5 out of 5 eggsGreat product works as intended

Pros: Bought this in order to be able to transfer data from my old SATA drive to my new one without having to set it up as an internal drive.
SATA power and connector to USB worked flawlessly.
Power switch on the adapter is nice for stopping power to the drive without having to disconnect the adapter from the outlet.
Blue LED on the USB adapter shows when it is powered on and also green LED on the power adapter shows when it is plugged into a working outlet.
Windows 8.1 detected the drive immediately.
Transfer rate is good for moving files (supports only USB 2.0).
There are two rubber wrappers that can be used to protect the drivers (2.5" and 3.5")

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: -Would be nice if it was USB 3.0 compatible.
-Have not tried the IDE connectors on the adapter.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat tool

Pros: -Enabled me to pull data off old hard drives for family members.
-Fast

Cons: -When I turned the unit off and switch hard drives it registered it has the first hard drive. All the indexing was there just would not let me access the files. I had to restart my computer to clear the first drive. It didn't do this after that. I tried it with four more drives and they all work fine.

Other Thoughts: Great tool. You should get one.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: If you work on computers and don't have one of these, stop reading this and order now!

Cons: I don't know if this is a con, per se, but this is my second one that I just bought. The first served me for a couple of years but computers would stop recognizing drives with the old adapter.

5 out of 5 eggsBe careful with the power connector

Pros: Does what it is supposed to do. Simple product, works well out of the box.

Cons: Be careful with that soft rubber molex power connector, it is very easy to plug in the connector backwards, which will result in frying the drive. After frying one I will be much more careful with other drives.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: My external HD could not be read through the USB connected enclosure it was encased in. I removed the HD from the enclosure and connected it through the adapter and everything showed up great. I was able to save my data to a new internal HD I installed. I thought maybe I had lost my data. Turns out the circuit board on the inside of the HD enclosure that the HD was connected to went bad. Great tool to have when needed!

4 out of 5 eggsWorks with Win7/8x/ Server 2012 R2

Pros: I build "hackintoshes" - Intel CPU/ Gigabyte MB. Most recent MBs no longer have a PATA connector, but the PATA drives can be useful as Time Machine backup storage device. But OS X wantes "to see" SATA drives, so I use this adapter to confirm older PATA drives are useable - I like Samsung- scrounged from HP/Dells. I can then use the SYBA (IDE to SATA) adapter (Newegg N82E16812186078) to make the PATA drive to appear as SATA. So free drive + $11 for the SYBA and I'm "good to go" for backup storage - although admittedly not that fast.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I've confirmed that the adapter works with Win7/8x and Server 2012 R2. Also the drive appears as external USB drive in OS X - and with SYBA (IDE to SATA) adapter (Newegg N82E16812186078) as an internal SATA drive.

5 out of 5 eggsMust-have item for us geeks

Pros: Quick and effective. Power cord has a convenient on/off switch and two integrated plugs to fit both SATA and IDE drives. Rubber protection cases for both 2.5" and 3.5" drives are a handy extra.

Cons: Can't think of any negatives

Other Thoughts: I am using this right now to prepare a 2.5" SATA HDD for my spare laptop.
