5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Intel Rapid Storage.....need I say more?
This board has ran solid with no issues whatsoever for a year.
The temperature monitoring is second to none.
Drivers are being released regularly.
Not sure what all the fuss is about with the bad reviews this board has gotten. This board has tons of features and is not for a rookie system builder.
Been running Battlefield 3 and Black ops 2 on full settings.
Thanks Intel for this great board.

Cons: It doesnt dispense Jagermeister.

Other Thoughts: If you have built a gaming rig before, get it.

1 out of 5 eggsWill Not boot

Pros: Non so far

Cons: Will not boot. Continues to get an error 15. I researched the issue and figured out it had to due with the bios having issues with newer intel processors so I purchased an older processor and got it boot one time and installed bios ver 39. Now it will no longer boot after 20 or more attempts. Now I have 4 junk boards that won't work with anything!

Other Thoughts: Horrible product with no helpful support from intel.

4 out of 5 eggsINTEL WUT?

Pros: good board over all. But will not suggest this board to anyone or buy another intel board again b/c of the vast about of problems I heard on the bios and intel support on ram. Who would have more supprot for the 3rd generation and not the 2nd generation chips for a z68?

Cons: no much versatility between chips, staying at bios 28 a lot of tweaking, I bought this based on the ratings but noticed after people was having a problems with ram. I just set the xmp profile to 1600 no problems for me but I did not hear of any one getting any stable ram higher then 1600. also cannot get a high overclock and think the overclock assistant is junk on this board not stable at all. manual settings ok @ 4.2

Other Thoughts: my build
2600k
1600 gskill pc3 12800 16gb
evga 1gb video 560ti
hyper 212 evo (fan touches ram)
750w psu

2 out of 5 eggsAlmost there

Pros: Almost works like a motherboard should

Cons: Extraordinarily annoying problem with on board LAN adapter. Board will not see the adapter from power on. But will see it from reboot. Extremely poor design. Intel offers no help on this at all.

Other Thoughts: Kicking myself in the you know what for not going with an ASUS. Unless you want to spend an additional amount on an external LAN card, stay away from this board.

2 out of 5 eggsNot recommended

Pros: Z77 capable
Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST)
* On paper it looks good *

Cons: Tempermental ang bug laden.
- RAID detection was 95% i.e. failed to boot 5%
- Detection and use of other RAID controllers tempermental
- Inconsistent problems with boot order using PCIe card

Other Thoughts: Here is the story on my review...

The board worked, most of the time with the RST and became more tolerable after v.0037 BIOS upgrade. However, it was still temperamental with cards in the PCI or PCIe slots, including video cards. I had problems with this board recognizing the following: two PNY Quadro 1800's, a Zotac 610, and an LSI 8201 RAID controller.

What is even more dissappointing is the chipset improperly identifying sata HDs attached directly to the board themselves.

I have contacted Intel regarding some of the afformentioned issues and were helpful... to an extent (pull the battery and clear CMOS), but I don't believe that this should be a standard practice for the end user to keep there machine going.

Maybe if they would work on removing the bugs from their BIOS they would get a better review, but as it stands I believe that I am quite generous with 2 eggs!

2 out of 5 eggsokay motherboard but has issues

Pros: Great motherboard setup. Overall runs really well.

Cons: This says it is compatible with ivy bridge. It even says so on intels website. This thing is not out of the box compatible. You must update the bios before it is compatible. This means you have to have a sandy bridge cpu. I was lucky enough to have a friend who was doing a build at the same time as me and loaned me his sandy bridge.

3 out of 5 eggsFair Warning

Pros: Intel brand. Version 028 good for 2nd gen CPU, lots of features, stable, nice skull.

Cons: There are issues with XMP standards, and the Intel website documents qualified memory types through CMTL test agency. CMTL then states that XMP-1600 memory only works with 3rd gen CPU. How disappointing, the memory worked for v029 bios, update to 037 still no 1600 support. Even though it worked before.

Community support forums on Intel are full of other who are restricted from using 1600 memory on 2nd gen CPU. Haven't tried the 3rd gen, can't seem dumping more money into a retroactive repair. Once a above the 028 bios, the product is not downgradable. I cannot fix the problem Intel's newer technology support somehow created.

Other Thoughts: I waited many months before I chose this board, thinking that any bugs would have been worked out. I guess it's becoming fairly obvious to me that America is becoming the New China. Been waiting for a fix to address the memory issue, I'm not holding my breath. Not after a tech told me 10/18/2012 that the board does not support 1600 memory. Product specs are all over the table...

3 out of 5 eggsBeware 3rd Generation Processor / BIOS Issue

Pros: Seems to run well and fast. Cute skull with eyes. Plenty of room to work; however ...

Cons: More problems than any other computer build that I have done. I should have read the "one eggers". I had a 3rd generation processor (i5-3570K). The board that I got had older BIOS on it and with the first startup I hear repetitive 3 beeps. Looked this up ... memory problem ... placed "known" good memory in the slots ... 3 beeps persisted. In fact the BIOS do need an upgrade before it will boot with a 3rd generation processor (i5-3570K). Fortunately I had a first generation processor and got the machine started to upgrade the BIOS. No problems after that.

Other Thoughts: Make sure that you have an older processor to start the machine and upgrade the BIOS, then you can replace the processor.

2 out of 5 eggsThese are turning out to be a PITA.

Pros: Specs are nice.

Cons: This is the 6th one of these I have bought. Of the other 5, one of them has been sent back after a month of use. There are compatibility problems with blackmagic video cards. This board will install almost all the way and then crash.

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend this board to anyone.
