4 out of 5 eggsCard works fine with ATI drivers

Pros: Low cost, good performance Aero experience for the business or HTPC user. HDMI output.

Cons: Included small form-factor bracket limits you to the DVI connection only. A second bracket would have been nice so that you don't lose dual monitor functionality. If you use the full height bracket though, you still have access to the outputs however, so don't let that sway you if you're not using the small form factor plate.

Other Thoughts: Not sure why people are saying that the ATI drivers won't work with this card. I installed the 10.7 drivers just fine on a Windows 7 Enterprise x64 system from ATI's website and the user is having no issues with it. I tested with PCMark and 3DMark, and the system turned in acceptable scores for this class of video card. Zero instability.
We did purchase this from Newegg on the company account. Using my account to post this overview.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Video Card

Pros: I Love It Looks Really Good

Cons: I Don't Understand Why People Are Giving This Video Card Such A Bad Review.

Other Thoughts: Excellent Runs Good With Windows 7. I Think People Might Have To Check There Driver Settings Or Display Setting

1 out of 5 eggsStay away from 5450

Pros: Good features if they worked (Bit streaming, HDMI, custom screen resolution, other cool stuff).

Cons: This card is very unsteady. There are known issues with both ATI 5450 and 5670. You can install only the catalyst software CD that came with the GPU. If you go to ATIs website and update the drivers, it the system will not show the screen when it is supposed to show windows login screen. The only option is for you to go to safe mode and restore the system to original drivers. The dirvers that come with the CD do not work well with Win 7 Professional (32 bit and 64 bit) and Win XP Pro. I wasted days of time trying to get these cards to work properly even on the stock drivers.

Other Thoughts: The driver & performance issues are well known and ATI does not do anything about it. My suggestion would be to stay away from ATI 5XXX series for a while until they get it right.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad for the $

Pros: Bought this for my wifes HP Slimline PC. Works as it should, with a very easy setup. Not a high end card ofcourse, but great for slim machines, and low budget gamers.

Cons: Not much better than the onboard video HP uses, but does help.

Other Thoughts: If you need a video card for a slimline, or any other small form factor PC, this is about as good as it gets for the $.

4 out of 5 eggsATI needs to get its act right

Pros: Ok. So this card has been excellent when it is working fine. Using it in my HTPC and love that it supports TrueHD and DTS MA bitstreaming. Plays full HD videos (with DXVA enabled) smoothly and I feel that pic quality has noticable improved over my old HD 3870....Now for the cons...

Cons: The major issue that ATI is turning a blind eye to is these 5xxx series cards have major issues with "ATI powerplay". I was getting audio dropouts while playing video without DXVA enabled..like with 7MC and ffdshow. I spent countless hours trying to fix this but finally found out this is a known issue on these cards and has to do with ATI PowerPlay automatically lowering/switching the clocks for no rhyme or reason causing these audio dropouts. After disabling powerplay (ggogle), everything works like a charm....
This is the second product I came across from ATI which has such a major issue ( the first was the infamous No DVI issue with certain monitors). In both cases, countless e-mails have been sent to them but they turn a blind eye....

Other Thoughts: Since, this is not an issue with Gigabyte, I would just deduct 1 egg...

4 out of 5 eggsOk, sort of

Pros: Low cost, single slot, low power, drops right in and runs fine under Win 7 - 64 bit.
Short / low card - not going to bump into anything. Fan is *very* quiet.
Card is solidly made, connectors are all easy to get at.

Cons: With the current drivers, not very fast. They have been out for ~ 1 month so that's not a real big surprise.
Turns in 5's on Win 7 ratings. I know it's a stupid metric, but there it is. Hopefully lots of room to improve the drivers.
If you need speed today, go with a different chip set.

Other Thoughts: System:

3 GHz Quad core CPU
Fast RAM

Both in the high 7's on Win 7

5 out of 5 eggsNice HTPC Card

Pros: I am using this card in an HTPC build along with the Zotac mini-itx 9300. Installed flawlessly and picked up my 46" Toshiba via hdmi with no problems even before installing drivers. Had a problem with another brand card with this, had to hook up standard vga and install drivers before I could get the TV to be recognized on the hdmi, but no problems with this one. Does not get too hot, even after playing blu-ray content for more than 18hours straight.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Highly recommend for a dedicated HTPC card. Low profile and low price, flawless video playback.
