Pros: Bought this wireless dongle to go into a front hidden usb slot for a car computer build. (mini-itx form factor, Minibox M350 case). Was using Ubuntu 11.04 as the OS. After doing the following I was able to make it work: Used Nano text editor in terminal and opened the blacklist.conf file for editing. Open up terminal and type: sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf I then added the following line to the file: blacklist rt2800usb I saved the file and rebooted the system, and my wireless adapter detected the wifi network without a hitch

Overall Review: Used with a backup computer about 15 feet away from router, but there are 2 walls plus a closet in between them. Speedtest result almost as fast as wired connection in main room.

Overall Review: Was trying to use this on my new computer build for internet access as I was loading software and updates. Kept getting BSOD after BSOD all caused by this little sucker. Keep in mind, that you may not have an issue if you have the Win 7 OEM disk without the SP1 built into it, as the update to SP1 over the web tends to not have an issue, but if you SP1 is integrated into the OEM system disc, you are gonna have problems. Finally had to do a complete rebuild and just leave this off and everything is working. Not even the driver off the web site made a difference. I wouldn't trust it again and it went into the garbage.

Pros: If you need a Wireless USB dongle for a Mac... look no further! Don't waste money on an expensive Mac Airport Card!! Rosewill and Newegg for the win! The price was so low I bought 5 of these, just in case I need some for the future.

Cons: No little extender cable (but I didn't need it, as this card was not bulky...and did not block the surrounding USB and other ports)

Overall Review: Newegg had these on sale for $19.99 with free shipping.... which was the deal of the century.

Pros: It works with a stable throughput of 4mbps down and 3mbps up according to a reputable internet speed test host, Works with Vista Ultimate x64 and XP Home.

Cons: Right out of the box it didn't work properly with the default drivers; it would connect and disconnect every second with the CD drivers on my old Compaq XP machine, the website drivers corrected this problem.

Overall Review: My aunt, her husband and their daughters are coming to visit us this week. Their younger daughter is notorious for spending hours on end on the internet doing the Facebook and AIM thing. The problem is that I have only one computer attached to the internet and the other is an 8 year old Compaq from 2001 in my mother's room collecting dust. I decided that it was time to utilize the Wi-Fi on my FiOS router/modem but I didn't want to spend much on the old thing so I bought the Rosewill RNX-EasyN1; as it was cheap and had a promo at the time. UPS did a great job with the free 3 day shipping; Newegg processed and shipped my order very quickly as always. As for Rosewill, I've always seen their retro style logo on newegg but I didn't know what to expect from them, now I'm more inclined to purchase products with the Rosewill branding in future purchases.

Pros: I bought this over a year ago to upgrade to N. It has worked flawlessly on all my desktop, laptop, and netbook computers running Windows 7 and Ubuntu.

Cons: Haven't found one in a year!

Overall Review: Drivers are native in Ubuntu 11.x! I had a Dell we could not get the internal WiFi to stay working on. Plugged the Rosewell unit in and never had to do a thing to configure it.

Pros: Good driver support for Vista/7, good range, decent speed, compact.

Cons: Driver supplied by Rosewill for Linux is almost useless.

Overall Review: If using with Ubuntu 10.04 there are two things you need to do. 1. Apparently Ubuntu 10.04 (the newest kernel) is presently having incompatibility issues with WPA (1), so to use this authenticate properly with your router you will have to set your wireless router to WPA2 ONLY (NOT WPA/WPA2 mode). Research on www dot ubuntuforums dot org or launchpad dot net slash ubuntu for updates to check if this has been resolved. 2. You have to blacklist the re2800usb driver in ubuntu (the wrong driver is claiming this hardware in the OS). To do this: 1. Open terminal 2. Type: sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf Then a gedit viewer will open 3. At the bottom of the file add a line: blacklist rt2800usb 4. Save/Exit the conf file. 5. Reboot I have used this on 4 wildly varying hardware platforms running Ubuntu and it has worked every time.
