Amazing Product.

Pros: Easy Setup
A LOT OF FUN
Great EQUIPMENT

Cons: NEED A DEDICATED COMPUTER VERY VERY Powerful!

Cables all over the place is a mess and a risk

If you have kids buy 2 or more 1 is not enough.

Overall Review: I was WORRIED about the horror stories I read about the setup, but it was very easy and straight forward with the Manual and step by step guide.

In the process of 2nd RMA...

Pros: The best you can get for a VR headset. See cons...

Cons: This is the 2nd time I have received a Vive Pro with scuff marks on the "new" lenses. I don't know how this could happen twice in a row or who to hold responsible.. I'm very disappointed. This is my first experience with VR and I decided to go all in and buy this top of the line headset w/ all the accessories. Hopefully the third one works out..

amd/ryzen incompatipility by extreme tech

Pros: seems like htc is being responsible

Cons: Today’s news, thankfully, is nowhere near that bad, but it’s still kind of strange. When HTC shipped its wireless module for the Vive in late September, the peripheral was snapped up by both Ryzen and Intel VR owners who wanted a chance to game without wires getting in the way. THG’s initial review of the adapter noted their problems getting the hardware working on AMD systems, but their Intel testbed wasn’t exactly a perfect experience, either. It was generally assumed that these issues would be resolved by software updates. This may still happen, but nearly two months later the delay is pushing out enough that HTC has apparently started offering Ryzen owners a refund.

HTC confirmed it is “looking into multiple reports of Ryzen incompatibility with the Vive Wireless Adapter,” and is “working with multiple component manufacturers to find the root cause,” Tom’s Hardware reports. It is not known, at this time, what would be causing these issues or why the company hasn’t been able to isolate or find them after two months of work. It’s obvious that AMD wasn’t on HTC’s radar when developing the headset; THG’s testing makes it clear that the Ryzen platform fundamentally couldn’t maintain playable frame rates with the wireless adapter enabled for reasons that were unclear. The issue seems likely to be on HTC’s end or caused by the interplay of driver settings between what’s expected behavior between two different system components. This kind of low-level problem can take time to run down, though it’s still disappointing to see HTC essentially saying it has no timeframe or ETA for any kind of fix. Offering a refund is the right move, but AMD gamers deserve hardware that supports their platforms as robustly as they’d support Intel.

If we had to guess, we’d guess that this kind of issue is a lingering reflection of AMD’s long absence from the gaming market. Ryzen wasn’t even in-market when the Vive launched, and the majority of its user-base is likely on Intel hardware. With AMD gaining market share in desktops, Ryzen support is going to matter more in future cycles, but HTC may have overlooked the need to bring up its hardware on both platforms, particularly given the company’s long-term financial issues and other problems.

Anyone who bought a Vive wireless adapter and wants to return it should contact Vive Custom Support at vive_care@vive.com. Purchases from Vive or HTC retail partners will be accepted, provided you provide proof of purchase and the representative confirms you have a Ryzen PC. As for when the fix should be available, the only guidance from HTC is that the solution will “take time.”

Overall Review: I have just bought without the wireless portion and dont know about any interoperability issues yet.

Item arrived DOA, Replacement Warranty VOID when not purchased directly from Vive

Pros: - Unable to provide pro's as I received a dead unit.
- Vive was very helpful in pushing through a warranty claim with the manufacturer. I am currently awaiting a replacement unit from Newegg and will revise my review after that is received!

Cons: - Item was DOA (spent 2 days working with Vive & Steam support teams before determining this).
- Requested an exchange through Vive, Vive indicated that because I purchased from Newegg that I would have to deal with Newegg.
- Contacted Newegg and was informed that they do not provide exchange or returns and that I must contact the original manufacturer (HTC Vive).

Better then expected

Pros: Can't really compare it to the other HTC since I don't have it but few things I can say about it
Plug and play.
Comfort for hours
Controllers stay in for over 5 hours

Cons: Comes with US power, with no adapters
Sometimes the earphones are a bit aids, and wish it would be ez to take them off

Overall Review: Shipping & Delivery was fast to Israel and in Israel which is usually so slow out here.
Came without any damage was perfectly fine.

