Pros: it does the job of allowing dual monitor usage
Cons: Not the best solution for dual monitor usage. If you use Firefox, MS Word, or any software that uses "hardware acceleration when available", you'd have to disable it. Otherwise, it won't display the image on the second monitor.
Manufacturer Response:
Hello,
Thank you for your review of our USB32VGAES. We would like to clarify some things regarding hardware acceleration.
Sometimes it is best to disable Hardware Acceleration within certain applications, because it can lead to poor resource management and limit the performance of connected USB video adapters. Hardware Acceleration utilizes the GPU instead of the CPU for much of the processing, and since USB video adapters use this same GPU to generate your external display, performance can suffer when this feature is enabled.
We hope this explains the reasoning behind this a little bit better. If you have any other questions or concerns regarding this product, please get in touch with us and reference case number 306-227762; we'd be happy to help!.

Pros: Works great - if you're not running Windows 8
Cons: Doesn't work in Windows 8 - c'mon Startech, Windows 8 has been available in beta form since February 2012 and you STILL haven't made drivers for it?!?!?! Not acceptable.
Manufacturer Response:
We apologize for the inconvenience.
Depending on when the purchased device was manufactured the Windows 8 drivers may not have been included with the product.
Windows 8 drivers are now available from StarTech.com and can be downloaded from:

Please feel free to contact our technical support at support@startech.com if you have any questions.
Pros: SarTech makes decent devices but not in this case.
Cons: Don't plan on using this with higher resolution monitors/TVs even though the description sais that it supports them. You will get a laggy response time from windows, movies, etc...
Overall Review: Will this keep me from buying other StarTech devices? No.
Manufacturer Response:
We are sorry to hear that you have not had the best experience with your StarTech.com USB2VGAE3. While this product is great for providing dual-display or multi-monitor capability that can be used in a variety of laptop or desktop applications, the performance can be impacted by available system resources and the use of graphically intensive applications. For these more graphically intensive applications the USB2VGAPRO may be a more appropriate product as it uses the system’s graphic processing unit (GPU) to help render the video/image.
If you have any further questions relating to this product then please contact our Technical Support Team either by email at support@StarTech.com or by phone at 1-800-265-1844.

Pros: -Functions great with external monitor
-USB port
-No Video card needed
Cons: -The other StarTech adapters are plug and play. This one is not, due to the USB that's included. Not ideal for use with multiple machines or for guests; but adapter works well!
USB32VGAES USB 3 to VGA work for a while11/13/2016 12:13:53 PM
Pros: Purchased on 11/16/2016. Worked great for about 2 weeks.
Cons: Stopped working after 2 weeks. Downloaded new drivers and it worked for another week and stopped working. Couldn't get it to work even with the latest drivers. Finally returned for refund on 11/13/2016.
Pros: it does the job of allowing dual monitor usage
Cons: Not the best solution for dual monitor usage. If you use Firefox, MS Word, or any software that uses "hardware acceleration when available", you'd have to disable it. Otherwise, it won't display the image on the second monitor.
