Overall Review: Initially I was going to buy an SSD. Then I decided to get an M.2. Then I saw this and on a whim change from the 3.0 to this one. This is like going from HDD to SSD in terms of speed over SSDs. (Well maybe not that much but it is much much faster) Western Digital doesn't disappoint. (I still have 6 750 GB WD Blacks in a RAID that has been running 24x7 for 10 years with no failures.) Idea on speeds it takes Windows 10 longer to copy the WIM file from a USB 3.0 stick than it does to actually do the install. You better have the latest MB with 4.0 support and a current gen processor (AMD Ryzen 3rd gen) to take full advantage of this. I'm getting ready to buy a second one to RAID them.

Cons: Might need a bios update on your board, so make sure you do that first.

Overall Review: WD finally drops their x4 model for the Gen 4. Only problem I had was no post until I updated my Bios, so I had fun at first, having to tear my PC back apart to get at the M2 slot to swap my old one back in. Once I updated, good to go, and my system did feel like it booted and and accessed faster.

Pros: Unfortunately I can’t give a review on the product as it was dead on arrival. I had to purchase a different one locally, so needless to say I was very disappointed that it did not work as I built my system with this drive in mind.

Pros: Very fast. Replaced a Samsung 970 PRO with SN850. Is much faster. Benchmarks, various tools confirm the advertised speeds, specs. WEI scores for this drive are on par with my Ryzen 3900X! Both at 9.6! Never ever seen anything like this in all my decades of building computers. Wanted to get a Samsung 980 PRO, but went with WD this time. No regrets. Warranty is good, Dashboard is a great software. BIOS settings have nothing to do with WD, is up to your motherboard manufacturer to support these drives correctly. In my case special thanks to ASUS - no issues. Also special thanks to Newegg as they handled the back order professionally, once the drive was available was shipped very quickly.
