5 out of 5 eggsHappily Retired

Pros: I've owned this card for almost 2 years and it's been solid the entire time. I've recently upgrade to a 7970 GHz edition, also by Gigabyte, so this will get passed down as most parts do.

Cons: The power plugs on the card were too tight, making it hard to install and remove. Having said that, it's not something I do a lot, so it was only a headache a couple of times.

Other Thoughts: This card seems like it was out of stock and then discontinued too quickly. If I wanted to extend the life of my 560 Ti line by going SLI, I'd be out of luck for a clean pairing.

1 out of 5 eggsI'm glad I let it go

Pros: The card's potential capability vs price point was good. It was relatively quiet and when it work performed nicely.

Cons: Like other reviews for this here and many, many posted around the internet this card was highly flawed, crashing and providing graphical distortion in 2d and 3d.

Other Thoughts: I was looking back through my order history after purchasing a video card (2 beyond this one). I'm glad that I just let RMA'ing this (to GIGABYTE) go. I had engaged support through two channels, the one offered through the Gigabyte's site and the email address used in review replies here. The interaction with support was a repetition of canned questions with no real answers. With the final solution being having to pay to shipped it and like many others have reported potentially getting a card that remained broken in return. Having dealt with EVGA, and, ASUS in the past I have to say this is by far the worse, with zero acknowledgement of a well known popular flaw with one of their products. Will avoid in the future.

2 out of 5 eggsVery Unhappy

Pros: When the card is working, it runs great. All my games are speedy, and the card performs well.

Cons: But, about every 3 days I am forced to restart my system as I start to get graphics glitches even in just plain old Windows 7. Tearing, messed up artifacts, and the driver begins to crash. My computer is completely unusable at that point and I have to completely shutdown and restart to get back to stable.

I have tried everything I can think of to resolve the issue including: making sure the card is physically alright (not overheating, etc), driver changes, tweaking the clock speeds downward to remove the factory overclock (which seems to help some users), and installing another known good card to see if the issue lies elsewhere in my system (which it does not),

Other Thoughts: Now I have to either sit on this card and live with the restarting, or RMA the card and wait 4-6 weeks for a replacement card, as I do not see an option to cross ship on the Gigabyte RMA page.

Very unhappy, I would not purchase another Gigabyte product.

1 out of 5 eggsDreadful Warranty RMA Experience

Pros: This card was fantastic when it was stable!

I bought it specifically for the (seemingly awesome) 3-year warranty.

Cons: Gigabyte has dropped the ball on this one. I have video evidence of this card crashing repeatedly, so I sent it in for warranty repair/replacement. I paid $30 to get it shipped quickly. I sent *everything*, assuming this was important.

What I got back was the SAME card, *nothing* done to it (it is still crashing in BF:BC2, League of Legends, and Skyrim on multiple machines), minus the external box that WAS sent with the graphics card! Is this really how customer service works now?

In summary, now if I want to sell it online/locally and wash my hands of this, I am actually worse off! Is there a number I can call to contact Gigabyte? No, it's all through their "support" website (what a joke!). Had I known all of this, I would have purchased the MSI TwinFrozr from the start. It was even cheaper at the time. I'm staying away from Gigabyte from now on if they aren't able to properly help with a real issue like this. Pathetic.

To quote Jensen from DX:HR - "I didn't ask for

Other Thoughts: I've learned my lesson. This is absolutely embarrassing. I am outraged that I've gotten less than a year of use out of a card that was claimed to be "more stable than stock" for $280.

2 out of 5 eggs'Odin' awful

Pros: run like a dream 3 times, ran okay once but the card had clocked it's self to 405mhz..

Cons: well driver constantly crashes, have contacted support and they did very little other than the 3 most common things, PSU/Heat/Drivers and test another card in same machine etc

all check and im good card not so much after 3/4days of driversweeper and installing every revision of the drivers im a tad annoyed.

Other Thoughts: i have heard that if you tweak the voltage it works perfectly so sounds like its a bios issue i would love gigabyte to pop off tweak a bios upping the voltage and release it so i don't have to break my warranty to do it my self

1 out of 5 eggsworst mistake

Pros: My review will probably sound like others but it was great while it lasted. It's now been about three months since purchase and it's a nightmare.

