1 out of 5 eggsreboots constantly when playing games

Pros: works good when not under load, was easy to install.

Cons: Well I put a gtx 960 in it, and went to play games like eq2, wow and so forth, it would reboot a lot. So if you like reading the web fine, but this mother board for playing games was just bad.

Other Thoughts: So I took out the 960, and tried using on board graphics. Running web pages fine, playing games boom. Reboot. So I changed power supply to a corsair 750. Changed memory. The only thing I did not change was the cpu.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
For the issue, please load the BIOS default.
Check the CPU is not overheating.
Test with single memory module.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard, first one arrived DOA though.

Pros: Upgraded to this motherboard when my older ASRock Z68 kicked the can. Once I got a working board, the installation and bootup went perfect. Overclocking my Intel i5 2500k was super simple.

Cons: First board was DOA and that was a bummer, especially since my older ASRock board crapped out on me.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. All mainboards are fully tested to assure the quality. Unfortunately, due to nature of electronic product, it can happen.
Glad to hear replacement mainboard is up and running.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent replacement board.

Pros: This board was pretty much the only one I could find that supports 1155 CPUs' that was still in new condition. It has all the specs that I needed to utilize all of the components I had on my previous board, minus all the gimmicks said board had. BIOS is simpler to use (it came with the latest one already installed) compared to the old one. My system is now in pristine condition after downloading all the latest drivers from the Asrock site.

System specs:

Asrock Z77 Extreme 4
i7 3770K running at 4.4 GHz 70C at full load
Corsair Hydro H90
2x EVGA GTX 660 in SLI
Samsung 500 GB 840 EVO with Windows 7 Ultimate
WD Black 1 TB for storage
16 GB Kingston Hyper X Memory
EVGA SuperNove 850 G2
All packed in a Thermaltake Overseer RX-I

Cons: At the start, I was having issues with the USB ports not working, but after some research the problems were solved with the drivers I mentioned. It's all part of the learning process, nothing to take away an egg for.

Other Thoughts: Over all I am very pleased with the performance and cost effectiveness of this board. Form factor was also thinner compared to my last board which allowed for more room for air flow with the cables out of the way.

5 out of 5 eggsstill good

Pros: I have no problems in over a year of ownership gaming daily on this motherboard, I have used a single GTX 560ti and SLI GTX 560tis, and GTX 970 with GTX 560ti as dedicated Phys-X card.

Very easy overclocks with a plain i53450P using the nonK-OC program which just uses turbo speeds all the time. I put a Cooler Master with the three pipes cooler on it, and it works well playing FC4 at Ultra settings with the GTX970 pushing pixels.

Happy as heck with ASrock, they have quality in them, have used their motherboards before.

Cons: Can't think of any, tho the price is still kinda high considering it is 2 yr old technology, but good is good. I would look at the 1150 socket series of motherboards and the newest cpus, p;rob get lower price for same stuff.

Other Thoughts: I can still play all the AAA games at ultra, and it is going strong.

Remember, your OS like Win 8.1 is locked to the motherboard, so get a good motherboard, that is one thing that you will not be upgrading on your system till you get a new system.... good advice.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfect!

Pros: Worked right out of the box with no problems. Not sure where all these reviews are coming from about dead MB. Dead Ram slot, Pci etc.. I had a couple hiccups but that's cause my knowledge isn't the greatest. I bought this board because I'm new to the PC master race. I own an I7-2600(non-k) I got in an OEM computer from a big box store years ago. Did some reading about OC'ing. This chip can only be OC 4 bins over and thats it.

Before I went out and spent thousands on a new computer overclocking I wanted to try it with this first.

Heres my set up. I7 2600(non-k), Nvidia GTX 970, I bought 8GB Corsair Ram 1600MHZ with 7-7-7-24 latency. Windows 8.1 I wanted to have a little bit faster Ram and try lower latency.

Currently its Oc'ed to 37, 38,39 and 40. The original setup was 35-38. I dropped the voltage and I get 22c idle and 50-54c during gaming. I also have a corsair H100i, which is not favorable but that's another review.

For a beginner it works as stated and no issues. I would not hesitate to recommend this board to the new people who want to get their feet wet. Bios has tons of options that I don't even know how to completely use.

Cons: The location of the CPU power connector. Not really the MB fault. More of my case not really designed for AIO cooling, but the radiator rubs against the CPU power source. Its just a tad to high. But not a game changer. The Corsair was a last minute decision as my stock CPU cooler would go back in properly. Cheap plastic connections not snapping properly.

Other Thoughts: For a beginner this is a good start. Well invested money. With all the upgrades my benchmarks went from 6800 to 10,400 on firestrike. I could probably get it a little higher but its good where its at right now.

Just make sure you ground yourself properly with an anti-static strap before touching a motherboard!!! This technology is a little bit older but still works fine for today. I am currently saving for the I7 5960X for a future build.

Do your research before just buying something and make sure you know what your doing and all parts are compatible.

1 out of 5 eggsWaist of time and energy

Pros: Good Layout
Great Specs
On board Switches for Reset, Power, and Cmos are a great idea

Cons: Code 55 and no Boot 2 bad memory sockets B1 and B2

Other Thoughts: Planned to re-purpose a I5 2500K
After new approved Memory, a new Power 600W supply, and a 2600K processor. ould not even boot
Tested with 1 stick memory and onboard video
found out that Both A slots worked neither b slot worked
Not waisting any mot time and money

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please trouble shoot the mainboard whether the issue is resolved.

• Clear the CMOS.
• Check the mainboard’s CPU contact pins are normal (should be pointing same way and pattern).
• Reseat the CPU and heatsink fan if socket pins are normal.
• Test with single memory module on B1, then B2 one at the time.

3 out of 5 eggsCaution - Digital audio poor on these boards

Pros: Does mostly what a motherboard should...

Cons: Huge con is that the digital out is NOT 5.1! unbelievable! Since I got this as a home theater PC you can imagine the pain I am going through. Now have to buy a separate audio card just to get digital audio (something my 7 year old mother board was doing fine till it died).

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer

Thank you for purchase and review.
For the audio digital 5.1, please visit link below for setting.
However, it's required playback software (Power DVD 10 or later).

5 out of 5 eggsgreat board with replacement

Pros: First board had a broken heatsink, second board was fine and does everything I expected it to do. AS long as you get a good one of the bat, you should not have any problems.

Cons: took 2 boards to get a good one

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: Had the tech I wanted at a decent price

Cons: Too bad its complete garbage.

Other Thoughts: Started with intermittent reboots.

PCI express slot 1 died, had to move gpu to slot 2. no sli I for me... ever.

DDR slot a2 died, then DDR slot b1 died. Can only use one stick of ram in slot a1.

USB 3.0 slots recognized 3.0 devices twice in life of board. When I plug in a 3.0 drive it doesnt recognize them. Nothing. Dead.

Can not plug in more than one internal hard drive without booting into error codes, no matter what configuration I try.

Ive tried replacing the power supply, the memory and hard drives. None were at fault, it was this garbage board.

Never over clocked anything. I recommend customers avoid ALL asrock motherboards. I never had ANY problems with ASUS, MSI or gigabyte. Just spend the extra and get a better brand. Buy this board if you like error codes, crashes, random restarts and garbage reliability. Would not take a new replacement if one was given. It would go in the trash where it belongs, not worth the trouble.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer
