This review is from: ASUS Z97-A LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: The MB was easy to setup and install. The diagnostic LED lights were a help last night when firing up the system for the first time. So far the system seems to be running well, but I have a long way to get in order to get everything setup the way I would like.
Cons: I had to remove the GPU card as well as 3 of the 4 sticks of memory in order to get WIN7 to install last night. After hours of wasted time I decided to just start removing items from the system to see what the issue was. After putting the 3 sticks of memory back in, the MB didn't recognize them and actually had the one rated at a slower speed. I do believe I have these issues resolved now.
Other Thoughts: I am a fan of ASUS boards and have always used them. This was by far my hardest build as far as getting Windows installed. I am hoping it was just something with drivers or not recognizing the memory on the board versus a bad MB. Only time will tell I guess.

Rating: 1/5Yet again: DOA
This review is from: ASUS Z97-A LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: Love ASUS, when the product works they make an excellent product. Have been using ASUS for over 15 years.
Cons: Massive DOA rate, over half the time the board I get is DOA, either won't post, or won't turn on.
More than 3 times I have submitted for an RMA, and even then the replacement board is DOA. This particular board even had bent pins in one of the boards USB interfaces. Didn't think that would short out the board but it won't post, so who knows.
Manufacturer Response:
Greetings Halps,
I do apologize that you experienced issues with your replacement motherboard as well sir. If you have not RMA'd again, I would be happy to assist you with your current case. Please contact me through email and include your reference number within the subject line as well as your past RMA number. In addition, please provide me with what troubleshooting steps you had tried, as well as the rest of the systems hardware configuration. Thank you. Cs#N141067610

This review is from: ASUS Z97-A LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: -Is a place for an Intel CPU to exist -Lets you overclock
Cons: -Isn't a fan of 3/4-way SLI -You know what you're buying
Other Thoughts: -i5-4690k@4.3GHz Anyone that says this isn't as good as the Sabertooth isn't smart.
Anyone that says this doesn't overclock well is thick.

Rating: 1/5It was a bad memory...
This review is from: ASUS Z97-A LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: It's relatively inexpensive compared to the others and still supports 32gb- in theory.
Cons: DIMM slots 3 and 4 will not work no matter what configuration I try. 1 stick in either slot or 1 in each. The only memory slots that work are 1 and 2. This has been a very frustrating experience.
Other Thoughts: I've been really pro-ASUS for several years now. Most of the gear they put out is pretty high quality. The Z97-A though, not so much. Given the instability of the Crosshair IV and Crosshair V AMD chipsets systems that I own, and now this, I think it's time to move on from Asus.
Manufacturer Response:
Dear Valued Customer,
I am sorry to hear that you are having issues configuring the RAM on your board. Is it a 32GB set that is on the QVL? What is it that you experience when all dimms are installed? At your earliest convenience, please contact me through email, including your reference number within the subject line, and we can discuss this case further. In addition, please provide me with what troubleshooting steps you have tried, as well as the rest of the systems hardware configuration. Thank you. Cs#N141064939

Rating: 5/5seamless upgrade
This review is from: ASUS Z97-A LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: I upgraded from an Asus z87-a to Asus z97-a and it was very easy. I did not have to reinstall anything I simply switched everything and it worked flawlessly. the z97 looks a lot better aesthetically and the software wise. more fans supported. more connections (m.2 and data express) smoother playback/access to hard drives ( why I upgraded to begin with).
Cons: the heatsink on the top goes a little bit higher. no longer able to do a push pull config in my corsair 750d with my h105 anymore. could have more data ports.

Rating: 3/5Am Anxious
This review is from: ASUS Z97-A LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: Installed fine and everything SEEMED to be okay. After some hard drive/OS issues (not the MB's fault) I finally got my system booted and running.
Cons: After a good bootup, I checked NVIDIA Contol Panel to set the two ASUS video cards into SLI mode. Only saw one card installed. Moved the video cards around to make sure they were okay and when I installed the 2nd card into the only remaining PCIe slot (7) NVIDIA Contol Panel showed both cards but no SLI option. On referencing the ASUS Manual, it said that for SLI to use slots 2& 5. No joy! Slot 5 is totally unresponsive. Had to pull down the whole system and RMA it back to Newegg. That is in process. After many items purchased from Newegg, we'll see if their customer service matches their sales efforts. In the meantime, no PC (doing this review on the wife's rig).
Other Thoughts: After reading many of the reviews right here, needless to say I see many with the same or similar problem I have encountered and that makes me anxious about sticking with ASUS as I have all these many years. I know the Z97-A is not a high end board, but it seems something else is at work here, perhaps quality assurance. Rest assured that if the replacement board has issues, I will take my business elsewhere while sharing my experience with all who care.

