Pros: AMAZING! The speeds on this thing are just great. Pretty much instant boot speeds. 500 GB is more than enough for all my games, OS, and pretty much anything else I use.
Cons: Price... but its so worth it.
Overall Review: Just a great buy.
Pros: Running on a SATA2 board I was worried about the install procedure and performance of the drive, but my old motherboard (and Windows 7) detected the drive flawlessly. Seeing 230~260 MB/s reads for both sequential/random access.
Cons: None really. Make sure you keep an eye on the Pro series version of these drives, you can sometimes get them for the same price when sales pop up.
Overall Review: My previous setup were two 7200 RPM platter drives in RAID0. Sequential speeds are about the same between the two drives at roughly 250 MB/s, but random reads are noticabely faster, especially when playing games.
Pros: I have two of these installed in an OWC Elite Pro Dual Mini RAID 0 enclosure. My Mac Pro and Macbook Pro see the RAID as a single 500GB external drive. Working well so far for HD video editing.
Cons: none
Pros: Samsung magician software is a blessing. It will set it up for you. No need to worry about all the advice about what to turn off and on. It takes care of it for you. The drive is fast. Read all the instruction before you install
Cons: None
Overall Review: This is my new favorite SSD drive. Mostly because it takes the guess work out of installing a SSD
Pros: What can I say, the drive is superb. Using this as a boot drive for my new rig with a 1TB drive for programs and storage. Windows 7 OS installation was a breeze and the resulting boot time is a super fast 7 seconds flat. Other system related apps start up instantly without any lag time. Can't ask for anything more. It is also very light and does not cause much obstruction in the case due to it's small form factor. Overall a very good drive, I highly recommend this for first time builders that want to utilize an SSD.
Cons: Unfortunately this model does not come with a 2.5" to 3.5" HDD bracket. You might have to buy one to secure this in the case if you are paranoid about just leaving it out. Of course you could just let it dangle in the case since there aren't any moving parts but for the sake for air flow and cable management that might not be a good idea. Brackets are relatively cheap and easy to install.
Overall Review: This drive utilizes TLC triple level cells instead of the traditional MLC multi level cells which usually have two levels per cell. Now what does this mean. You can expect a lower lifespan of the drive due the cramming of three bits per cell rather than two bits per cell. It should last a while provided that it is used only for booting but with TRIM support and Overprovisioning software included with the drive, you should be able to extend it's life span.
Pros: small form factor but normal for a SSD. Comes with software to make it easy to swap out and not lose anything from regular hard drive.
Cons: everytime he uses trim command from software things quit working Not even close to adviteresided speed
Overall Review: Bought this for a friend as he had a regular 7200 drive and he does some gaming. His start up is alot faster and loading games is close to instant. As in the con section every time he uses the magician software trim command things quit working. I tried to install it using AHCI and it wouldnt work for some reason but it did just regular sata. Tried to get him to send it back but he was alright with it as it is alot faster than what he had. But i own several SSD,s and his has to be the slowest one i have ever seen. His iops is like 7000 and advertised is 85000.
Pros: Sale priced at < $150 Big increase in space over the SSD it replaced More room for more games Samsung quality (including firmware)
Cons: None yet, I haven't had the drive long enough to speak to its longevity. I've read it may not be the fastest SSD out there, but I'm limited to SATAII on my motherboard so you couldn't prove it by me.
Overall Review: I didn't use the enclosed software for cloning, I used the latest free version EaseUS ToDo Backup (remember to check "Optimize for SSD or you'll have to realign the partition) since I've always had success with their software. The process took all of 17 minutes on my Windows 8, and I was up and running. As always, I made a system image of the old drive before cloning just in case something goes sideways in the future.
Pros: fast, actually meets all speed claims and a simple install. Improves all programs and games loading speed.
Cons: None. You already know the price.
Overall Review: I use these and another brand and both are both great but for some reason I am loving these, just can't pinpoint it.
