Pros: price is right

Cons: On sale, this scanner was the best price to performance. However, upon installation we found that the Xerox scanner took much longer to warm up to the first page than other scanners in our clinic, the TWAIN driver was buggy, it would inconsistently lock up scanning after 2-4 pages. When the scanner locked up it would also lock up the computer it was attached to, forcing a reboot. It worked OK when we used Acrobat to do the scanning and document generation, hence the 2 stars. We had to return the Xerox/Visioneer to Newegg.com. RMA was obtained and the return process was flawless. Fantastic customer service with Newegg.com. We have 2 other brands of document scanner. We use these extensively in our clinic for Electronic Medical Records. They are all used heavily on daily basis.

Pros: Fast, Twain compatible, ADF works well (no jams or double feeds yet). Scans look good.

Cons: Onetouch interface a bit clunky, not very intuitive, takes getting used to. Lots of unnecessary and system clogging bloatware that I couldn't wait to uninstall. Grayscale and color scans result in very large pdf files, even at lower resolutions (no file compression?)

Overall Review: That pretty much covers it. My first one was a dud, the scanning mechanism sounded like something was broken inside and the scans were a garbled mess, but the second one works quite well, so I'm writing it up as a fluke. I am getting it to replace a Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 that I love and still think is a slightly better more refined product, but I needed the TWAIN capability. Why, Fujitsu, would you leave out such an important feature? Anyhow my only remaining pet peeve to what otherwise seems a solid scanner now are the file sizes. A one page color document at 200 dpi should not produce a 5MB pdf I think. The Fujitsu's sofware has compression that results in much smaller pdf files that do not look any different to my untrained eye. No compression choices here that I can see. Straight B&W documents are quite small however, and at 200 dpi or lower it just tears through a stack at high speeds. Nice.

Pros: Great speed, paper jams rarely occur.

Cons: Price? But considering this printer compared to similar models, the price here is not bad.

Overall Review: We only use a third party software, so can't comment on the software that comes with the scanner. Would definitely recommend this scanner to those that need a quick scan and few hassles.

Pros: Fast, Twain compatible.

Cons: Comes with lots of bloatware, some that require you to purchase a license to download current driver. That was annoying. But the real problem here was the scanner didn't work. Unless I scanned a document at 400 dpi or higher (very very slow) the end result was garbled black lines with only a hint of the document I was scanning. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling current drivers, tried different computers...same result. The Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 is a far superior product in my opinion. Only it isn't TWAIN compatible, and thats a shame. Already RMA'd the Xerox, hopefully the next one will work.

Pros: Duplex Scanning Fast Decent Document Load One Touch Preset for Simplex and Duplex ISIS Driver Kofax VRS Scan quality is fantastic. (I get small clear grayscale docs with great OCR at 300dpi and less than 500kb.)

Cons: No Mac drivers included* (there are Mac drivers available though from a 3rd Party) Software is pretty weak for this market segment I honestly don't have any problem whatsoever with this scanner but those are cons some other people might have. For the price (newegg sale $300 less than Amz) these cons do not matter as you could resolve any of them for less than the additional cost required to go with Fujitsu.

Overall Review: This scanner is great. The DocuMate 162 comes with an ISIS driver. Works flawlessly with Acrobat Pro 9.3 and Abbyy Finereader 10 Corp. Unless others received lemons chalk up anything less than 5 stars as user error. The included software is both good and bad. Omnipage is bad IMO. Paperport is bad. The OneTouch software is great (requires that you install PP) and provides the DocuMates with better scanning options than ScanSnaps. You can set 9 scanning options for the OneTouch system simplex and duplex buttons - 18 presets altogether. I have these setup to scan straight to OCR'd pdf and store with set filename. Other options will send the scan to whatever app you like. You have to install PP, Omni, drivers and VRS(get updates to4.5) before OneTouch. For Mac Drivers - ExactScan has TWAIN drivers for this scanner that work with any Mac scanning apps. ExactScan is included in DevonThink Pro Office or for sale on its own. DevonThink is great and education discounts are available.

Pros: Small footprint. Fast Scans. I have been using the one touch interface to scan directly to .pdf or for OCR and it is simple. Great scanner - with $200 off promo code - this is a good deal.

Overall Review: There are several software programs included to help you scan some were easier than others and the only limited help is in the e-manual. I found the one touch the simplest.

Pros: Works great in my insurance agency environment. We've just started the change to a paperless environment and this scanner is working well. We don't use the included software as our agency management system uses it's own proprietary software. Very pleased so far.

Cons: None yet.

Pros: Fast Scanner, works in Windows 7 64 bit, small, portable, very well priced when on sale at NewEgg

Cons: Outdated, or older versions of software, including some bloat and limited use trial ware and un-upgradable oem ware.

Overall Review: Great buy at NewEgg sale price, provided you bring your own software.
