Pros: dockable, bright screen, voice activation works better than expected, lane changing, FM receiver for bad traffic. Its got it all...even games.

Cons: Power connector isn't standard USB like others.

Overall Review: Make sure when you are talking to it the windows are up and the radio is off or you will have trouble with the voice activation. If you are thinking about buying this do it because it is the best GPS I have ever touched.

Pros: This is my first GPS unit and it does its job as expected and is very easy to use.

Cons: The only problem that I had is that the unit shut itself off once it heard Dr Nightmares voice. I turned it back on and switched back to Jill and everything seems to work well.

Overall Review: Unpacked it, Registered with Garmin, Plugged it into my computer, downloaded all of the available updates, including Firmware, Software, Maps, Cars and Voices. After a couple of hours it was all done and works well. The updates addressed many of the issues that others have described here. Those with more experience with these GPS devices might want it to do more. Everything that I need it for was in the box, except for the traffic antenna, which I ordered separately.

Pros: Good quality construction, audible directions. Very good for navigational purposes = it's main purpose. Good picture viewer, since it lets you store your pictures so it acts like a tiny digital frame.

Cons: Have to have annoying button on steering wheel for voice command. MP3 Player feature is almost out the door and let me tell you why: Firstable you don't want to listen using built-in speakers. Second there is a built-in FM transmitter that transmits units audio to your car's stereo using FM, so you can use your car's speakers instead. The problem with that is you can't find a good clear FM channel that is free of noise. And even if you do the audio quality sucks for the lack of better words. No Bluethooth, and no ability to connect rear view camera.

Overall Review: If you want to use this for navigational purposes this is a great unit.

Pros: Cheap, powered mounting bracket, good satellite reception...

Cons: Poorly written software, the battery drains in stand-by mode, no way to force the device to turn off without taking out the battery, does not display street names in the most detailed view, when driving without destination selected the device displays the street you are driving on at the top of the screen instead of the intersection that you are approaching...

Pros: Price, voice command, good maps that you can zoom in and out, removal battery, and did I say PRICE.

Cons: I have used this 855 for 10 days, one time it locked up when I was doing 2-3 things at once, but all processors will freeze if you over load them. Just reset and it's good to go. Does not make coffee, does not cook.......

Overall Review: This is my 5th GPS, a Garmin iQue3600, nuvi 660, nuvi 760,and a TTone that I gave away and now this nuvi855. I have used traffic alerts on the 660 and it's very unrealible, it would warn you with nothing wrong,when I did reroute at other times, it put me in more traffic than if I had stayed on the original route, I wouldn't have traffic.. I've used bluetooth, I don't care for it ,so this would be a pro. I don't really need mp3, bookreader with XM radio, but it's included. Speaker plenty load for me. I always turn off volume and just watch the screen. Excellent screen layout with plenty of info. Easy to see in daylight. I like the voice command. Four years ago, a GPS with these features would cost $350-$650, I paid over $400 for the nuvi660 and that was after it was reduced from $650.00. For the money, this nuvi855 is a steal. I couldn't ask for a better GPS.

Pros: Voice [speech recognition] ... Very important for me to be able to talk to the unit while driving and not have to look at it to punch data in or when getting close to land marks [turns, etc.]. I can keep my eyes on the road. Padestrian mode VERY useful. Many large hospitals have restaurants inside the building [unknown to visitors as to their presents and location]. This unit litterally showed me where to walk from a hospital room to a Wendy's and Tim Horton's that were inside a massive and confusingly laid out building; the place was a maze. Very simple to learn to use. And, for those of you that like astronomy and use a telescope that requires longitude and latitude, this unit is very accurate. Great price for what you get.

Cons: Only missing a few things I would like to have had: trafficTrends, real-time travel information, more fuel-efficient route, Dead reckoning, and 3D Building View. ** But, for the price of the unit I can live without these. Latest maps are from December 2009. I added 4GB MicroSD to transfer and store music on. The unit seemed a little confused when I first put music on the new memory card, but shortly there after functioned flawlessly. Remote Control [for voice commands] Battery replacement instructions is not listed in the table of contents, but is listed in the Index; it can be found on page 55.

Overall Review: Other than more recent maps, the list of cons is very minor and none should not keep someone from purchasing this unit. Pay close attention to advice from those that were successful at operating this unit with no problems. Look command words up on the internet, more can be found than are in the downloadable manual. Overall, this unit is great and deserves 4.5 eggs, but that is not an option, so, I gave it 5, because of price pushes it toward 5 eggs.

Pros: Garmin is about the easiest gps to use and this one is great! GUI is very readable and everything is where I would expect it to be. Lane suggestion is great. Voice commands are easy to remember and it works really well with the windows up. Update was breeze, my wife did it all before I even got to see it!

Cons: No complaints really.

Overall Review: Buy this gps, you will not be disappointed!

Pros: When it works it is great ! I like the easier input of addresses ( both alpha & numeric) ! over the older models. . .

Cons: It does not have a truck route selection as does my old 660 model did, so I have to watch where it directs me to go with my RV on non truck routes. It also freezes up quite often and requires the removal of the battery and reinstall it to get it to run again, and that is not so easy when your in traffic and on a multi-lane highway going 65 mph. It also will show you should go right and tell you to go left~!~

Overall Review: It would be nice to have Garmin build a working Novi with all the bells and whistles, and have it on the market for more than a couple of months before it is on their obsolete list ~!~ I hope this is of some help to you . . .
