4 out of 5 eggsReally nice board but Marvell Sara Ports are defective

Pros: Strong manual/ auto overclocking features. 10 USB 3 ports. Free Antivirus included. UEFI Bios.

Cons: Marvell SATA 3 Ports are defective! No hard drives will work on them. Sending my board for RMA.

3 out of 5 eggsHad it for a couple years

Pros: Does Everything! Plenty of ports, Does what I needed it to do. Best Board on the market when I bought it.

Cons: Constant Issue with USB Ports. Most of them Don't work, 2 on the back and the 2 on the front of my case do. Which is great because I have 4 peripherals (mouse, Keyboard, Headset, and Foot pedal) plugged in at all times. Trouble is that I have to unplug something to use a flash drive, or my printer. Now I need more ports for other peripherals and they don't work.

Other Thoughts: I actually came on to find a replacement board, and noticed the other comments. I have tried downloading the bios updates and changing settings in device manager. This has really turned me off to Asus Products, especially now that I see there are so many others with this issue and no fix has been created.

3 out of 5 eggsEhh...

Pros: Exactly what I wanted, the bios is best bios utility I have come across on a motherboard yet.

Cons: USB ports shut occasionally, you have to unplug power cord and wait 10 seconds for power drain then reboot and they work again. (usually happens once a week or so)
The sata plugs are facing sideways on board. In most cases probably wouldn't have been a big deal. if you are purchasing this board make sure you have a big case because plugging in the sata connections may be tough. Mine was located right next to the harddrive bays and was a pain to get plugged in

Other Thoughts: Would have been good board if it didn't have USB problems

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that you are having an issue with your USB ports. Have you tried updating to the latest bios and update your windows updates as well.

Here is a link below. Looks like the bios fixes the compatibility issues.
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_IV_EXTREMEZ/#support_Download_30

Also, try going into your power options and disable USB to suspend ports to save power. Also, you can try going into device manager as well and uncheck the box similar.

If you have any yellow exclamations, please try updating the drivers or rolling back.

If you have any questions or comments you can email me at cl-jeffrey@asus.com which I reside in the U.S

ASUS strives to meet and exceeds our customer expectations within our warranty policy.

Regards,

Jeffrey

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing mean looking board

Pros: Big and beautiful looking board. looks mean, plenty of ports, configurations, features, power pins, options

Cons: no onboard hdmi input not that you would use it since most likely your gonna put a high end graphics card but would be nice for test purposes

Other Thoughts: after an onboard update it is also capable for ivy bridge cpu's

5 out of 5 eggsExtreme-Z

Pros: I have had this motherboard for well over two years now and I haven't had any issues with it. I have not tried to overclock with it yet just because, I have no need to overclock yet but it is still going perfectly strong, still doesn't have a spec of dust on it. Black ops 2, Battlefield 3, Starcraft II, Dota 2, every game I run on it, champ.

Cons: Free pizza next time?

3 out of 5 eggsCrashs, USB ports not working

Pros: When it runs it runs well. Like the OC software...

Cons: I have had many times where it will crash during boot, also have had many issues where it will lock up after the OS is loaded. Also, had problems with USB ports not working, having to switch my mouse and keyboard to others to get them to work - seems to be random. Also had situations where the power switch would not work - had to use the button on the board itself to boot. This is also random.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We're sorry to hear about your experience with the motherboard. Please try to flash to the latest BIOS which may improved system stability and enhance compatibility with some USB devices. After BIOS flash completes, enter UEFI and press F5 to load defaults, save and exit. Please check if the issues mentioned persists. Do not overclock at this time until the system is stable. 1 out of 5 eggsBad

Pros: It was good when it work.

Cons: The board began to lose it's USB 3.0 and immediately started to messed up. Then the PCI-E lanes went full ret'rd and gave out. I switch to all 4 lanes to no avail! This is definitely not top of the line at all. I pay the premium price to get low standard card. POST LED went brain dead as well. No point in RMA to Asus you will get the standard "you bent your CPU pins zomg no!" line. Bottom line no. Go with EVGA or something else.

3 out of 5 eggsAmazing.. when it works.

Pros: Overall great specs.

Cons: The USBs are terrible.. Two different boards and neither of them had working USBs. Both times the USBs kept going off for weeks at a time randomly then starts to work again. Slightly after that another couple of slots stop working. -2 eggs for the terrible support and quality. Something this expensive should not take a few replacements to get a working one.

Other Thoughts: I highly recommend to not buy this product. The customer service was terrible and not worth the risk. Since I have had mine for probably around 9 months now I doubt there is anything besides buy another brands board once these USB slots go out for good. I knew I should of gone EVGA.

Cons: wish the red LED's were blue. no biggie.
