5 out of 5 eggsExcellent!

Pros: I've been in the market to build a new gaming rig for some time now, and I only had a limited budget to work with. After reading a lot of reviews (and finding this on sale), I was really happy to see this board fell into my price range. The features are amazing, and exactly what I was looking for. I've been an MSI fan for some time now, and I've only had good performance from any of their products.

After putting everything together, the moment of truth came when I powered it on the first time. Everything worked from the start and the new BIOS came up immediately. I couldn't be more than pleased! After having built dozen of computers, I thought there might be some hurdles to work through. I was wrong! The board registered everything correctly, and installing updated drivers were a breeze. The installation disks were very intuitive and easy to follow. The BIOS also made flashing to newer versions a very easy process.

Overclocking - I haven't had an opportunity to do this yet, so I can't comment until I get my hands in there this weekend and start playing around. From what I've seen of the BIOS and the associated MSI software, this should be pretty easy as well.

Cooling - I was able to put a Coolermaster 212 Evo on the board with minor frustrating effort, which is only frustration on the cooler's part, and has nothing to do with the board design. The stock fan will need to be moved to pull air instead of pushing it if you want to utilize all for memory slots. The stock configuration uses slots 2 and 4 if you only have to sticks, so that made plenty of room for me right now.

MSI Z87-G45 Motherboard
Intel i5- 4670K
Coolermaster 212 Evo
G.Skill Trident X 2400mhz 16GB (2x8)
WD Velociraptor 500 GB 10,0000 RPM
Corsair Enthusiast TX850 power supply

Cons: None at the moment.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great - Finally

Pros: Seems to be well build (had to write something so that this review can be published).

Cons: Touchy on BIOS updates. Be careful in inserting the CPU!

Other Thoughts: Had wake-up problems. Only one of the MSI techs knew how to solve it. But, once solved, the system runs great!

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -Solid BIOS GUI
-Quick OC utility
-Easy to OC with
-PCI-E slots spaced far apart enough to SLI video cards with thick coolers
-Good onboard audio
-Can save multiple OC profiles

Cons: -First board I got was DOA

Other Thoughts: The turnaround time for replacing my DOA board was about four days. Very happy about that.

The lights on the mobo look somewhat cool

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board

Pros: First solo build. I got this board on somewhat of an impulse. I wanted to be sure I could piece a motherboard together before I moved on to buying really expensive high end gaming hardware. The handbook was easy to read and I had everything installed in about 20 mins. The installation CD saves A LOT of time. It automatically installed .Net Framework 4.0 for me and Google Chrome

Cons: None, as of yet.

Other Thoughts: They really ding your wallet on shipping and taxing. A 155 dollar board turned into a 170 dollar board. However, that really has nothing to do with the board itself so there's no reason to downrate it any. I had no problem with this board what so ever that I expected to have from other reviews. If this board holds up with what I plan to throw at it in the future I will deferentially be buying from MSI again.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The board comes with great specifications for the price

Cons: Dead on arrival, the computer starts up but no display from the MB, or even a pci-e card, theres no power going into USB's and PS/2, doesn't go into the splash screen nothing just stays on. I have never had a DOA motherboard, doing an RMA hopefully i get one that WORKS if it doesn't im just going to get an ASUS since i've never hard any problems with them.

Other Thoughts: Although the specifications of this board and the price is really good, your best bet is to avoid DOA is read the reviews of other people since the majority have had DOA

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great features at mid range price

Cons: Motherboard arivied DOA. Durring testing would not post and no power to pcie slot. Reseated cpu/cooler still same results. Would not recognize my cpu which has been verified to be functional. Im guessing bad socket which is very dissapointing to me. I would think a company like MSI would have better quality contoll. I also have a MSI video card and im regretting choising their products. Im currently going through a RMA with newegg and it could be weeks untill I get a new board and finish my build

Other Thoughts: Stay away from msi for motherboards, at least their gaming series. Seems a lot of other people have also had socket issues with these boards. I will update this after my rma process with newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great so far

Pros: List of features
Very nice looking UEFI
1 click overclock for noobs
Everything worked perfectly on first install, no complaints

Cons: Integrated heatsinks were loose upon arrival. Tighten them up before you put them in your case.

Other Thoughts: I'm a beginner when it comes to building a PC so I can't give a completely in-depth review. So far, everything is running perfectly and I have no complaints. I would however mention not to completely trust the 1-click overclock for a long term overclock. It always gives me weird voltages in comparison to the ratios I'm trying.

5 out of 5 eggsGamer board % badge

Pros: With 4 USB 3.0 and 4 USB 2.0 sockets plus 2 USB 2.0 mouse/keyboard,,, Fan headers are all four pin can use 3 pin fans too. PCIE 2.0 =3 slot. I use one PCIE .3.0 @ 16x.
Corsair water cooled cpu fits nice. Very nice board arrangement everything has room!

Cons: The driver package has some legacy support items; Avoid them if you can.

Other Thoughts: Everything works as described in the install book. My experience with this board is very good one. Recommend it for gaming and any other home use. Use XMP settings but nothing else overclocked.
