons: Ok, for those of you that had problems installing this device, please note:
You have to use the install CD twice, first time as the instructions indicate, and then AGAIN to actually install the driver; windows does not install it for you....yes its a pain, but that is how I got it to function as intended.
The included antenna is a joke, I know some folk say they like it, but I tossed that thing back in the box and dug out my RCA HD rabbit ears, now I dont have to worry about trying to glue anything down so it will stand up haha.

A remote would have been nice, but hey no biggie.

The instruction sheet isnt written very clearly, I had to go to device manager to determine the drivers didnt install automatically.

After loading the drivers and rebooting, I went through the channel setup wizard, got 36 local channels easily, but somehow my windows audio service was turned off, another 3-5 minutes getting that back to working; why did it do that? Helluv I know, but it was simple to sort out.

I hope to never ever have to deal with such a pain in the rear install for a USB device again haha.

Other Thoughts: I thought this model had FM radio on it, apparently not. Oh well.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not work at all

Pros: None

Cons: Did not work. I Bought it for use over Videotron cable. The included antenna did not catch any channel. I tried it on Win 7, Ubuntu and Centos. Also tried WMC, XBMC, NextPVR and MediaPortal on those computers.

3 out of 5 eggsNice and Cheap if u can get it to work

Pros: Picks up HD Channels, my WINTV doesn't even do that and I paid $75 for that. You can set it up to record and watch later. Cheap for $25

Cons: I dont know why they cant have better software. If you get this to work right its awesome for the price but if you are having trouble good luck. Your computer may not recognize the device on install. Windows Media may not recognize it either. If you get channels to work they may freeze up. When you re-lable the channels they will not work the next time you start it up and you will have to re-scan. It says that you can set this up for more than one tuner but when you do you cant use both of them.

Other Thoughts: I have two of these and when they work correctly they are awesome. The software is cheap and has issues but if it works on your computer then you are lucky. I tried hooking up both turners and now I have issues with channels freezing up. I unplugged one of them and reinstalled the software multiple times and the channels still freeze. I should have left it alone. Ive updated windows and all of my drivers and still no luck. Im a gamer and have a good processor and GCU which you will need for the HD channels. Tech support is non-existent and there is limited info on their forums. Go to their website and look around before you make your decisions and ask yourself if you want to take the risk. Bottom line this is a great deal if it works for you if it doesn't you will be angry.

5 out of 5 eggskworld ub435-q v3

Pros: great picture quality, great recording quality, love the electronic program guide, included antenna very impressive for such a little guy. i was able to receive 15 channels in my workshop that bigger amplified antennas struggle with, i am using a old laptop with dual core pentium at 2.2ghz with intel graphics 15.6 inch hd screen and i am blown away by the picture quality, included software works fine, and yes works in media center also. did not try the time shifting function yet with the included software, but it works in media center fine.

Cons: the driver was not installed by the cd, had to install the driver manually from the cd no biggie.

Other Thoughts: would not hesitate to buy another one of these, runs barely warm not hot or anything.

5 out of 5 eggsJust a test for me. I'm thinking about moving from Directv to Cable Card.

Pros: Worked fine out of the box. I had downloaded the drivers beforehand from the support site. Hard to find but they were there. The drivers that shipped with it were current I think so no worries. It picked up all my OTA channels here although not many in my area. As I said, this is a test for me to move to Cable Card. More of a test of WMC than anything. It seems that WMC has everything to offer that my Directv HR22 has. The HR22 is so slow compared to my new HTPC. Foxconn AT-5570. Free remote from Newegg as well (works nice). By the way..... Nascar in 1080p is awesome. I have never installed the software that shipped with the tuner so I can't review that software. WMC worked perfect. For $25.00 or so, you can't go wrong.

Cons: None so far. I have been very pleased.

Other Thoughts: Again. For me, this is only a test for Cable Card and WMC. Be ready for 6gigs an hour for recordings. My 1tb drive is on the way. lol

1 out of 5 eggsTERRIBLE! STAY AWAY!

Pros: NONE...

Cons: This item did not work as advertised. I have 4 different computers that had a hard time recognizing the device. 3 of which were running windows 8, and 1 that was running windows 7. All computers have USB 2.0. The antenna that came with it did NOT pick up ANY channels. I also connected the USB to my own antenna that is positioned in my attic 40+ feet from the ground. That antenna detected channels, but they never played on ANY of the computers. I never ONCE saw a live video image. PAY ATTENTION TO THIS REVIEW, AND DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!