Rating: 1/5Nice motherboard, broke fast, terrible service
This review is from: ASUS Z97-A LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: - Looks really nice. - Isn't Alienware :) - Easy to install - UEFI bios is easy to use, and awesome - Supports SLI - Great SATA cable support with 6Gb/s - Loads of USB slots - Cables are easy to connect - It "works"
Cons: - Back Shield is REALLY HARD to install - Terrible Technical Support. - Terrible latency. (Latency Spikes) - Seems to cause lag spikes from latency issues - Gives you nightmares. - Feels slow. - One of the PCI-express connectors on the board doesn't even work.
Other Thoughts: I have been having LOADS off issues with this motherboard. Sure it's a nice motherboard, and I am sure that people who have this board like it. But in my own experiences I believe that this motherboard sucks. I even get lag spikes in the Bios screen. That is sad.
Manufacturer Response:
Greetings First Time Builder,
I do apologize that you experienced issues with your motherboard. How had you tested the latency and what was the rest of your systems configuration? Are you certain there are no bent pins on the CPU socket as I have never seen "lag spikes" in a bios. If you would like to discuss this case further, please contact me through email and include your reference number within the subject line. In addition, please provide me with what troubleshooting steps you had tried, as well as the rest of the systems hardware configuration. Thank you. Cs#N141064647

This review is from: ASUS Z97-A LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: This thing is awesome, worked right out of the box on my kind of funky build using an xeon 1241v3 @ 3.5Ghz. I did a lot of research making sure this motherboard was compatible, but you never know. I booted it up and it recognized my cpu with no issues whatsoever. Picked up my ram as well no troubles. Booted off a usb flash drive, no problems. UEFI BIOS ARE THE BOMB! Everything is easy, wonder through for a while and you will feel right at home. You cannot beat this motherboard for the price! Seriously a great deal for a quality product.
I have had so many DOA motherboards I now choose nothing but ASUS.. Call me a fanboy or what have you but they have the best track record for me thus far, and I intend on supporting them fully.
Cons: Wouldn't mind more SATA connections Different color scheme would be ideal, not many other components come in this black/gold scheme... Oh well.
Other Thoughts: If you about to make a new build and want a decent 1150 motherboard but don't want to break the bank, this is for you. It comes with most all the important features.
People pondering an xeon build, THIS IS THE MOBO FOR YOU! I am serious. Xeons only support one pci-e x16 graphics card, so you will never need a quad sli capable mobo or anything like that. This is the perfect solution to your searching. Just buy it.

This review is from: ASUS Z97-A LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: Everything works, but..
Cons: Everything went well for the first day - after that, the motherboard wasn't able to read my videocard at all on either of the three slots.
Other Thoughts: At first I thought it was EVGA's problem, but after getting sent back 2 new cards and still having the same issue, I found out it was the motherboard. I can't even send it back for a refund because the 30 days have now passed. Waste of money. Do not buy this.
Manufacturer Response:
Greetings Racco,
I am sorry that you experienced issues with the motherboard. At your earliest convenience, please contact me through email, including your reference number within the subject line, and we can discuss this case further. This review is from: ASUS Z97-A LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: This system board has lots of features, and is manufactured with solid quality, all at a respectable price.
Cons: None that I can see.
Other Thoughts: While this motherboard is designed with overclocking in mind, I'm running my setup at stock speeds, paired with an Intel Core i7 4790K CPU, and this system is rock solid.
Also, I've had a RAM module flake out on me, soon after firing this system up, and this board will even help you in diagnosing the problem. It was some DDR3 RAM from an older home built system that I've stripped apart, but I'm planning to replace the memory soon, anyway.