Cons: Been a gigabyte fan for years and this experience has just turned me off. They need to make a negative egg icon. This card has been a nightmare and the lack of support from both companies newegg and gigabyte is not helping. The first thing you'll notice is that you'll get all sorts of driver errors-everything.
In addition, games that work fine on 8600gt don't work on this card. As soon as I turn on a game and press "start" my screen looks completely shattered.
Updating your drivers made things worse. I've tried everything including reformatting my computer and it hasn't helped.
I contacted Newegg several times, the only thing they tell me is that I need to call Gigabyte. At this point, I'm scared to call gigabyte because it seems like people in this forum have received "new" cards but had worse results. This is the worst mistake-do not buy gigabyte products and don't expect Newegg to help you with these matters.

1 out of 5 eggsUnstable

Pros: When it worked, it was a great card for the money, good frame-rates, little fan noise.

Cons: Same issue as others have reported with the periodic driver failures and requiring a restart. Card is unstable. (rev 1.0).

Service: I put a request into Gigabyte's system 3 days ago and I have not even got an acknowledgement email. I'm able to verify my address and see my case stuck in "the mail will be processed" state.

Other Thoughts: Running a different card (GTX275) on the same system with no issues. I would suggest something possibly a bit more stable.

1 out of 5 eggsDissapointed

Pros: When this card is working it really does a great job and you'll be very happy with your framerates.

Cons: I have been using this card for quite some time now (over 6 months) and since I have gotten it I've had some problems.

Initially once in a while the driver would get errors saying that the driver has failed. This would happen from time to time. I found out that this issue is due to an unstable overclock. Manually tweaking the voltage actually prevented this from happening again for some time. I spent days upon weeks of different drivers and uninstalling/reinstalling before I found this solution in a forum. This helped me for some time but I still get a crash here and there which is very disappointing. This was also causing the white screen of death in BFBC2.

Another issue with this card is that if you don't shut your computer down occasionally it does not refresh itself and seems to have a leak to where it will start showing artifacts. Each time this occurs I shut down and power back on my system and then the card works perfectly (that is until I get another driver fail

Other Thoughts: I ran out of room so here's more:

I contacted Gigabyte to see if they had an unreleased or beta firmware that would make this card more stable but was informed that they actually do not. I requested that the gentleman inform his R&D folks that this card has many issues with overclock. He refused to do so.

This is very frustrating especially seeing that many people leaving feedback here are having the same problem. Many are also reporting that after doing an RMA with Gigabyte they are getting a worse card back!

This is aweful and I cannot believe Gigabyte is selling a product like this. I notice they now have a hardware version 2 of this card but I do not know if this has the same issues. If it doesn't I feel that everyone should get a free upgrade to that card for all of the problems they are experiencing!

DO NOT BUY THIS CARD!

1 out of 5 eggsImpressive, but don't buy it

Pros: Good price for the specs. Awesome performance when there's no issues. Quiet and runs cool. I very much enjoyed it for the first 90 days or so. Phenomenal frame rates.

Cons: The card worked fine for the first 3 months. Once you update the drivers from Nvidia or from Windows update, the card goes crazy. This card refuses to work with anything except the enclosed 266.44 drivers. I had to do a system restore to get back to 266.44 or I wouldn't even be writing this.

Even those drivers, however, are not completely immune and you will still get the occasional display driver errors and weird artifacts like snow, tearing, and it drops out of games unexpectedly when running OpenGL or DirectX games. Can you believe that even Firefox crashes the driver?

But of course, I am fully aware that I am stuck with this card because it's been more than 30 days. You can be sure that I've learned something valuable from this $260 mistake: I'll never buy Gigabyte products again.

Other Thoughts: I guess I'm not the first with these problems. Take a look at the Nvidia forums and you'll see what I mean.

2 out of 5 eggsDo Not Buy!

Pros: Card worked great for about 3-4 months. It's very fast and handled all of my games and gpu programs very well.

Cons: About 2 months ago, I started encountering the errors which many other reviewers have encountered. The bug started happening at least once a day, but its frequency seems to be getting higher. It seems to crash anytime OpenGL is used heavily (Flash, Games, or rendering) and some of the symptoms are: Strange Flickers, Bad Clipping, Unable to load some random textures, BSOD, Nvidia kernel crashes, OpenGL Driver crashes, ect..

Other Thoughts: I used to be a Gigabyte fanboy since their motherboards have worked quite well for me in the past couple of years but now I will be switching to EVGA products as their reviews are consistently better.
Also, I tried to RMA but I have received no response. This probably does not matter anyways as other reviewers who completed RMA's still received new faulty cards.

Save yourself the hassle and DON'T GET THIS CARD!
