TUF stands for The Ultimate Force. The TUF series delivers a “tough” image. With a unique design and high-quality components (military-standard), the TUF series is born for pursuing preeminent stability, all-round compatibility, and extreme durability.

Start with the ultimate cooling solution, which combines TUF Thermal Armor for total airflow-boosting heat dissipation, and TUF Thermal Radar for real time temp detection and heat removal. The military-standard TUF Components, such as Choke, Cap. and MOSFET, enable rock solid stability even under heavy duty or severe environments. New DIGI+ Power Control presents an all-new precise digital power control for CPU, iGPU and DRAM for better efficiency and overclocking margin. More features like UEFI BIOS for full-scale performance tuning with easy BIOS Interface, USB 3.0 Boost technology, network iControl for real-time bandwidth control and USB BIOS Flashback for easy, worry-free BIOS update or recovery guarantee an incredible performance, easy functionality tweaking, and effortless system maintenance. The LucidLogix Virtu MVP enables up to a 60% hybrid graphics boost while the SLI and CrossFireX support in combination with the PCIe 3.0 capabilities push the graphics performance to a new level to bring you a brand new gaming experience.

  • newegg "Ultimate COOL!" Thermal Solution New generation Thermal Armor boosts cooling with dual turbo fans, enhancing the original TUF thermal design and helping direct hot air away from components and the motherboard via smart shunt funneling. It covers the entire board with more powerful airflow, and uses special heat pipes to expedite thermal removal and make sure temperatures stay low. The dedicated I/O cover fan draws additional cold air in and expels even more heat for improved stability, plus special convection holes in the PCB facilitates underside airflow. Thermal Radar monitors temperatures in critical parts of the board, automatically adjusting fan speeds for better system stability. Fan Overtime keeps fans working in critical minutes post shutdown to extend component lifespan, dropping temperatures by 45°F in just ten minutes after the computer turns off. New Fan Off consists of a switch that disables fans should temperatures drop below a manually or automatically set level for effective power consumption.
  • newegg TUF Components (Choke, Cap. and MOSFET; Certified by Military-Standard) Get rugged performance even in the most challenging conditions with robust TUF chokes, solid capacitors, and MOSFETs--certified through third-party, military-grade testing. TUF Choke, also known as the “Alloy Choke”, is made of a compound of various types of metal instead of standard iron, enabling the support of up to a massive 40A of rated current, 25% higher than conventional components. Furthermore, the single piece packaging also eliminates the emission of vibration noise, delivering superb characteristics as well as durability under extreme conditions.
  • newegg New DIGI+ Power Control New DIGI+ Power Control includes multiple digital voltage controllers, allowing ultra-precise modulation and tuning for CPU, iGPU, and DRAM. This innovative and industry-leading ASUS technology provides an extremely accurate voltage tuning for better efficiency, stability, and performance. With the next generation Intel VRD 12.5 future power design, CPU wattage can be decreased by half, creating a cooler and quieter PC. This innovation of industry-leading ASUS technology provides the smartest control for better power saving scenarios.
  • newegg LucidLogix Virtu MVP LucidLogix Virtu MVP featuring HyperFormance Technology boosts your discrete graphics card up to 60% beyond its original performance through the test of 3DMark Vantage. Designed for Intel processor graphics and Windows 7 PCs, it perfectly combines the performance of discrete graphics cards with fast computing iGPU. Also with the newly designed Virtual Sync, users can enjoy a smoother gaming experience by eliminating tearing artifacts. LucidLogix Virtu MVP could also dynamically assign tasks to the best available graphics resource, based on power, performance and system load. This allows users to fully utilize three times faster video conversion with Intel Quick Sync Video technology while retaining high-end 3D rendering and gaming performance, provided by both NVIDIA and AMD graphic cards. When the discrete graphics card is not required, power consumption goes automatically down to near zero, making the system more environmentally-friendly.
  • newegg Intel Smart Response Technology Intel Smart Response Technology boosts overall system performance. It uses an installed fast SSD (min 18.6GB available capacity required) as a cache for frequently accessed data. Key benefits include reduced load and wait times, and lower power consumption through the elimination of unnecessary hard drive spin. This technology combines SSD performance with hard drive capacity, operating up to six times faster than a hard drive-only system.
  • newegg SLI and CrossFireX Support SABERTOOTH Z77 brings you the multi-GPU choice of either SLI or CrossFireX. The motherboard features the most powerful Intel Z77 platform to optimize PCIe allocation in multiple GPU configurations. Expect a brand-new gaming style you’ve never experienced before!

5 out of 5 eggsASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Amazing board! 3 1/2 years later its still running strong! Multiple arrays on it, never had a problem that wasn't solved within minutes. Couldnt be happier with it!! The thermal armor works so well for cooling the board! Get this board, whatever generation it may be in at the time!

