5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mobo

Pros: Incredible motherboard for a good price. Bios are well thought out. Utilities that come with the board work well. I have the AI Suite 3 installed which allows you to custom control fan speeds, overclocks, etc. through the software. Mobo. looks great in the case, the red led "circuit lighting" around the sound card module add extra spice.

Cons: This is the z87 chipset, so there is a possibility that this board wont support the new Broadwell intel chips when they are released. Also, I had to install my thermalright ib-e extreme fans in a pull pull config to leave room for the memory. Not worth pulling an egg since that cooler is way over-sized.

Other Thoughts: I was able to post with the i5-4690k installed. But, you do need to update your bios to the latest once windows is installed. Also, be sure to enable XMP in the bios to get the best performance out of your memory modules.

1 out of 5 eggsStinks

Pros: Looks good.

Cons: I have never had more boot hang ups on any motherboard ( I have had lots) than this one. I paid top dollar for bottom product.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear F.N.,

I do apologize that you are currently having issues with your motherboard locking up sir. Have you contacted Newegg in regards to a replacement if possible? Please contact me through email and I would be happy to assist you. In addition, please provide me with what troubleshooting steps you have tried so far including your reference number within the subject line, as well as the complete parts list you are using and we can discuss this case further as well as setup an RMA with ASUS if needed. Thank you. Cs#N140848945

2 out of 5 eggsASUS customer service page

Pros: The motherboard is aesthetically pleasing. Has all the features I was looking for and plenty of Sata ports.

Cons: I am having some issues with the boot but I cannot send a support email to ASUS because there customer service support tickets are broken. It kind of ridiculious, you fill out a 20 question page about your system and it just keeps saying must fill in blank. They are all filled in....

Other Thoughts: I hope I can find away to fix this problem but it will be difficult to do without any support. I am slighlty worried this board is DOA. Never seen anything quite like this. I have seen a lot of people with similar problems through Toms hardware.

1 out of 5 eggsThe worst customer service ever

Pros: Wouldn't really know. Most others seem to like it.

Cons: 1) See below for details.
2) Basically, it arrived DOA.
3) Newegg no longer accepts the product back; instead, customer is forced to deal directly with ASUS (see below for details).
4) ASUS actually requires a copy of your driver's license (front and back), as well as a copy of your credit card (front and back) before they will agree to fix it. I seriously thought that I was being scammed by a hacker when I got that demand.

Other Thoughts: So here is what happened:
1) Arrived DOA. But no obvious physical defects in the MBO.
2) Swapped out power units, graphics cards, other cards, etc. No luck.
3) I tried really hard to put everything back in the box nicely, but (and I freely acknowledge the following) it is likely that I bent some pins in the process.
4) ASUS insisted that the MBO was beyond repair, and the reason it didn't work was the bent pins. Of course, since they weren't bent when I got it, that couldn't be true.
5) They offered to replace it (new unit) for about 2/3 of what I paid for it. I agreed.
6) That's when they sent (by email) requests for all of "proof" that my credit card was valid.
7) I provided them the proof, but heard nothing back from them for 1 month.
8) Then I got an email saying they were returning the worthless board because they had not heard from me!
9) While it is true that I never called them on the phone, I did take the time to fill out an email customer satisfaction survey that they sent me. Needless to say, it was not a favorable survey. Nobody at ASUS followed up on my complaints.
10) Previously, dating back almost 10 years, I have been a big fan of ASUS products. No more. While this is the first time I have had an issue, the whole experience has soured me on the company. Even if the chance of a problem is 10%, it really isn't worth taking the chance.
11) I am serious when I say that the customer service that I experienced from ASUS is the absolute worst of any company in any field, even notoriously bad cable companies. If you are skeptical, see a somewhat similar review of another ASUS MBO on this same website.
12) I tried to post an earlier review, albeit written after consuming several alcoholic beverages, but it was rejected. I hope that this one goes through.
13) I seriously doubt that other companies would tolerate these issues.

1 out of 5 eggsExpensive Paper weight

Pros: May well be an excellent board. I just never got to use it.
The company building my PC for me found a missing pin in the CPU socket. They tried to make it work anyway without success. We found out from Newegg and Asus would not have mattered anyway. Neither company warranty covers the CPU pins. The board was RMAd to Asus and they confirmed that it would be an out of warranty repair for more than half the cost of the board purchased new.
I have made other purchases from Newegg but will never again buy another Mobo from them.

Cons: Product warranty that does not cover the entire product.

Other Thoughts: I have found two other companies to buy from that honor the warranties and have better return policies.

1 out of 5 eggsOne year later...

Pros: - It looked nice.
- It had decent features compared to other boards.

Cons: - Broke after one year, Asus asked for $120 to fix it.

- Incredibly over priced for what you get. You end up paying for all the R&D that ASUS spends on stuff like AI Suite and ROG Supreme FX audio. Which is just a Realtek audio codec with a fancy name. AI Suite is the slowed lamest piece of software I ever used.

- The PCI lanes are mind boggling. I pay over $200 and all I get is the x16 3.0 lane supported by the Z87 chipset, and only half of the 2.0 lanes supported by Z87? Where the heck is the other 4 lanes?

Other Thoughts: Sent away for an RMA, Asus emails me asking for $120 dollars to fix it. $120 to fix a 1 year old $210 motherboard. I'm not about to put over $330 into a already over priced Sh!tfest. Get real ASUS.

5 out of 5 eggsOne of the best motherboards!

Pros: The motherboard has LEDs which gives an awesome look for a transparent side-panel case. The performance is spectacular! Easy installation, and is compatible with many products.

Cons: Red LED color can't be changed :[

Other Thoughts: The motherboard is overall great, I don't know what else I could've bought.
