5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mobo

Pros: What a great board. I am so happy I got to pick up this board before it sold out! There is a newer version out, if you are currently in the market, Maximus Hero boards have a great layout and the build just worked. I had one mishap which was easily resolved due to the fact that the error screen on the mobo told me exactly what was wrong.

BIOS is SUPER easy. Seriously, a 10 year old could figure out how to customize BIOS - it is straight forward and very user friendly.

Cons: None so far.

2 out of 5 eggsUnsure if mine was defective, or....

Pros: Looks nice. Easy to install things on. The red LEDs are super classy. Easy to match colors other than red with because of the black.

Cons: I'm not sure if mine was defective or what, I've had to pull the CMOS battery numerous times within a week of the finished build to get the system to boot properly. It would sit at the BIOS splash screen and not boot. Stupid frustrating.

Other Thoughts: Overall it is a nice board and it would be nice if it wasn't so bonkers. Got fed up with the post issues and just got a Hero VII (much better board IMO)

Cons: 4790 k did not work for me after I told them tuts the cpu I'm using they are sending me bad mobos there return time is half a month and they keep spelling my name wrong. 5 out of 5 eggsAwesome board

Pros: The BIOS is amazing when it comes to customizing your system. So many options but you don't feel lost in it at all. Everything was intuitive for me, and took me no time at all to overclock.

Cons: The option to allow for virtualization was turned off by default. I don't know why that is, but it was the case. I had to activate it before I was able to get VirtualBox (or other software) running. Thankfully, VirtualBox had a helpful enough error message that revealed what the problem was so I wasn't spending days hunting down the root issue.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent motherboard

Pros: Built my first PC using this motherboard, and it's really awesome. Packaged nicely, and the motherboard looks really nice with it's red and black theme. Got it on sale, so it was really worth the price. Been using it for a week with no problems whatsoever. Running it with a Intel G3258 and GTX 960, it's blazing fast.

Cons: Not free.

2 out of 5 eggsDead Motherboard after almost 2 years

Pros: It worked for a long time! It was great, and it comes with all the bells and whistles.

Cons: Their support, or at least today anyway, is just AWEFUL. I've been on the phone all day trying to contact someone in their support. Every time the call goes through it just goes silent. It's almost like the staff is avoiding calls today.

Today my computer rebooted for a Windows 8.1 update. Upon restart the motherboard entered a irog1 update. To my knowledge I didn't install in bios updates. So i'm not sure why it attempted to update the bios. I mean, it is possible one of the windows updates attempted to update it. Although, I doubt it.

1) I'm frustrated with their support
2) from what i've read online newer BIOS updates for this board are faulty. I believe I was on 1100~ bios revision. They're at 1600 now. How can they get 5-10 updates in and this not happen? Beats me.

I've contacted support in more than one way. I hope someone answers my call as I would like to think their support is as decent as their brand.

3 out of 5 eggsCreative X-Fi sound card refuses to be recognized by windows 7

Pros: So far so good! Except for sound.

Cons: I do not want to use the motherboard sound but instead my Creative sound card. It will absolutely not get listed in the device manager no matter what I have tried. I have turned disabling fast boot on in the BIOS, hanging out there for a while and then reboot, and that suggestion I found from Googling for a couple hours does not work.

2 out of 5 eggsIs ok but dead slots

Pros: BIOS interface is cool and works great. Has some neat auto-overlock features as well as a fast boot feature. Bios has an advanced and simple interface. Red lights look cool when it's running as well.

Cons: A1 and A2 memory slots will not work. Using G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800). Either stick will work only on B1 or B2, or both sticks on both. Regardless of combination, if using A1 or A2, it wont post and throws error 55. I researched to find this is somewhat common. Some attribute it to bent CPU pin or an unevenly attached heatsink. When I use slot B1/B2, it posts fine and I even loaded O/S already. So, not a bent cpu pin. Returning this is to much of a hassle since I did manage to get it running.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Looks cool

Cons: There is nothing more frustrating then putting together all the parts of a new gaming machine and running into a complete DOA board. I understand things like this happen just sucks when it happens to you. I am planning on just asking for a refund and trying my luck with a new purchase of the same mobo. Would be great if I was somehow compensated for the shipping.
