3 out of 5 eggsGood Enough!

Pros: Was a good price! Works well for my inlaws as a internet surfing, bill paying machine. They do little with it. Used this board for it's price and ability to pick up parts cheaply and expand as needed. It works fine.

Cons: 1156 was a flash in the pan and should have never been released. Wasted time and money to build system on this thinking it would be around for a while like most intel stuff.

Manufacturer Response:

Good day Kirk T.,
Thank you for the feedback and the glad the motherboard is working for you. If you ever need assistance or troubleshooting please feel free to contact us 24/7. We are available at 888.881.3842 option 1 or by email newegg@evga.com.
Sincerely,
EVGA Customer Support

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board. Great Features!

Pros: Very easy to work with. Install went w/o a hitch. Great on board features like power and reset button on mobo along with great cpu temp lcd as well as easy to understand post info. Works great with on Windows 7 pro with my i5 2.8, 8 GB of G.Skill ripjaw X's (2 x 4GB), and an EVGA GTX 460. Booted first time after build was complete. Also fits a Zalman CNPS9900 just fine. Getting 21 deg c idle with that btw :-)

Cons: None as of yet, everything works like a charm.

Other Thoughts: Someone mentioned ram issues and I did not run into this what so ever. I would recommend looking into the ram you purchased or even the OS you are running that is probably the issue because mine found the 8 i put in just fine and i plan on putting 8 more in...

5 out of 5 eggsBest design and company ever

Pros: Absolutely the best board I've ever used, perfectly stable. The first board I actually ordered from another retailer who shares it's name with a big jungle in South America and it would not even post but I returned it and ordered the same board from Newegg and the new one has been absolutely sick!

The board's design is second to none in my opinion. I particularly love the cpu temperature display integrated onto the board; I don't even overclock but I find it really nice to be able to know my relative cpu load just by glancing through the mesh on the side of my case. Even the options in the bios are even simpler than my old Intel board but at the same time the board's bios offer every option I have ever wished I had on any board.

Cons: Really rather minimalistic but has everything I would ever really use. It's perfect for my uses, I'm a big fan.

Other Thoughts: I ended up returning the board to the other retailer rather than going through the EVGA rma process but before I did so I had called EVGA support and it was the most amazing support I've ever received!!

The guy I talked to was knowledgeable and was clearly not just going down a predefined troubleshooting list. When I called back a second time for a follow-up question they connected me directly to the same support agent. I was calling on a Saturday night, EVGA it turns out has 24/7 phone support, something unheard of in my experience.

It would have been a piece of cake to go through their rma process but I needed a replacement as fast as possible so I just returned the defective board and ordered a new board from Newegg instead.

Absolutely the best, most helpful, honest company I have ever dealt with in my life!! Will be buying from them again, I assure you! :D

4 out of 5 eggsGreat MB, Good Price.

Pros: OC Capable, Friendly Bios interface, Capable of up to 16GB of RAM, up to 14 USB 2.0 Slots, LOTS of room for expansion.

Cons: None found

Other Thoughts: I got this MB with the hope in a year or so to upgrade to an i7. Even with the 550 i3 I have in it now it screams. They are coupled with Corsair XMS3 2x2GB and an OCZ 60BG SSD for and OS Drive and a WD 1TB 5200 RPM Storage drive. I get a Windows Score of 5.0 only because I'm running a Quadro FX 3450 for the time being. Once replaced I'll be at a 5.9 for RAM. Not bad for a $600 build.

1 out of 5 eggsDo NOT use this for a Hackintosh!!!!!!

Pros: If you are using it for a Windows machine, it's OK and functional.
Support is timely and helpful, albeit useless for me.

Cons: There is NO setting for HPET 64 bit. Since most $50 motherboards have this setting, I was absolutely stunned to find out this board doesn't support it. You can get to HPET, but it's only memory addressable, which is completely worthless. I went through all levels of support up to the product team. I voiced my displeasure at this motherboard and advised I would tell everyone I know NOT to buy it.

Other Thoughts: This was my Xmas present from my wife and she bought it from New Egg. It's now basically a paperweight and useless.

2 out of 5 eggsNot what I expected...

Pros: Had it for 11 months now - Looks Great and works well for most everything it was intended for. Very stable - EVGA almost got it right.

Cons: Like many people here, I had trouble getting it to recognize more than 1.99Gb of ram. Unfortunately none of their solutions worked for me. It refuses to acknowledge anything higher.

Other Thoughts: The board also came with the double-start BIOS problem. It was an easy fix, but not what I would have expected from a company with a reputation like EVGA's. That should have been corrected in their first field tests. I like their video cards, but I'm disappointed and I won't be in a hurry to buy another motherboard with the EVGA name.

2 out of 5 eggsNot Satisfied

Pros: General Specs

Cons: It came with a bent pin in the cpu. I'm surpised the board passed inspection at EVGA.

The audio cuts out and I have to reboot the machine constantly to reset it. The forums at EVGA say it has to do something with the BIOS, but its a shame that customers have to deal with it after their purchase.

Other Thoughts: The overall specs of this board barely redeem it from a refund.

I will no longer consider EVGA in my future purchases.

2 out of 5 eggsTerrible experience

Pros: Looks very very nice
Lots of USB ports
Little LCD screen shows temps

Cons: Little LCD screen shows error codes that aren't listed in the manual
Refused to update its own BIOS
Really really didn't like to boot
Sometimes took upwards of five minutes to boot using an SSD
Messed up my JMicron controller
Broke my HDD
Broke my windows
Refuses to OC well...

I installed this board as a supposedly better substitute for a now discontinued MSI H57m-ED65. With the MIR I figured what the hell why not. I had a buyer for the MSI board and I was actually making money buying the EVGA. I got it home, put everything into my case and followed the instructs perfectly. First boot, nothing at all. Second boot, error codes changing between one that exists in the manual and another that doesn't. Third boot, Windows takes ages to start. As soon as I hit windows I check my computer to make sure all of the drives are connected. My storage drive (a 1 tera F3) immediately started making a loud click every ten or so seconds. I ignored that and went about my day.

Other Thoughts: After many other hiccups, I decided to re install my old board and return this one. I plugged in my old MSI board and Windows tells me that BOOTMGR is missing... great. So after a full reinstall of Windows, I notice my 1TB drive is completely non existant. It's now dead. Thanks EVGA...

Gave 2 eggs in case my board was just a huge dud of some sort but I'm definitely never buying EVGA again.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great simple mobo, lots of tweaking options in bios, does exactly what it's supposed to

Cons: terrible placement of front audio connector, right in the way of the PCI-E x16 slot if you're using a larger graphics card, not really a big deal though.