Yes, it's worth it! Serious VR tech package.

Pros: - Higher resolution - makes text much easier to read, especially at lens edges. Bright, colorful, crisp. Greatly reduced SDE (screen door effect) - I never notice it. Better view distance.
- Integrated headphones - very adjustable and sounds crisp (nice 3D spatial sound). Haven't had issues with the volume. If you want booming bass, hook up a subwoofer.
- Comfort - it just feels right. Easily accomodates all types of glasses. Put on, take off, with minimal effort. No discomfort even after hours of use.
- Excellent software library. The Vive caters to the indie developer community so you'll find all sorts of games and experiences. Plays Rift games too with ReVive.
- Version 2.0 tracking system is more efficient, and allows more robust communication between the base stations and sensors. It provides much more than just a larger play area.
- Room scale is absolutely amazing. Tracking is near perfect. I only have a 6'x7' play area, and it works well. The more space, the better!
- Vive setup - easy step-by-step visual walkthrough guiding you through the process. The Chaperone system is very accurate and keeps you in your play area.
- Future proof - 2 cameras, which can allow hand tracking and other uses; increased resolution can be utilized by AAA games; 2.0 tracking is more advanced.

Cons: - Price. Not yet affordable enough for most mainstream users. Seems to be priced for business use and VR enthusiasts.
- Setup takes some time (about 1-2 hours). You need to update the firmware on your controllers and headset (easy to do using Steam VR).
- The setup app assumes you use version 1.0 base stations. The updated information was found by searching the Vive website. A little confusing at first.
- Doesn't include 'knuckles' type controllers - still uses the original wand design. It still works well, but no finger gestures. Hopefully Valve gets this released soon.

Overall Review: I was going to hold out and wait for "2nd gen VR", but the current gen is refined and mature, with plenty of content. The Vive Pro is the next big step to 2nd gen VR, especially with wireless tech and better controllers coming soon. A wider FOV (field of view) doesn't necessarily equate to a better experience; it's all about the content and support. Having done much research into all the major VR headsets, and having used the Rift before, I feel the Vive Pro is the best option out there for anyone wanting the best VR experience NOW. It's a good option for developers, too, as Vive is more open platform.

TIPS:
- If you have audio issues with the headphones, update the firmware and adjust the audio settings in the Vive and Steam VR apps.
- Wear a sweatband to absorb sweat and protect the headset from damage, especially if working out.
- You might want to buy controller protector guards for the wands (to prevent damaging them if you hit them against something).
- The tracking system works best in a play area free of reflective surfaces (glass, mirrors, etc.).
- 'The Lab' is an awesome FREE game/experience collection available for download on Steam - this will demonstrate the potential of the Vive.

Arrived damage - unclear how to resolve - add-on warranty seems to be a scam

Pros: none yet - it arrived damaged and I can't figure out who to ask for help

Cons: I did not want to write this review, but..

I just opened the box for initial setup and one of the base stations is making a loud noise upon first plug in (it's louder than my fans, computers, air filter, etc..). I'm trying to find info on who to contact for support.. there's no clear indicator as this was sold by newegg so thee's not a contact seller option. I've spent a good amount of time looking here and on htc's website for more info with no luck. On htc's website I'm only finding legal documentation about warranty coverage, not an actual contact form.

If I go to the add-on $200 warranty I purchased from squaretrade I see this message:

Coverage Amount: Up to the maximum coverage price of this Protection Plan, or the purchase price of your item, whichever is lower

which pretty much is saying I'm already at a loss of warranty coverage because I received a defective product? If I only get 200 worth of coverage, why would I buy the warranty, is it to let them have my $200 in case I might need it.. I really feel bad right now about this - it should be clear who to contact in this situation, and I don't think I should be penalized for receiving a defective product.

I'm pretty confused by all of this and also pretty sure the warranty said it was unlimited at the time I selected it with my purchase.

Can someone please reach out to me and help me get a working base station?