Cons: One of the accessory fans started to buzz after 2+ years. Oh darn. Surprised it lasted that long. Time to put the nice badge back on!

5 out of 5 eggsAsus Sabertooth

Pros: Board install easily into my Thermaltake Chaser II case. installed an intel 3770k cpu, 32gb of Corsair 1600 ram which was on sale @NewEgg for $150. runnig a Evga 650TI vide card (for now). Also went with a Thermaltake water cooler extreme 2.0. Haven't OCed it yet but plan too. Cable managment was exellent with this set up. also running 4 Segate 1Tb 7200rpm, 64mb cache, drives setup in RAID 10. All purchased here. Except for the Thermaltake Black Widow 850W PSU.

Cons: None to speak of yet, but haven't pushed it yet. It runs everthing so well I haven't had a need to. since I went with the 3770k cpu and water cooled it I have to push it.
will update

Other Thoughts: UPDATE; as promised: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 LGA 1155
Still running strong, I usually upgrade every couple years but no need to with this set up. board is excellent, I generally upgrade every couple years so I can cut cost by doing a few parts at a time. Well now an upgrade would require a new MB and CPU so its not really needed yet. Going to a new Gen MB to accept a 4670k or better CPU simply isn't a good choice for me when comparing the performance gains against the cost of a new higher end MB. I know my rig is not the latest and greatest now but after running it a couple years I have nothing negative to say about it at all... running it at 4.2 to 4.5 with turbo boost. The memory helped me to remain stable up to 4.5Ghz +/- with no over-volting, with the Thermaltake Water Cooler Extreme 2.0 keeping the CPU at 27C - 42C max under load. Leads me to believe it'll last a while.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Having used low end motherboards all my life, this one was a pleasure to work with. Feels solid, nothing jagged. Still doing it's job 3 years later.

Cons: I've never had a bad experience with an Asus Motherboard and this one was no exception.

Other Thoughts: It's weird that Windows 7 doesn't have the NIC drivers for this one. Have to install them from the disc, which worked fine.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent board!

Pros: Easy setup, lots of fan plugs, bios very simple to setup and update!

Cons: Non at all!

Other Thoughts: Board developed a serious problem after 3.5 years so I requested an RMA and shipped it out.

The RMA process with Asus was flawless from start to finish! Only took 14 days from the time I shipped it out until it was back in my hands. If I had not purchased a board with a 5 year warranty, it would have been junk!

It also gave me an excuse to upgrade my system to the newer version Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1 which I am completely satisfied with!

1 out of 5 eggsgood for 1 year

Pros: Thermal Radar is great(controls how loud/cool your pc gets without extra$$$).... everything else in ai suite is "ok".
Solid built...

Cons: RELIABILITY(the reason you pay 250$)
onboard sound failed after 1.5 years
one usb header needs to be reseated every once a week to be recognized... Its not permanent broken
Same goes for 2 sata ports i connect one of my 2tb hdd
Memory runs at 1333mhz after "mem ok" is pressed. Any attempt to change it to 1600native( with defaults in bios and bios updated), is a no go... this is after 2 yrs. both other 2 pc's i have will run those mem sticks at 1600 just fine

Other Thoughts: So i sent it in for repair stating all symptoms, RMA USPC5A3614, and it came back with the sound fixed.
THAT'S IT!! Only the sound.
I called in, somebody told me there's no note for any other repair then the sound.
Does it worth the hassle (call in, wait, argue, take pc apart assuming you can, pay shipping)? If somebody bends a socket pin in the process all is lost.... if that would've happened on a 85$ asrock ultra pro 3 with similar features i would've been fine... i spent a lot of money in the hope i would not have to open that pc case every other week
I've never had motherboards failing
Done with asus
No more premium prices

5 out of 5 eggsSABERTOOTH Z77

Pros: Love it. # years on, it still feels fast and more than adequate. Liquid cooled i7 over 4.5GHZ, and it never, and I mean never freezes or locks. My PC goes for months between reboots, and I only do it then for critical Windows updates.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: I love it, best experience in all my years of building my own high performance PC.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat board

Pros: Easy plug in. Doesn't feel too delicate, so I felt more confident handling the board. Awesome control systems for monitoring temp/overclocking etc... Works great with my selected components.

Cons: Mini-fan failed on me. My system, with a SSD, is very quiet, even gaming. When one of the 30mm fans failed on the board recently, it made an aweful racket, that scared me out of my seat. I couldn't find replacement fans from ASUS, so I tried aftermarket. Nothing with an exact match, so rather than have issues with a push-pull flow, I left it off. No issues otherwise.

Other Thoughts: I would suggest to ASUS that if they supplie hardware that CAN fail, they should offer some way of getting replacement parts for that hardware. They have a great lack of replacement equipment on their website.
