Industry's highest capacity nearline drive - WD RE SAS hard drives are available in capacities ranging from 1 TB to 4 TB to suit even the most demanding storage needs.
Highest performance for business-critical applications - WD RE delivers 6 Gb/s transfer rates, sustained sequential data rates of 182 MB/s and high random I/O rates.
Designed for quality and reliability - With a field-tested 1.4 million hour MTBF, this high performance drive delivers the highest level of reliability for 24x7 operation in up to 100% duty cycle applications.
Dual port, full duplex connectivity - Offers higher reliability, performance and data availability by eliminating single points of failure, designed for leading business-critical Enterprise topologies.
Environmentally conscious - In addition to being RoHS compliant, WD RE is built with halogen-reduced components.
NoTouchramp load technology - The recording head never touches the disk media ensuring significantly less wear to the recording head and media as well as better drive protection in transit.
Dual stage actuator technology - A head positioning system with two actuators that improves positional accuracy over the data track(s). The primary actuator provides coarse displacement using conventional electromagnetic actuator principles. The secondary actuator uses piezoelectric motion to fine tune the head positioning to a higher degree of accuracy.
Vibration Protection - Enhanced RAFF technology includes sophisticated electronics to monitor the drive and correct both linear and rotational vibration in real time. The result is a significant performance improvement in high vibration environments over the previous generation of drives.
Multi-axis shock sensor - Automatically detects the subtlest shock events and compensates to protect the data.
Dynamic fly height technology - Each read-write head's fly height is adjusted in real time for optimum reliability.
Pros: Fast, inexpensive SAS drive. Perfect for Dell PE tower servers.
Cons: Those who leave 1 egg reviews because THEY didn't verify compatibility before the purchase. This is a SAS drive, not SATA!
Overall Review: Great brand, good reliability & a reasonable price for SAS. Bad reviews left by those who mistakenly purchased this product for desktop computers without a SAS controller should be removed.
Pros: Good performing drives! Am using 6 on an HP P410 in raid 5 and get very good performance. So far no failures and none were DOA.
SAS is worth the few extra $$ since the error rate is 10^15 instead of 10^14 with SATA so it is a little less likely to encounter an uncorrectable error during a rebuild. (All drives do fail eventually...)
Cons: cost??

Pros: Prompt delivery
Cons: Advertised as new drive, SMART showed 2500 hours power up time
Overall Review: Should be listed as used.

Overall Review: I'm appalled at the quality of these devices. I was very surprised to see that they are *way* past warranty with Western Digital. Regardless of when you purchased them, they only warranty them so long past the manufacture date and this seller is selling these as New. For most of us, this implies a manufacturer warranty will have your back.
I have yet to see if I can resolve the problem so stay tuned.
Cons: We received a bad hard drive from one of your suppliers, Vinetec, Inc. We reached out to them very nicely and they never responded. We reached out to New Egg to have them apply pressure for us and they very kindly told us to "kiss off" (in other words, contact our supplier). In Fortran language (if your memory works), this is the ultimate "Do Loop". I really wish there was a "no egg" under rating.
Cons: 5 Drives out of 12 Ordered were BAD, right out of the box.
Smart Errors, Health warnings, relocated sectors.
Mickey mouse WD-Testing software.
Overall Review: Almost %50 failure rate - right out of the gate.
Guess they aren't testing these "Enterprise Grade" drives.
Confidence fell off of a cliff. Time to look at Sea gate.
Pros: Good fast disks. No issues at this point
Cons: Need adaptor.
Overall Review: I purchased the StarTech SAS729PW18 in order to get these connected to my SAS controller.
